ace attorney shouldn’t have been americanized in its localization because differences like japan’s 99%* conviction rate and an officer’s arrest basically being a be-all-end-all for the defendant vs. america’s “innocent until proven guilty” (how true that is may vary) shows that its setting and writing are uniquely rooted in a japanese legal system with all the societal and cultural implications of such and should have been localized with that in mind. the series is a critique of the japanese legal system and setting it in america only serves to muddy the unique insights into japan’s courts and culture.
