I headcanon that most cybertronians can't cook.

Energon is their main meal that only really needs to be filtered to be edible. But cooking is a genuinely hard skill because energon is a volatile substance. it can blow up, catch fire, turn toxic, etc.

So few bots learn to cook as it's more of a science than for us. Even adding a few additional minerals or brewing high grade can be a danger.

I think starscream is unusually skilled in cooking. He can make enrgon jellies and rust sticks. It's surprising the meal he can make simply because he wanted to understand the properties of energon before the war.

Swerve is another good cook. Specially on high grade making, and candy making.

Despite being great in science and chemistry shockwave can't cook for shit, He dosent understand why. He follows a recipe to the T, starscream gets a perfect energon oil cake, he gets The humonculous™. He hates it.

Yall remember when bumblebee made fun of soundwave losing rumble?

In my au that scene comes up when bumblebee comes close to capturing starscream/getting the terrans.

He says is casually, like it's a joke. But the terrans have grown with starscream who talks about rumble and frenzy like they are their cousins. They are soundwaves kids starscream would have liked for them to have grown up with them around.

So to hear bumblebee mock the death of one of their family really dosent sit right with them. The terrans get a real feta of the autobots out of it. They think they'll take them from starscream and if they, or worse, starscream dies the others will only find out because they'll make a joke out of it.

Bumblebee: oh yea he blew up his cassette because he didn't even know how hungry he was :)

Terrans: *grew up with a carrier who has obsessively hidden as much energon as he can in their compartments and safe houses to the point of starving himself*.... hey so this is my first impression of you actually :/ ...

Metal flock au

Started thinking of what each character thinks about starscreams little escapade with the terrans. He's on maternity leave and it's everybody's business.

I feel like I haven't mentioned it but nobody knows HOW starscream got the kids. The general assumption is divided. they all think he carried them naturally.

The autobots think starscream got secretly sparked and kept it secret when he got captured. They make bets on who they think is the sire. Mayority think it was a random decepticon grunt and starscream was too proud to say so.

The decepticons are in shambles. They have no idea. They blame GHOST, they think they experimented on starscream and got him sparked, or that the autobots had something to do with it.

A few think megatron did it (this is a surprise tool that will hurt help us later)

BTW, since cybertronians are robots mine have the ability to sort of delay the gestation of a sparkling so that's why the bots and cons aren't sure of the time of conception and birth of the kids. It really could have been years ago and starscream simply had the fortitude to force stop it

Soundwave

"what do you Mean he got out?! That back stabbing cowardly slag-.... Fuck you mean sparklings? Alright fess up who sparked up my de facto leader?"

He was furious at starscream at the start for "abandoning" them just like megatron (abandonment issues soundwave let's goooo)

When a GHOST agent slipped up and said starscream had sparklings he got concerningly calm (obsessive attachment soundwave let's goooo)

In his mind starscream had more than reason to run and not look back. Their only chance at repopulation couldn't be trusted in the hands of humans or autobots

The decepticons sparklings couldn't be left to be inprisoned by GHOST megatron

Not the stepsire but the sire who stepped up, or at least he wants to be... If starscream let him even a mile near.

He's not insane, just a bit obsessed with finding the kids. Thinks he and starscream should put the kids and cassettes together and keep them safe.

Not exactly in love with starscream but wants to step up in what he thinks is the best for the kids and them

Soundwave tweaks out any time someone hints they could be megatrons. That mech dosent deserve dirt, much less sparklings.

Inside he does think they are megatrons and HATES him for it.

How is it fair, that he lost his little one and he gets 5? It isn't, he doesn't deserve it, he won't let him have them.

Shockwave

Goes back through every memory of interaction with starscream since megatrons betrayal trying to find the turning point.

"when would he even have the time to frag??????"

Somethings aren't adding up but any questions he voices gets him yelled at by either starscream, soundwave, or skywarp.

Wants to know how starscream did it. Get sparked, carry that many sparks while in prison, and kept it a secret. It just dosent make sense.

He thinks the most logical path forward is to retire starscream as leader and for him to focus on raising the terrans. And in the future make more.

Wants to give the sparklings a check up as soon as they find them.

If only starscreams illogical carrier coding didn't make him so flighty and dificult. More than usual.

Skywarp / novastorm

Excited to be aunts (they are siblings in earthspark to me)

They where also very mad at starscream for leaving until they found out about the kids.

