Running Away To You

Ao'nung x Reader x Neteyam

(Oh my gosh, this took me so long to write, I had to have it in my WIP for so long and I was slowly picking away at it. I finally sat down to just get this done. I did kinda rush the end and I'm not super happy with it but I also suck at slow burn.)

Summary: Request - Hii i have a idea for neteyam x reader x aonung. What if reader is from a different Clan and they meet cause of War or whatever and all three of them have a kind of secret fling going on until they do the bond and it becomes official

You had to leave your clan because of your brother's anger. You find yourself meeting Ao'nung and Neteyam. their relationship was something that once you found out, you'd join. Turns out your brother wasn't done with you.

Warnings: minor violence

You swam from your clan on the Metkayina waters; you ran from your home once war was sought out there by your own brother. He felt he should be the next olo’eyktan, but your parents thought it best that you and your mate ruled rather than your angry brother. Once you knew he was coming for you, you left. Your parents knew, but you had to leave. Mostly, part of the reason for leaving is that you need to find a mate. One that could rule by your side, one that could best your brother and his unending wrath.

You swam to the next closest clan in the eastern sea; you happened to know the olo’eyktan and tshaik well. Tonowari and Ronal allowed you to stay; they knew a lot of what your brother was like. You didn’t plan to come here and mate with Ao’nung, but once Ronal mentioned it to you, it wasn’t an awful idea.

You’ve known Ao’nung and his sister Tsireya for a long time. Although you weren’t super close, you were good friends with them. Tsireya was thrilled to have a new sister, as you would be living with the olo’eyktan. Ao’nung, however, was different. He thought you were pretty, but he couldn’t care less; he had someone.

The Sullys arrived here months ago now, Ao’nung and Neteyam didn’t get off on the right foot initially, but now they were sneaking around behind everyone’s back.

Ao’nung knew he needed to mate eventually; his parents would be furious if he never produced an heir. As of right now, all Ao’nung was concerned with was Neteyam, what he was doing and where he was going. He didn’t care about anything but this boy, he was smitten with him. Neteyam could say the same, Ao’nung was all he ever needed. The two of them outwardly to everyone else just seemed like good friends, but when the two of them were alone, they were acting like a mated pair.

It was easy to pick up on some of their body language if you were looking, but even if you caught it, most would attribute it to their close friendship. You did too, you just thought that they were best bros, until you caught them.

They just so happened to be by some trees by the shore; they sat next to each other with Neteyam’s arm around Ao’nung’s shoulders. Ao’nung relaxed his body into Neteyam’s, and they would talk about whatever came to their minds and would occasionally laugh.

You happened to be walking the shoreline when you saw them, that definitely didn’t look like best friends. Someone like Ao’nung would never do that with someone other than his mate, so why was he doing it with Neteyam? Then Neteyam kissed Ao’nung’s forehead? That left you very confused; you weren’t sure what was going on.

That’s how you were the first to know of their relationship.

You actually became good friends with the guys.

You, Ao’nung, and Neteyam went out on ilus; the boys felt safe to be themselves around you. You would smile as you saw them interact, they were so in love that it made your heart smile. Sometimes, you felt like the biggest third wheel they were so deeply in love that you could see.

You went out to explore this cave that Ao’nung and Neteyam had found and claimed as their own. They would go out there commonly to be alone and away from the world. They came here often to be alone; they didn’t have to worry about others seeing them here. You felt honoured that you even got to see this spot, it would later become a safe place for you too.

You went into the cave with the boys, you came up from under the water and saw a dark cave being lit up by bioluminescent algae. It was gorgeous; you couldn’t help the amazement on your face, Ao’nung looked at you as you smiled. Neteyam and Ao’nung looked at each other and smirked.

Ao’nung had to admit he loved Neteyam more than anything, but when you came back. He had seen you again; it had been so long, and he thought you were quite pretty. He felt bad for having these feelings towards you and not saying anything to Neteyam.

You had sat in the cave for hours talking like you normally did outside in the sand or out splashing in the waters. You were close with these boys, knowing their dark secret helped.

