Edie drums their fingers on the table, idly surveying the room around them. It's a busy night in this club, probably why Angel suggested it in the first place. Clubbing isn't really Edie’s speed — the music usually sucks, too many people get way too aggressive hitting on them, and, as much as Edie loves Angel, they'd be lying if they said Angel didn't often leave them behind for randos he meets while they're out.

Not that Edie blames him, of course. Clubs are easy money, tons of desperate people looking to get laid, especially by someone with as much expertise as Angel has. Right now, he's talking to some hedgehog sinner who actually may not know who Angel is, because he seems to be falling hook, line, and sinker for whatever bullshit Angel's throwing his way. He'll get a lot off this guy, they're sure.

Edie swirls the stirring straw in their glass, listening to the ice clink together. Their drink ran dry a while ago, perhaps it's high time they get another. The walk to the bar is uneventful, though they get a few lingering looks that leave the sneaking suspicion they won't be left alone long. This is why they always have Angel get the drinks.

They place an order — something fruity, I don't care what — watching carefully as it's made. Take your eye off your drink for even a second and someone's slipping something into it. Edie’s seen it happen to Angel many times, always followed with a, “Don't worry about it, babe; I'll be fine!” and the kind of grin that assures the opposite. They aren't going to take chances.

It's once they have their drink that someone approaches. She's hot, they'll give her that. Tries to make conversation, gets way too touchy way too fast, clearly intends to take Edie home. Edie downs their drink quickly, sliding the glass back to the bartender, and heads off somewhere, anywhere else.

Having not actually left the table Angel had parked them at since arriving, they quickly find themself in an area of the club they hadn't seen before. The lights change from the deep red of the rest of the club to a vibrant pink, all centered on one small area set away from everything else. There's a sigil on the ceiling, hearts that shape into an insect. Edie's seen it before; Angel says it's the mark of his boss. A man they’ve heard a lot about, mostly bad, a little good enough to be worth checking out.