Now it's just worry and righteous anger.

Skywarp has become aggressive and difficult now that she nows starscream is out there alone with a whole flock of kids.

Skywarp thinks that megatron is an useless sire who should give the only thing he has worth giving to star. His corpse as sustenance

Nova storm thinks GHOST did it

She wants each and every single human in there dead for the disrespect to her trine.

They both are the most eager to escape so they can find and help starscream. Seekers raise their kids together and starscream is alone with a whooping 5 sparkling flock.

They think starscream must be running on fumes after having that many with zero help.

They are both worried sick of what will happen to starscream if GHOST or the autobots find him.

Every time magnus goes on a rant you can just see sentinel in the background smoking a pack and looking tired for all he's gonna have to fix when the tantrums over.

Checks in on the repair crew (op and company) over video call often.

He and ratchet get along the best. Both feeling the weight of trying so hard for people who seem to not try at all. Except ratchet does it for the selfish reason of wanting people to depend on him forever

Genuinely thinks keeping optimus out of the academy and away from magnus was for the best, joining the guard wasn't what they said it'd be.

Some very histerical late night lead to thinking his unruly sparklings would be better off if they ran away to the decepticons.

Learmed of workers union and osha violations and think it's the best thing the humans have ever made.

Yearns for retirement. Has a frame picture of his retirement fund. Nothing is getting between him and his 401k retirement plan or so help him primus.

He has fond intrest in earth and humanity. Thinks retiring in earth sound like a wonderful idea, Mexico would be his dream vacation.

It takes physical strength on his part to not try and mother hen bumblebee, soundwave, and sari. Not that they'd appreciate it (soundwave would and does)

I always headcanon iacon as like... A costal city with many railways.

I also think the iacon archives to be a massive glittering pyramid of glass and white metal but with trains running in and out at diferent levels. Imagine the bass pro shop Sporting goods store in Memphis, Tennessee

Transformers one affected this view tho.

Iacon is built on a costal canyon. In a large crevice where a river runs through. The upper side, with the archive as it's highest point is where the rich reside while the darker rundown areas at the soggy bottom are for the lower class. The city builds into the rocky walls and up stacking buildings onto each other.

The lower slums flood often.

The higer neighborhoods are known for their beutiful sunset views.

Cybertronian biology specifically.

Paint is seen as both makeup, in regards to details like stripes, flames, bedazzling. While the whole body color is more like skincare.

Wax is skincare like washing your face is. While whole body paint is skincare like HAVING skin at all.

Being un-waxed is seen as just not washing but not having finish is like walking around with scabs all over your body.

Newbuilds aren't unpainted tho. Their body gets a thin nanite specific color a few hours after being born that slowly turns into OG color as they grow. Imagine a dull matte green/grey/blue, that's newborn color instead of the dull Grey/white that naked protoform is

Nudity is complex. Opening the plating can be gore or it can be sexy. It depends of what you open and how deep.

Optimus showing the matrix isn't nude any more then showing your collarbone. But pulling it out and showing the cabling beneath is walking around tits out.

Showing a spark is complicated as well. Seeing the spark chamber is very gory and disturbing, but seeing the spark and it's light is intimate. Depends on the bot if it's sexual, platonic or romantic.

Nanites are like nano robots in the surface of their plating that help heal and be the outermost layer. Nanites have their OG paint color in their code. If a bot dosent paint themselves they will slowly turn the color they where born as.

Also no, they don't see the random metal of their planet as flesh even if it's the body of primus. Not any more than we see literal calcium as human teeth. Made similar but not seen the same.

Their em field really only naturally expands about a far as you can extend an arm. It dosent reach a whole room. But they can expand it more if they know how, even make it connect with others

Sending em field connection requests is scandalous in cybertron if you don't know the person well.

For my autism community, reading an em field isn't any easier than figuring out 'tone'. I hate that, you say something nice but someone took it as sarcasm because your field felt off

Optimus's field is a perpetual thousand yard stare because he is sued to the field size he had as Orion so it's very compressed inside him.

Fliers have better control and more complex communication through em field. Shuttles have the longest range of em field only behind Titan class bots like metroplex and tripticon.

Primus em field is so potent it forms the atmospheric layers of cybertron. Anything that happens up there is considered a show of their gods emotions

Sparklings are born with soft plating, from how hot their metal was to be created. It's soft enough that you have to be careful not to leave hand shaped dents on them.