Ao’nung talked to Neteyam that night; he was nervous to bring up the idea of liking you. He wanted to propose to Neteyam the idea of having you join them.

Ao’nung had met Neteyam at night on the beach like they usually did. Ao’nung sat down next to Neteyam; he could tell Ao’nung wanted to tell him something.

“What is it, syulang? I can tell you’re burning to ask me something,” Neteyam said.

“I do want to tell you something. I’m just not sure how to approach it,” Ao’nung said with uncertainty on his face.

“You can say anything to me, and I’d never judge you. You know that.”

“I know, I just don’t think there would be turning back from this.”

“We can work on it together if you tell me.”

“I think, I think I like (y/n). Like I like like her.”

Neteyam’s face showed shock before he kissed Ao’nung, “she is quite pretty.”

“I wanted to propose her joining us.”

“I think I would like that.”

Ao’nung’s face lit up, he then pushed Neteyam over and started to kiss him many times.

They planned to tell you the following night; that way, they could talk further about it.

In the morning, when Ao’nung woke up, he felt this sense of joy in the air. He walked out to see his parents, and that's when his mom asked for him to meet in the tshaik tent.

“What’s this about mom?”

“Your father and I have been talking…”

“And?”

“We want you to mate with (y/n). She needs to take over her parents’ spot as tshaik and you as her olo’eyktan.”

Ao’nung’s face held shock; he couldn’t believe it. He liked you, but then there was Neteyam. He knew why you left and came here, but clearly, there was more than you let on. “Why her?”

“Because you will be a good leader, and you will be able to fight.”

“Why me? Don’t I have to be here?”

“Your sister can lead. We need you to help the people.”

“Why can’t she stay here?”

“They need a new leader, and her brother can’t be the one.”

“What about her brother?”

“Her brother is unfit to lead, and that’s all you need to know. You will mate with her. Bring her a courting gift tomorrow.”

Ao’nung wanted to fight back, but he knew his mother was at her wit's end. He knew there was no fighting her; his mother always had the last word. Ao’nung knew there was no way out of this, but he was also super pissed off now. Ao’nung went to Neteyam, Ao’nung knew Neteyam would understand and comfort him. Ao’nung found Neteyam sitting by the shore, he sat next to him and sighed before resting his head on Neteyam.

“What’s wrong.”

“Remember how we talked about potentially letting (y/n) in on our thing?”

“Yeah, what about it?”

“My mother just told me I have to mate with her.”

“Neteyam moved away slightly and looked at Ao’nung in the eyes, “you serious?”

“Yeah, she kind of stopped me and said that she and my father wanted it and that it has to happen, and there’s no other way. Then there was something about her brother and that he’s unfit to lead to I would have to go back with her.”

“Ao’nung, that’s too much. What are we going to do? You can’t leave. What if she doesn’t accept us, or what if she does but doesn’t want you or doesn’t want me, or what if she-“

Ao’nung kissed Neteyam to stop his incessant worrying, “we will work it out. Don’t worry.”

“But either way, we would have to go back to her clan,” Neteyam said.

“We talk with her tomorrow, find out what’s really going on. Plus, my mother wants me to talk with her tomorrow and bring her a courting gift.”

“Are we going to ask her tomorrow to join us then?”

“I’m okay with that if you’re okay with it.”

“Let’s do it.”

The following morning, you were off to do your chores, and when you were finally more secluded by the waters, you saw Ao’nung and Neteyam coming over to you. You didn’t think much of it; you hung around the lovers often. You were sitting on the sand, fixing fishing nets and reknotting it. Ao’nung squatted down next to you, his strong thighs right next to you. Ao’nung held a necklace in his hand; you looked up from his muscular thighs and up into his eyes.

“We have a question?”

“We?” You couldn’t stop yourself from smiling as Ao’nung talked for both himself and Neteyam next to him.

“Yes, the both of us.”

“What is it?”

“We uh, we want you to join us,” Ao’nung presented you with the necklace.

