Kyo x Tohru and the New Series

I am 100% here to see the Kyo and Tohru relationship properly animated in this new series. In the original anime the narrative was still very much so one-sided when it came to Kyo and Tohru’s relationship and the healing factor of it. From the anime alone, their relationship dynamic comes off as a “kind girl heals broken boy” one, which is fine. It can be a rather harmful relationship dynamic to romanticize, but there are many wonderful ships that fall into this dynamic (and which I often ship). So I’m not hating on that aspect in and of itself.  But, with that being said, the Furuba manga showed how it wasn’t just Tohru healing Kyo in their relationship, but Kyo healing Tohru as well. And, to me, that is what makes the Kyo/Tohru relationship so immensely beautiful. It’s what makes it a ship that it still so very near and dear to my heart, even though the anime ended ages ago and the manga finished its run when I was still in high school (I’m 28 now). 

We got to see how both Kyo and Tohru were broken and hurt. They both showed it in different ways, but it was there. And getting to see the two of them discover those broken pieces of the other and help each other put those pieces back together was a truly unforgettable experience. Watching their relationship dynamic slowly grow and change as they matured and experienced the ups and downs of life together. I just… Kyo and Tohru save each other, they help each other grow, they heal each other, and they love each other so much. I cannot wait to see this relationship - with all of its truly touching and amazing moments - finally animated! It truly is a dream to finally get something like this after so many years! <3