Some creators take this time to hand shape features they want into their children, though this is slightly looked down by some people.

A flat tire is like pulling a muscle to them.

Medic bots are chonkier than others of their frame type. Pharma would be bigger than the average seeker, ratchet is bigger than the average van.

This either for born medics like ratchet that came online like that or those who learned it like pharma who where instructed to bulk up and get plating added when in university.

On terms of learning. Cybertronians can download information but it's not the same as learning it. Think knowledge and wisdom. They can download the info they want but will still need some time to use it to it's full capacity

Some knowledge comes pre installed like basic instinct or frame type requirements. Ratchet was born with basic medical knowledge like what to o with certain injuries but he didn't know the names or why he did it.

All fliers spend the first cycles of their life practically always carried or in their creators cockpit. Trines have it easier passing the little one through 3 partners or more but at least they can glide as soon as they are out.

Grounders are ready to go go go as soon as they pop out. Set them on the floor and they might run off. Heavier class ones can't tho. They need extra time to harden their joints.

Triple changers are dificult. They don't usually fit into either of their classes as they have entirely different biology.

Triple changers will lose the ability to transforms comfortably with age faster than any other class besides titans. Their joints just lock up

I see so much of Seeker culture barely anything for others so here's a mixed bag of headcanons for cybertronian cultures

Bots naturally born in Crystal city or praxus to have either an iridescent or pearlescent finish to their paint. Either through parents code or from hot spots. It helps them blend with the crystal flora of their city. It's hard, nearly impossible to cover it. Prowl looks like a cop lost a bet with his 5yr old daughter so his alt is SHIMERRYYYY

Wing speak for grounders is VASTLY diferent than fliers. It's more jerky and harsh. slamming against their backs, rolling the windows up and down or the sound of the handle or lock. Imagine the acoustic diference of singing german to Spanish.

Door wings have very little sensors in contrast to seekers. Grabbing them has less cultural meaning to them. It's even a popular way to have your kid hold on.

Shuttles don't have wing speak, sadly it was lost to time. But they are masters of bio light and em field reading. It's helpful for a frame type that spends so much time so far from eachother to be able to communicate at a distance.

Shuttle sparklings almost never use their magnets. Shuttle flights are usually too harsh as they leave the atmosphere so they usually stay inside their creators compartment

Many people see praxus and vos as sister cities despite the wide diferences. It's recorded that door wings and seeker wings developed around the same time and place and the seekers floating city simply drifted away, but many things remain.

Bots are infact born medics naturally but this just means they have extra sensors in their optics and hands and extra repair databanks. Any bit can become a medic through frame alteration and study. the council discourages this.

Medics are stereotyped as caregivers but not partners. Social norm paints them as those who help at the hot spots but don't get to raise a family of their own. They are thought to be married to their job by primus's will

'miner' frames are actually just a sub type of grounder war frame, made to survive the many tunnels and caves of cybertron. They developed thicker plates and underground sensors, they usually have poor optic sight. It was simply convenient to reliable them as workers once there wasn't a nerd for more soldiers.

There are very few aquatic bots in cybertron as the planet has very little in terms of "sea" it has a few, deep cold patches of coolant that keep primus frame cold. Most aquatic alts are feral or cold constructed

The rust sea is a vast dessert of uncharted territory. The bots here are nearly 80% feral, there's rumors that some harsher sub categories of the standards live deep in the sands due to wild hot spots adapting.

Transport frames are trucks, trains, busses, cargo ships and planes. The diference is their size class.

When optimus was Orion he was a light weight class transport frame, he became a heavy weight as optimus. had to learn the etiquette for honking his now louder horn and to control his smoke output

Two wheelers are often looked down apoun as weak and as a snobby alt.

Speedster frames like blurr and Mirage and knockout originate from velocitron. The city has very harsh beauty standards. Even one kilo more makes you overweight, being slow is a social blunder. (ozempoc knockout from the comics haunts me FUCK YOU MEAN BLURR IS FAT?! "

I'll give it to bayverse... I love how their cybertronian sounds. Cybertronian accents don't sound melodic to humans, it makes the alredy foreign sounds of cybertronian sound even more like machinery, seeker ant is a lot of engine whistles, tones, and fans.

