Some interesting pictures of ballet costumes I found on wiki-commons
"ossini - Le siège de Corinthe - Hippolyte Lecomte - Paris 1826 - 15. Turque noble"
Vzevolozhsky's costume sketch for The Nutcracker.circa 1890.
A costume sketch of canary chicks for the ballet Trilby by J. Gerber. It inspired Mussorgsky for his Ballet of the Unhatched Chicks from The Pictures at the Exhibition.
Costume design for Astaroth in Fromental Halévy's 1832 opera La tentation This design seems to be suprisingly skimpy for the time.
Pauline Leroux as Marie in Halévy's 1832 ballet-opera La tentation
Louis XIV in Lully's Ballet Royal de la Nuit (1653).

50 Pfennig Bank note

I found this at work in some archival material some months ago. Made some photos before I put it back.
A fifty Pfennig note from the beginning of the GDR. The state lacked metal for coins after the war. So they made small bank notes too. GDR Pfennig and Mark coins were mostly made from aluminium, thats why people called the "Aluchips".

Sims 2 legacy collection
Wow, every time I think EA can't be more complacent and lazier with the franchise... I gues that's what happens if you basically got a monopoly on a genre
At least my Starter-Pack version doesn't get crash-happy until I try to run a big medieval save.
I really hope InZoi and/or Paralives will be the Stardew Valley of Sims-like life sims and gives us a lot more variety to choose from.
edit: I actually wanted to put it on my other tumblr. But at least it's sims related this time.

Lady Shirley by Anthony van Dyck, c. 1622
The portrait shows Teresa Sampsonia a Circassian noblewoman of the Safavid Empire who married the english adventurer Robert Shirley. They were quite famous and received at many royal courts.
Sadly, it seems like there aren't (as of 19.01.2025) any non-fiction books written about them. It's not a nice day for my book wish list.

A very interesting article from the National Museums Liverpool website
By the way, it seems like the book mentioned in the article didn't get published as planned in 2022. I wanted to buy it, but the release date, according to Amazon, is the 19th February 2026. :-(

Little Rant
I just told my parents about the book I'm reading. It's a non-fiction book about roman everyday life written in a story-like way (It's this german book, I quite like it).
So I told my parents about the four factions of roman chariot racing. My dad said it can't be four factions because in Ben Hur their are six racers.
Yes, somewhere in his life my dad got the idea that an american novel from 1880 describes roman life and the beginning of christianity more accurate than a modern history book.
Honestly sometimes I think that he doesn't really get that his historical novel aren't always 100%ly accurate retellings of historic times. He sometimes understands it with his normal novels, but not with Ben Hur.
Maybe he really liked it during the times he still attended church (I know he was confirmed at least). But in general I don't know if my paternal family was ever that religious, I can't remember anybody ever attending church not even at christmas.

I learned something important during the last two weeks
It's a really bad idea to try to rebuild your medieval clothing defaults folder during your christmas vacation. Simfileshare isn't built for everysimmer being at home and trying to download stuff.
Also my Bodyshop crashes if you try to look through outfits too fast. Which is annoying if you try to figure out wether some of the newly downloaded Defaults make your bodyshop/game crash. Some of the old ones did.

My brave boys
It's a bit late but I'm always a bit lazy with transfering my photos onto my PC.

Simba and Moy were really brave this New Years Eve.
Simba only became afraid when somebody set off fireworks in the appartment garden. He sat under the kitchen table afterwards but wasn't terrified like Sandy was. The calming treats we gave him after the first nearby fireworks might helped.

Little scaredy cat Moy mostly slept through it, and became only a bit nervous at midnight.
Honestly I think they were more annoyed, that we still were up at 22:00.
