Happy fourth anniversary Swamp Thing (2019)!
Although I’ve unfortunately had much less time for this sideblog, I still can’t forget one of my favorite streaming shows and the bittersweet pleasure that rewatches bring.
But with the changes in management at DC and the mention of a Swamp Thing movie in the future-which I foolishly hope has the same cast/director/writer(s)-there’s a small possibility we may explore this series again in some measure.
And even if that isn’t the case, at least we have a wonderful series to enjoy.

Happy third anniversary Swamp Thing (2019)!
Three years have gone by rather quickly since the premiere of this wonderful show. Based on the DC comic book characters created by writer Len Wein and artist Bernie Wrightson, Swamp Thing was a mixture of Southern Gothic, traditional horror and a dash of existentialism towards the end of the series.
Its main characters were engaging-even while wearing a remarkable costume-and its plot definitely had room to grow to encompass the fascinating and unique themes explored by its comic counterpart.
Swamp Thing’s inevitable cancellation was disappointing-especially since there were some threads that were left hanging-but its small fandom does still carry on. Unfortunately, anyone who is interested in watching the series may have to search for it, as it currently isn’t being shown on HBO Max or the CW any longer. But if you are able to get a hold of it, I would definitely recommend it.
It’s not a perfect series, but it still has the potential to be something great.

It’s been quite awhile and yet I still remain a devoted fan of this wonderful series. I’m doing a rewatch of the series to coincide with the third anniversary of Swamp Thing and the first episode still remains my favorite.
It was a marvelous introduction to our characters and to the intriguing setting of Marais. The unpleasant body horror was coupled with emotional scenes between Abby and Maria and Abby and Alec and the audience was given a hint of what might have been between Abby and Alec.
A small part of me still hopes that Swamp Thing may receive a renewal or possibly a feature in another series. But even if it doesn’t come to pass, I’m still grateful to have been granted this series and the memories of its fandom when it was active.

In a little more than a week, Swamp Thing will be premiering on The CW. I’m excited to do a rewatch and given how Halloween is almost here, it seems rather fitting.

Happy Birthday Swamp Thing (2019)!
It’s hard to believe that it’s really been a year since Swamp Thing premiered on DC Universe. I subscribed to DC Universe specifically to watch it and I was so excited to see a DC comic character that I enjoyed reading about for years being brought to the screen yet again.
And what an awesome premiere the first episode was. It still remains on of my favorite television pilots; with incredible potential, charming leads and an excellent balance between horror and heartfelt emotion.
Although the news of cancellation was disappointing-to say the very least-it was still awesome to wake up on Friday mornings to watch a new episode and then log on to Tumblr and witness the reactions and comments of other fans.
And also randomly shitposting because I have no self-control and my sense of humor is just terrible.
One year later and our little fandom still chugs on. It’s wonderful to know that there are those out there who love the series and still support it. The incredible edits, writing and fanart that have been created are a fabulous reflection of that support.
With luck having Swamp Thing on the CW later this year will only lead to more fans, more creativity-and hopefully a renewed interest-if not a renewal-in the series.
Only time will tell.

The first season of Swamp Thing is coming to the CW and I’m truly hoping that it garners more attention and fans. Although the potential for a revival is probably still a bit far-fetched, perhaps having a larger potential audience not limited solely to streaming will turn a lingering hope for a second season into a reality.

I never thought it would happen, but I’ve managed to reach 100 followers! You guys are awesome and thank you all so much for following my sideblog. It’s so wonderful to know that the Swamp Thing (television) fandom is still kicking almost a year later despite it all.