“Wait, like join you both, as in you both courting me?”

“Yes, you’re the only one that knows about us, and my mother wants me to court you of course, she doesn’t know about him. But we were just talking about wanting you to join us when my mother told me, and I figured that was a sign.”

“I’ll join you both,” you smiled at both of them.

Ao’nung went to put the necklace on you as Neteyam sat down next to you. Ao’nung tied the necklace off, he sat down on the other side of you and watched as you played with Neteyam’s braids like normal.

“I did have one question though.”

“What is it?” You asked, looking away from Neteyam.

“My mom said some stuff about your brother; she said that I would have to go back to your clan because your brother can’t lead. Why?”

You looked down at your lap, suddenly, the ribbons on your loincloth were particularly interesting. “My brother can’t lead. He’s just not right.”

“Why not? What did he do?” Neteyam said as he took your hand into his lightly.

“He’s just angry and doesn’t want the best for the people. He only got angrier when my parents chose me to lead. He’s violent when he’s angry and I had to leave for my safety. I came here because I needed to find a mate, bring them home and banish him. I don’t even know if I want that.”

“Suylang, that’s awful,” Ao’nung said.

“I didn’t have a choice; I don’t even know if I want to go back.”

“You shouldn’t have to,” Neteyam said.

“But all those people, my family. I just wish my brother wasn’t so angry.”

Ao’nung brushes some hair off your forehead, “you’re not going to do anything you don’t want to do. We will be here to protect you.”

Weeks passed, and Ao’nung’s mom was happy that he was courting you and seemed to be getting along with you quite well. Ao’nung’s mother and father were getting him ready to eventually lead and leave with you to go to your clan. Ao’nung was just happy to have you and Neteyam by his side.

But eventually, all good things must come to an end.

You were sitting on the pathway by all the maruis; you had your arm around both of their shoulders. You were just spending time with your boys; you were happy here with them.

The past few days, you couldn’t help the feeling of being watched. You figured it might just be from your boys, but it was hard to brush off. You felt like whenever you looked into the water, something was staring back, and it made you extremely anxious.

Sitting on the ledge of the bouncy pathway, looking into the water where your feet hovered above it, you felt like you could see it.

You felt Ao’nung kiss your shoulder; he knew how anxious you had been recently. He could feel your hand playing with his hair more and mindlessly, lightly scratching his skin; he could tell something was bothering you.

“Are you okay?”

“Do you see something in the water?”

“No, I don’t see anything, syulang,” Ao’nung said to you.

“I don’t see anything either,” Neteyam said as well.

“I could’ve sworn, but maybe not.”

“We're here, you have nothing to worry about,” Ao’nung kissed you.

That’s when something grabbed your ankle and pulled you down into the water; you grabbed onto Ao’nung as you were forced underwater. Ao’nung and Neteyam went into the water with you only to see you try your hardest to get away from another Na’vi. Your body flailed around in the water; bubbles were being pushed around, blocking a lot of Neteyam’s and Ao’nung’s vision.

Your boys grabbed your arms and tried to pull you away from the grasp of this Na’vi, but they were too strong. You struggled occasionally you’d get free, but you wouldn’t get far before their hands were on you again. Ao’nung got out of the water to get help clearly he and Neteyam weren’t strong enough.

Ao’nung went for his father; he didn’t know what else to do.

A few minutes later, Tonowari showed up, he and Ao’nung dove into the water and saw you still fighting. Your body was scraped up from the Na’vi’s hands on your legs, feet, hands, and arms. Tonowari tried to pull this Na’vi away from you; you were going to drown at some point soon, he knew that much. You were screaming and losing so much air, not to mention the water you were inhaling, Tonowari knew he had no other choice.

Tonowari brought his spear, if it was you or this Na’vi, it was going to be you.

Tonowari threw his spear, and it hit the Na’vi right in the chest. It was enough for you to get away enough to breathe, you went to the surface and continued to swim towards the shore. It was quite far away as the Na’vi had pulled you farther and farther away from the clan. When you got to the surface, you were coughing up water and trying so hard to breathe. Ao’nung and Neteyam were by your side right away, helping you get to the shore.