If optimus spoke with his accent from when he was Orion his cybertronian would sound like granite being driven over slowly. Megatron thinks its lovely.

When starscream speaks seekercant his voice dosent change it's scratching but it somehow sounds right now. Like how people sound off until they speak their language. Megatron hates to admit it sounds lovely

Kaon is the Gotham of cybertron. At least rent is low. Or zero is you are owned.

Train alts speak similarly to shuttles and both types consider the other their land/sky cousins.

With Bee, being the supervisor, they would see each other a lot but how did Sentinel get tangled up with the ruler and his conjunx

Still figuring out the lore myself tbh. Even if they aren't Canon to the au I want to talk about all the possible ships <3 I have so much fun with that.

These 3 have 0 chance of developing into real relationships. They have one night stand potential at best.

Clarification, optimus and megatron aren't really conjuxed, it was just for the sake of ruling together and nostalgia. They are in love with the idea of each other and who they used to be. Were megatron d16 again or optimus became Orion they would be obsessed with each other. So for now they aren't particularly worried if the other sleeps with other bots.

Sentbee

Trully the most posible one. Perhaps even the least terrible for sentinel

Comes from their slightly unhealthy codependency > Bumblebee specifically

Bee never would confirm anything because cogless bots are still the bottom of society and he dosent like them

Sentinel is just a special case to him because he can project himself into a stronger bot around him. And sentinel is one of the few who still sometimes kinda look up at him like he can do something great.

Sentinel thinks bee is... Complicated. He treats him OK, and let's him get away with more than he should but he's an ass to all his other friends and even himself.

Sentinel hates how bee will handle him like he's made of glass but then feel hipocritical when he does take up the offer of less work when his back pain gets too much.

It's mostly an on and off not really my boyfriend but we kissed and cuddled in secret sort of thing.

Bumblebee wishes sentinel had a cog so he could be open with him and have his attention like airachnid does but hates the thought of sentinel not needing him.

Sentinel wishes others would give him the slight chances bumblebee some times gives him but hates how wishy washy he is with his attention.

They fall out completely after sentinel goes and competes in the Primes collyseum.

Bumblebee dosent trow him and airachnid to lv 50 after out sheer embarrassment and worry when airachnid comes back alone.

But when sentinel comes back with red and blue paint transfers, dents and shaky he loses it a bit.

He yells at both of them for being stupid and reckless, and decides he needs to make sure they don't do something so stupid again.

He sends them both to sub lv 50 where they'll be safe, where he won't have to face them again.

Or so he thinks.

Sentop

This would happen after sentinel does get to participate in the collyseum battle by sneaking in.

After failing, because he went to save airachnid, they are taken to the repair wing and just like in Canon are praised for the bold move and improving productivity.

Megatron is mostly uninterested here and just gives them the approval for a good fight. But says they could have done better if they worried less for the other (miserably married loser)

But optimus goes out on the praise, and the worried prime act and offers to get them checked over in their private suite.

Airachnid knows sentinel is constantly in pain, and is a huge optimus fan. So she asks if she could get pointers from megatron while sentinel gets checked over. Optimus agrees a bit too fast.

This is where the whole 'sentinel won't say no' part comes in.

Optimus is miserably married to megatron, but he wants someone who NEEDS him. Someone defenseless to protect and guide.

Sentinel is an easy outlet for one night of fun.

Optimus showers him in care and praise. Smothers him really but sentinel dosent want to be ungrateful, even if he hates being handled like this.

When optimus suggests to interface. sentinel wants to think of it as an honor but by the time it's over and he's walking back to the barracks he just wants a shower

He hates that he dosent understand why, when optimus was so nice through it all.

Megasent

This one I'm still on the bench about. I'm definitely willing to explore outside of the au real Canon in other asks.

Probably the darkest one. And they don't even get to sleep together for it.

Its based on that one storyboard from the movie scene that got taken off, when the miners get captured and find alpha trion in jail.

In this au, the entire group gets captured when megatron and his bots find the missing elite guard.

Airachnid and darkwing are taken inmediatly to optimus like d-16 and b-127 where. These 2 because megatron views them as the dangerous one in the group.

He then goes down and takes sentinel out just to take him to his own quarters.

At first sentinel expects megatron to kill him himself but surprisingly he just looks at him.

To megatron sentinel is so much like how Orion was. Spunky, rebellious, curious and shiny. Specially now that he's cleaned up and cogged.

