Jewish Song of the Day #25
youtube
Comments:
Did you enjoy Shir Shel Yom? Well, get ready now for.............
Nigun of the Month!!
Nava Tehila created a whole series of these, and I love them all. Their Kislev one was so beautiful it helped me start working through the depression after October, because I thought, well? It's worth slogging onwards so that I can learn more beautiful songs like these.
There are some things that cannot be expressed in words, but can come through in the music of the soul. Jewish tradition recognizes this and embeds niggunim in our liturgy as a way of helping lift us up and express the inexpressible.
We are now starting the Hebrew month of Adar! Actually, because it's a leap year, we are starting Adar א. Adar ב is when we will celebrate Purim!
In Adar, we increase our happiness, and Purim is one of our most joyous holidays. The beginning of each month with the new moon is also a cyclical Jewish holiday, called Rosh Chodesh.
In honor of Rosh Chodesh Adar א, please enjoy this beautiful nigun.
Shavua tov and Chodesh tov!

Jewish Song of the Day #26: Lo Yisa Goy
youtube
Comments:
Okay this one is aimed at kids, but it's so pretty and it doesn't come across as only enjoyable for children in my opinion.
I like this version, because it also includes another Jewish song "don't walk in front of me, I may not follow..." which I enjoy a lot.
Normally I don't translate lyrics, but in honor of the many people who have tried to tell me that "goy" is a slur, I think it warrants a little explanation.
"Goy" in the Tanakh literally just means "nation;" it's usage to refer to a non-Jewish individual person came much later.
The Hebrew words are: "Lo yisa goy el goy cherev lo yil'medu od milchamah"
לֹא יִשָּׂא גוֹי אֶל גוֹי חֶרֶב לֹא יִלְמְדוּ עוֹד מִלְחָמָה.
And these are the words translated (they are from Isaiah 2): "Nation shall not lift sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore."
An important prayer for our time, may it arrive speedily and within our days!

Hello everyone? Hope you're doing well, back here the situation is more terrible than before. We're really losing hope and so helpless that we can hardly survive due to the horrible actions against lgbtqi in a hostile refugee camp by the host community, refugees and the police. We're sleeping on empty stomachs, running here and there for safety ( hence nowhere to go), always arrested and tortured making the situation tough to live in.We're denied access to work, school, medical and food distribution centers in the camp with little assistance, the government and some UNHCR officials stir up the fire causing harm, displacement or even days. We hereby plead for your intervention and support for us the vulnerable to make a better living.Your kind support can make a change even a little, hope we find the help we need 🙏For your assistance please send to PayPal account [email protected] for the shopkeeper. Your support will be highly appreciated.