Tonowari and this Na’vi were still going at it; he wasn’t going down, and Tonowari didn’t know how to stop him without really killing him. Tonowari took his spear again and rammed it into his stomach, Tonowari didn’t want to hurt anyone, but he had no choice.

Once you were on the shore, it wasn’t long before you saw Tonowari come up with that Na’vi. Ronal was there to take a look at you, you and her looked up to see Tonowari coming to the shore with a limp Na’vi.

“What happened?” Ronal asked as she saw the blood on the Na’vi’s chest.

“We have to try and save him; it was the only way to make him stop.”

“No,” your voice sounded damaged, thanks to all the screaming and coughing you had done.

Everyone looked at you, you got up and walked over to the body Tonowari had laid out on the sand. Your hands cupped the Na’vi’s cheeks.

“You did this to yourself, Tritannus (iykyk). I didn’t want this for you. You’re the one that came after me. I wasn’t going to banish you like mother and father wanted. I loved you so much, but you became dark. You were misguided; I can’t have you hurting the ones I love.” You kissed his forehead.

“Is that your brother?” Ao’nung asked.

You nodded.

“He came after you.”

You nodded again.

A few days later, your parents came for the burial. You cried to them the entire time; you could feel it yourself, and you could feel it on your parents. Everything felt lighter and brighter; he was like a dark cloud, and he brought the storm with him wherever he went.

After the ceremony, you were sobbing, and you were hugging Neteyam with Ao’nung kissing your shoulder. You looked up and kissed Neteyam, then turned your head around to kiss Ao’nung.

“What do you say about making it official tonight,” Ao’nung suggested.

“I would like that,” you said.

Providing

Tsu'tey x Reader

Summary: Just some fluff about Tsu'tey being a good mate while still being rude to everyone else.

Tsu’tey called himself a provider, he was a provider of many things to many people. He provided for his clan, his family, and his home but he’d never provide for anyone more than you. He prided himself on being the best mate ever and being able to protect you and provide for you. You would tell him constantly that he was the best mate anyone could ask for, it only served to inflate his ego further.

However, one thing Tsu’tey hated, you were so different from him and not just because you were a girl but because you were human still. Now you did have an avatar, you have mated with him before Eywa, but you did want to wait before fully transferring over your consciousness completely. You and Norm enjoyed getting to have a human side still. Tsu’tey hated it, he hated that when you fell asleep you weren’t really there with him. Don’t get me wrong, caring for two bodies is a challenge and sometimes you do wish that you didn’t have to. Tsu’tey hated that sometimes you’d sleep in or something and he’d have to go to the sky people and see you. He also hated when you got sick or something and then you wouldn’t link in for a while, he hated not having you in your avatar body.

Like today, you stayed up really late doing some paperwork and science experiments with some plants and you may have gone to bed at like four in the morning. The Na’vi were early risers for the most part, so when you weren’t up at around nine, Tsu’tey came to you. He walked over to the scientists’ tents and metal home base with his usual scowl on his face. He hated being over here with the humans, he warmed up to the sky people once he got to know you and Jake but he still didn’t love being by a whole bunch of them.

He walked up to the metal door, crouched down to get inside and grabbed one of the breathing masks. He walked into the lab and saw some faces he recognized not that he cared about any of them.

“Hey Tsu’tey,” Norm said as he brought his fingers to his forehead to sign ‘I see you’ which Tsu’tey returned out of respect.

“I’m looking for my mate.”

“She’s in her room.”

Tsu’tey stayed quiet, he didn’t know where your room was or at least couldn’t remember.

“It’s at the back, first right. You’ll see her name on the door.”

Tsu’tey nodded as he headed to your room with the directions given to him. He saw your name on the door, after you showed him how to spell your name and what your name being written out in English looked like, and entered the room. Boy, you were a sight for sore eyes, you had kicked some of the sheets off your body in your sleep. Your arms were raised and your head rested on its side as you lay on your back. You looked so peaceful and so soft, Tsu’tey couldn’t help but smile and brush the back of a finger on your cheek.

