Thunderbolts* Ramble/review

Hiya! Just a quick update, I realise I picked a really weird time to actually start posting as I am right in the middle of exam season. Anyway, this is barely going to be coherent so prepare.

I saw this film a few weeks ago so I can’t remember every detail. I will be discussing spoilers, you have been warned.

I absolutely love this film! It has that old-school marvel feel that I’ve been missing in recent marvel films, while also being completely new for the MCU. Every character is both amazing and hilarious. The ending was definitely unexpected… I loved the message of the film and I think the ending is great - solving problems with a hug is always a win in my book - but I was slightly expecting something more. Maybe I was expecting it to end with a big avengers-level fight? Either way, a tad bit of a letdown. I did also want a little more character from everyone else, it felt more like a Yelena movie than anything else. I love Yelena though so I’m not really complaining. Don’t get me wrong, I did love it! And I loved the introduction of the “New Avengers”! Overall, a very fun film with a good message. Will definitely rewatch 500 times.

And now time for the ramble:

I cannot express how much I love this film and I can’t stop thinking about it! The ‘New Avengers’ are bringing me straight back to 2012 era headcanons and I couldn’t be happier. The found family trope is everything to me! I wish marvel would develop some characters past side character status (Bucky, Ava and Alexei), like I thought we’d see everyone’s shame rooms, not just Yelena and Bobs, but again, it felt more like a Yelena movie.

I don’t understand how they could take one of my least favourite marvel characters, John Walker, and actually make me sympathise with him. Not only that, this film actually made me like him! And Bob! He’s such a good character! And Bucky is so hot. The hole team is broken and they’re perfect. I can’t wait to see more of them!

This probably isn’t the best for my first film review, not all that in-depth but oh well. I’ll get better. I was going to go over each character briefly but this post is already quite long. I’m probably going to rewatch and review Brave New World next! Enjoy!
