The federal's not looking good, but in a state that is otherwise totally Republican, there is some good news.

As a person who became bilingual as adult, I don't understand when people praising multilingual people are like "English is my first language and I can barely speak it or write it." Like, yes you can? If you think you can't you're just speaking in dialect, and that's a form of English. Second language speakers are valid, business English speakers are valid and first language speakers who don't have a huge vocabulary or who use slang aren't speaking their native tongue incorrectly omg.
Also, consider, growing up multilingual is different than learning another language as an adult. Younger brains learn languages much faster and better than adult brains. It is very difficult if not impossible to gain a native accent and understanding as an adult. If you only speak one language, or speak multiple but not at a native level, don't compare yourself to multilinguals who have spoken many languages such childhood. Yes it's impressive, and I encourage everyone to learn another language because it's a wonderful experience, but don't downplay your own language ability just to praise others. You can recognize that someone has an excellent grasp of English without insisting that your own dialect of the same language is wrong. X

Hermione came up with S.P.E.W.: Society for Promotion of Elvish Welfare. S.P.E.W. in the real world stood for Society for Promoting the Employment of Women, a British feminist organization that still operates under the name Futures for Women. The metaphor is explicit.
why did the one character who talked out against slavery in harry potter get treated like a nagging woman and was never taken seriously
because that's precisely how feminists are treated when they speak out against the nuclear family model. please think just a little bit harder about this before asking dumb questions.

This was posted on the r/askFeminists subreddit a year or two ago.聽I think it鈥檚 a really good summarization of some of the major holes and contradictions in trans ideology. I come back to this post every once in a while, so I thought I鈥檇 post it here. Here is the link for the comment section that peaked her.

I honestly think the only people who should have sons are lesbian couples. I've never heard of a boy with two moms growing up to do something crazy evil. Only sons with fathers do that.
I also don't think two straight feminists can emulate this lesbian mom effect. It wouldn't work. It wouldn't be the same.

Homosexuality is actually the default bc same sex relationships are healthier and safer. Heterosexuality only exists bc humans need to reproduce but we were never meant to be in long term Het relationships. Society was ruled by matriarchal lesbian clans until a genetic mutation started spreading uncontrollably across the entire species that made heterosexuality the dominant orientation.

Heterosexuals are so degenerate. I was just listing to this woman give her take on abortion, and I had previously liked her feminist content, but even though she's pro-choice she said some strange things, like that abortion and birth control have paved the way for the objectification of women, and that heterosexual casual sex always hurts women (because, apparently, we chemically "bond" with someone the first time we have sex with them? But for men it takes three months? Sounds like a study done by males to me. She seems to hate casual sex full stop and she thinks that women weren't objectified when they were married off as property, often to their rapist. That things like super young women being married off was to protect them from being single mothers or something. I guess she doesn't understand that women being literal property is a worse objectification than what we experience today. Or that women had methods of birth control and abortion that they all knew about, even if they weren't as safe or effective. I'm sick of hearing people blame women for their own oppression.

Name one community where men actually lead.
Even in patriarchal communities, women are carrying those communities on their back and looking towards the future.
Who are the most politically active members of the catholic church? Nuns.
If you spend any time around queer community shit, you know it's built on the backs of young women. Young women with sickly martyr complexes.
Women often lead communities while taking orders from men.
It's real weird. But it does make me realize we're halfway there already. All women need to do is stop following the philosophies and politics of men. And instead lead through grit and gut instinct until female thought thrives again.