You stirred lightly, Tsu’tey placed a hand on your exposed stomach, his hands were so warm. Since Pandora was so hot, you wore next to nothing to sleep, your short shorts and cropped tank top revealed a lot of skin. Tsu’tey wasn’t bothered by it, not to mention he liked to feel your soft and smooth skin. His large hand was the size of your torso, his hand splayed on your stomach dwarfing you compared to him.

He decided to kiss you awake, he kissed your forehead then your stomach. He felt your legs move and watched as your face contorted and you whined as you were being woken from your slumber. Your eyes opened slowly and you looked at the blue giant kneeling by your bed, you smiled at him and stretched. You move to sit up a little and kiss his cheek, he pulls you right off the bed and into his lap. He held you close to his large body and you snuggled into him.

“I missed you this morning.”

“Sorry, I was up late.”

“I told you not to do that.”

“But I was making good headway.”

“Doesn’t matter.”

“I’m sorry Tsu’tey, how could I ever make it up to you.”

“Be with me forever.”

“I already am.”

He kissed your cheek and you giggled slightly, he kissed you a few more times as you giggled and squirmed in his hold. His large hands held onto your tiny body as you held onto his much larger and longer arms.

You finally decided to get up out of bed, you stretched and grabbed your water bottle by your bed. You drank the little bit left inside before the sound of you sucking in air through the straw could be heard. You went to leave your room to get more water for your water bottle before Tsu’tey wrapped his arm around your waist.

“Where are you going?”

“Just to get more water.”

“I’ll get it for you.”

“It’s fine Tsu’tey, really.”

“I am your mate and I can provide for you.”

“Do you even know where the water cooler is?”

“I can find it.”

“Well, all the power to you then,” you hand him your water bottle and sit on your bed as he leaves, you knew there was no fighting with him on it.

He leaves your room and walks to where all the scientists are.

“You,” Tsu’tey points at Norm, “where do I find the water to fill this?” Tsu’tey showed him your water bottle he held.

“I can fill it up for you.”

“No, I can fill it myself for my mate.”

“It would probably be easier if I-“

“Just show me where it is.”

“It’s back down the same hallway as the bedrooms, but it will be the room without a door. You see the jug with the water in it. Just push the little handle down.” Tsu’tey didn’t entirely understand but he was nothing if not a good mate.

Tsu’tey went and searched for the contraption the human talked about, once he found what he presumed was the machine, he kneeled down and his large hand held your water bottle and his single finger pushed down on the lever. He felt so silly for doing things this way when he could go out and forge you fresh water with no problem.

He felt too big for this place and really, he was, it was made for at best a six-foot frame, he was like quadruple that. He went back to your room and handed you your water bottle, you had sat up on your bed and Tsu’tey sat on the floor in front of you. You smiled at him and took a big drink.

“Thank you.”

“Anything for my mate.”

Finally Found You

Tonowari x Reader x Ronal

Summary: Jake and Tonowari find your body washed up on the shore, it's a forest Na'vi's body. Once Jake sees your face, he remembers you and it scares him. You were blue but you never had a Na'vi body. Ronal nurses you back to health and Tonowari shows you around. You told Jake about all of Ardmore's plans and what had happened, only you didn't know how you ended up on the Metkayina shore beaten to a pulp. Tonowari and Ronal end up falling for you, and once you mate with them, you'll do anything to protect your family, even kill again.

Warnings: smut, canon typical violence, self-esteem issues, bisexual reader, mating rituals, hurt/comfort

The last thing you remembered was dark, it was pitch black. You feel like maybe there were waves, maybe you heard waves, but maybe it was just your mind making things up in the coldness of dark and lonely silence.

Jake and Tonowari were going over some of the plans that the warriors and hunters would be going over, they were deep in conversation when they heard kids screaming. Jake and Tonowari turned around to see mothers holding onto their kids, they both walked closer to the shore.