Megatron already thinks he's rather weak and that this whole idea was airachnids doing.

He gives sentinel an out. Stay with him, and he walks away from execution. Gets to live the pampered life as his consort.

Megatron wants to "save" sentinel in his own way. Obedience for safety.

He wants to replace the bitter hole Orion left when he became optimus with someone who can't become better then him.

He gives sentinel an ultimatum, he can sleep on it and tomorrow, by the time optimus plans what he's going to tell the public, before the execution he has to decide.

He keeps sentinel in his room and forces him to stay with him the night. Just holds him down and lists off the perks of staying.

He remarks on taking his wings off again. He's not gonna need them in the prime palace, and he likes the little nubs they where before.

Sentinel only gets away because of starscream (gonna address this in another post)

Again, sentinel is left frustrated by how much it shakes him. At least with optimus he can say it was because he slept with the enemy

megatron didn't interface him so he's even more frustrated by his own self persieved "weakness"

Starscream after killing whoever was in the way of him and his locked kid just to be hunted down like some kind of rabid animal is my roman empire now 💔💔💔 In all seriousness I feel like Megatron would not care for the *why* Starscream did it but on *how* to get rid of him

Megatron doesn't care one daaammmm about starscream at this point of the story. Lmao.

Things where going so good and starscream did what he does best with his plans, ruin them by running away.

At that point of the au megatron thinks things where settling down and suddenly got hit with like 4 mayor events and he desperately wanted to blame someone. Too bad he's in the habit of blaming starscream by default.

Megatron is initially just trying to catch starscream when he got out but when they discover he apparently had sparklings it kinda halts them all... For like 2 days.

Megatron quickly joins the "he's unfit to be a carrier" bandwagon most of the autobots are running on to justify to themselves hunting down a first time single carrier on the run with 5 kids.

Megatron tells himself it's what's best for the kids that they catch starscream and look after them themselves. He's in an echo chamber of the same opinion with the autobots all agreeing so he physically can't see why he's wrong.

By the time starscream kills in retaliation for his kids megatron takes it as the green light. just fully sees starscream as the problem. Even if it's clear starscream didn't even mean to.

Not that star wouldn't kill, but he acted on adrenaline that time, he was just cornered and angry.

It takes the terrans getting on his way multiple times to stop him whenever he gets his hands on starscream. Then he goes to badmouthing starscream to try and reason with them. (fails every time)

It still takes for dot to be apprehensive of letting megatron near her own kids for him to come to the realization. Aparently chasing a new parent around the forest with a gun and calling him and evil, spineless coward while his 5 kids play human shield isn't the best thing morally.

Just like in the show he sew saws between "we have to capture him he's a danger" to "we have to help them. starscream can be fixed"

Deep down he does want starscream back to his side, but on his own terms. Megatron wants starscream where he can watch him, keep the kids and him safe, but only as long as he behaves.

Starscream is just having the worst fucking time of his life to be honest. Megatron is a repeating figure on his nightmares along with GHOST. He's always on persuit and every noise sounds like a fusion cannon when you're scared enough.

Megatron sets starscreams health back a lot at the start of the au while only getting to actually hit him like 3 times.

Ok hear me out metal flock au starscream fighting with (literally) everything he has so that the terrans stay safe from GHOST

He absolutely would. Someone should check his energon pressure 💔

He'd never say it out loud but they mean the world to him now. His biggest fear besides losing them is getting them put in a cage.

Starscream is specially worried on how twitch and nightshade might cope without being able to fly.

Most battles with the autobots he runs away from both for safety and genuinely not believing they'd go as far as to lock up the kids. Take them away from him? Sure, turn them against him? They'd try. But not lock a the last sparklings around in a tiny cell to be prodded by GHOST.

But any battle with ghost he just looses it. He can't give them an inch. Too afraid one of the kids might get caught because of their slight unwillingness to attack.

The kids don't mind, they are still being raised by starscream after all and it's always ghost or the autobots that attack first so it's tit for tat in their mind.

A particular scenario is the one time GHOST gets one of the terrans down. Starscream just kills them, all of them. It's the kids first interaction with death. Starscream isn't very proud to be the one to introduce it to them, but also glad it wasn't through losing someone they actually care about.

It does mark the point where the autobots lock in on trying to catch starscream.
