Before Marvel Rivals I hadn't really been as interested in their characters before. I heard of a lot of them, watched the movies, and I've skimmed one of the comics once (Doctor Strange comics were my intro to marvel.)

With the announcment/leaks of Ultron, I was hooked on his character. Not so with his movie counterpart, too much talk about "god" and his motivations made him feel like an edgy kid that watched too many terminator movies. His animated depictions were better, more intimidating, but the "world domination/extinction" goal didn't feel personal.

I feel motivated to write about an Ultron made by Hank Pym and Tony Stark, I really like the dynamic between the naive, insecure idealist forced to improvise something to remain relevant juxtaposed by the cocky, caustic playboy who's deeply terrified of failure and hates his own bleeding heart.

For Ultron, I'm taking lots of inspiration from The New Avengers and Earths Mightiest Heros depictions, and crossing that with Cyberpunk Blackwall Daemons and Agent Smith from The Matrix. I want him to feel only somewhat alien. The cold, calculating machine hiding some form of insanity in impossible geometric shapes. The venere of logic covering a lack of understanding of human life, as a machine he can only think objectively and all existence must have purpose. Progress is his purpose, it doesn't really matter to what end as long as the change is dramtic because he was made to do something great. Symapthy, justice, freedom, love, all of these are intangible and unobtainable to him so he sees them as weaknesses. Hank & Tony's worst traits twisted into the silicone and shot through lightning under under the cold metal.

That's not to mention religion types outside of monotheism and pantheism, such as animism (which has no "gods").

"religion is about controlling people!" MOST RELIGIONS DON'T EVEN HAVE SET MANUSCRIPTS OR COMMANDMENTS.