It was a forest Na’vi body, the body was female and completely naked, it also looked pretty bruised up from the sight of it. Tonowari and Jake pulled the body from the water and covered it in a blanket. When they flipped you onto your back, Jake was shocked, he knew you. He stumbled back, he quite literally saw the face of a ghost.

“Are you okay?” Tonowari asked Jake seeing the look on his face.

Jake nodded; he couldn’t form words. You were there when home tree went down, you and Trudy were in her helicopter. You left after they did; you gave them word Quaritch was coming and stayed to help. You and Trudy died when her helicopter went down. You were Marines and a Na’vi sympathizer, but you never had an avatar. He didn’t understand, he didn’t know what to think.

“Jake?” Tonowari asked again, “are you sure you’re alright?”

“I knew her, the face. I knew her as a sky person. When she was also a sky person. It doesn’t make sense. She died; I saw her die. She was always on the outside but she was never blue. I don’t know what happened.”

Tonowari squatted down by your face, despite all the bruising, you were quite pretty. That’s when he felt it, your warm breath on his cheek. It was barely there but he stood up and looked at Jake.

“She’s still alive, I felt her breathe. There her chest is rising and falling ever so slightly. Help me take her to the Tshaik’s tent.”

Tonowari and Jake took you to the Tshaik’s tent and Ronal looked at what was wrong.

“We will leave her here to rest and recover. I don’t know what happened to her but it looks like she was beaten within an inch of her life. Her body will take time to recover. She’ll be lucky to wake up in the next few days,” Ronal said.

However, in the next few days, you woke up.

Ronal was mixing some herbs, you sat up and took the deepest breath Ronal has ever heard, like your lungs had never known what oxygen was. You looked around, your eyes widened when you saw Ronal.

“What happened?” You asked quietly after staring for a moment.

Ronal came over to you, “you look better now that you’re awake. I will get the boys.”

“Who?” you questioned as she left.

Moments later, Tonowari and Jake followed through the opening with Ronal.

“Y/N,” Jake said.

“Jake?” You sat up more and hugged him. “Jake, what’s going on?”

“I could ask you the same thing. Last I saw you; you went down in Trudy’s burning helicopter.”

“I have to tell you something.”

“What is it?”

“There was this project, Project Phoenix, I signed up for it back when we were at Hell’s Gate, long before home tree went down. They selected certain marines to get brain scans and then we’d use them to learn and fight fire with fire. A couple of months ago, I woke up with the memories of y/n. I’ve always loved the people but you made me fall in love with the Na’vi even more. I forgot all about the project and they didn’t remember about me switching sides, clearly. I did but only some of it, obviously, I didn’t know how I died or if I did at all. General Ardmore is who we’d answer to, me, Quaritch, Wainfleet, Zdog, Walker, Fike, Ja, Prager, Warren, Mansk, Zhang, and Brown. We were to go boots on the ground in the rainforest and look for you, we went out like twice. We never found you. last thing I remember was heading back to the base, a helicopter was coming for us and then it was lights out.”

“Well, they did. Or they found some of my kids at least. That's why I'm here. However, they beat you pretty badly I think and stripped you and threw you in the ocean. Probably thought they killed you.”

“I think I wish they did,” you looked up at Jake, tears starting to well up in your eyes.

“Don’t say that.”

“I’m an abomination. I died; I don’t get second chances. I’m on the bad guy’s side. Jake – I don’t want this. They brought us all back to do their bidding. I’m not a lap dog, I’m not kissing ass again,” you felt the tears roll down your cheeks.

“You’re with us now. You don’t have to go back. You can be a warrior with us now.”

“I don’t want to fight anymore. I don’t wanna live like this. I don’t want to fight again. I was bred to fight and if I’m using this second chance, I’m not killing again.”

“There are many jobs here that you could do. You don’t have to waste this chance.”

Tonowari looked at you and smiled, “you are welcome to stay. We could always use the help.”

“Thank you. And thank you for saving me,” you looked at Tonowari and smiled as another tear fell down your cheek.

“You’re welcome. I can show you to your mauri.”

I did not, I repeat, I did not start watching Aquamarine and got inspired.

Summary: You came to help Jake's daughter, Kiri. The Metkayina people noticed you were the only human without an oxygen mask. They would soon find out from some kids playing around with water what was truly up with you. They fell in love more when you saved their daughter from the sky people.

It was all hands on deck, Jake called in a distress signal, something about his daughter. You didn’t really listen to what Norm said to you, once you heard Jake and his daughter you zoned out. You loved Jake’s kids and they loved you, well at least Kiri and Tuk did.

The girls got attached to you right away, Kiri loved your ethereal nature and Tuk, well Tuk liked your tail.

You are probably wondering what I mean, well you were born on Pandora and only a few years older than Spider. You found out one day while swimming at five years old with Max and a baby Spider. When you landed on the white sands, you grabbed a few things and ran towards where you saw Jake. The Metkayina noticed right away how you weren’t wearing a mask like the other demons, but paid no mind to it. You ran to help Kiri with Max and Norm following behind you.

You knew that the Metkayina people didn’t want you here, they didn’t want demons here. You were worried for Kiri, you didn’t even look at the people, you were scared. You set a machine down next to Kiri and looked over her, you looked at a sullen Neytiri. You went up to her and hugged her, you couldn’t imagine being in her position.

Shortly after, you were kicked out by Neytiri.

You were talking with Norm and Jake, and you saw the chief standing there, keeping watch. You couldn’t keep your eyes off him, his biceps and his hair, it was calling out to you. You dropped the machine in your hands and started to sprint towards the ocean, it wouldn’t take long before you turned. You felt like you were running in slow motion, the water never felt so far. You felt your heart racing, your mind was blank, tunnel vision set in, and you had to get to the water. You watched as the chief watched you race down the bouncy pathway, you knew the people were staring at you, wondering what was up. You got to the edge and dove into the water and not a moment too soon, you felt your legs disappear. Your head popped up to the surface, you saw Jake and a few other Metkayina people and the chief looking at you.

Immediately, people could tell you were different, if the gills on your neck didn’t already say it. You no longer had a shirt on and you were clearly treading water quite well.

“What is going on?” The chief said.

You drew a blank.

“She got water on her, she turns into a mermaid when she gets wet,” Jake explained to the chief.

You just smiled as you lifted your tail for all to see.

“That’s why she isn’t wearing the things like the other demons,” The chief said as he looked between you and Jake.

“I’ll be stuck like this for a while, so I’m just gonna swim around,” you said as you swam off flapping your tail.

“If you don’t mind, Norm is leaving and she has to stay in the water for a few hours. You won’t even see her. Is it okay if she stays?” Jake asked Tonowari for you.

“It is alright. I feel as though she will not be disturbing anyone. It is fine with me.”

“Perfect, thank you.”

Everyone had gone off to what they were doing before, you swam around the shore, you didn’t want to stray too far, you didn’t know these waters. Then the kids came splashing into the water, Jake’s kids were still with Kiri but Tsireya and Ao’nung wanted to see you.

“When did you find out you had your tail?” Tsireya asked as you sat perched on a rock.

You turned to look at her in the water, you were resting on a rock half in the water and half on land. Your tail was still mostly in the water and your hair was slightly drying, your long hair was also covering most of your naked top half as well.

Tsireya came closer and touched the scales on your fin.

“What are you up to sister?” Ao’nung said.

Tsireya’s giggles filled her brother’s ears, he saw Tsireya get splashed a few times by your tail fins. You and her were now in the water swimming around, you both looked over at Ao’nung who swam over to you both.

“She’s not just any demon. She’s special, Ao’nung.”

“Special how?”

You and Tsireya smiled at each other before you dipped your head under the water and swam over to Ao’nung. In no time you were in front of Ao’nung and spit water in his face, you smiled at him.

“I also have a tail,” you lifted your tail enough so Ao’nung could see your fins.

Ao’nung looked shocked, the smile you and Tsireya shared made you laugh more.
