So, I have this head canon: Every year, John is invited to Mr and Mrs Holmes for Christmas, and it becomes a regular thing for both of them to go along. When Rosie is about 5/6 (and already calling Sherlock Uncle) she hears kids talking about their grandparents at school, and that Christmas she calls Mr and Mrs Holmes Grandma and Grandpa, and John gets all embarrassed and tries to apologise, but Mrs Holmes eyes light up and they respond immediately to Rosie calling them that and it becomes a running theme even when Rosie learns that they aren’t actually her grandparents. When John questions in private whether it’s actually okay, Mrs Holmes replies with “She’s as much our Granddaughter as you are Sherlock’s brother.” And Sherlock and John have been treating each other like family for years so he knows exactly what was meant by that. 

Just imagine the conversations as Rosie grows up: “Grandma, can you help me with my homework please?” “Granddad, why does Uncle Mycroft carry an umbrella all the time?” 

And when John needs some space, Rosie gets to go and stay with Grandma and Granddad, and she loves it because they always smother her with the best things. And when the hard conversation comes and John has to explain what happened to Rosie’s mother, the five of them (Sherlock included) are all sat around the table and talking about how her mother was a hero who saved Uncle Sherlock’s life.

I see a lot of people commenting on what happened in The Final Problem with a quote from John to Stamford: “Yeah I’m not the John Watson you knew.”

Let me just remind you of Sherlocks deduction after John shot Jeff Hope:

“He didn't fire until I was in immediate danger, though, so strong moral principle. You're looking for a man probably with a history of military service and...”

This was 100% in character for John because of his MORAL PRINCIPLE! He was told to shoot an unarmed man who was not his enemy and who was not causing John, Sherlock or Mycroft any immediate danger.

About Matthew

I know that this was possibly said a thousand times already, but I feel like we need to do something about this issue or at least try. I’m getting seriously worried about the comments that Matthew’s getting on social media and more worried I am that he’ll get mad because of it (and he totally has the right tbfh).

Shit’s getting quite ugly and I don’t like it. There’s tons of things that people in the fandom are doing that are not only dumb af but disrespectful too. Look, I know that Matthew is handsome and that some of you like him only because of that, but please stop attacking him EVERY time he posts a picture of the sky or an animal. Please.

Stop telling him to “shut up” or “to post selfies”. Matthew is not there to give you what you want, he’s a person and as much as you have the right to post videos of cats on your social media accounts or long posts about your life or whatever thing you do, he has the right to be a dork and post dumb messages and post animals, because that’s what he loves. He’s his own person and nobody but him should have a say on what he publish or not.

Everytime Matthew goes out of his way to apologize or to explain why he isn’t posting selfies or anything I feel terribly bad because yeah, he might say it in a joking manner or whatever but I’m pretty sure that deep down he’s getting more and more tired of our bullshit.

Please be nice. Show some respect. You guys will regret being assholes when Matthew finally loses his shit and does something about it. He’s a nice and dorky cinnamon roll and we honestly don’t deserve him, so if you’re going to be love him, love him for being who he is and not only because he’s handsome.

(PS. Not talking about other cast members because I haven’t seen anything remarkable on this matter. But if you do, please say something. Let’s not ruin the fun for anyone.)

Shadowhunters Episode 6: The Nourishment Rune vs The Heat Rune

#ok listen #maybe i’m reading too much into this and this hiatus is driving me completely insane BUT #i think i might be onto something here #i’m starting to see some symbolism in how they used those two runes in this episode #ok so both izzy’s and alec’s storylines in this ep revolve around the struggle to choose between their duty and following their hearts, right? #so i really think that (using maryse’s words) the heat rune symbolizes ‘what you want to do’ #and the nourishment rune is ‘what must be done’ #the lightwood siblings have always been taught to choose one over the other #so maybe that’s the lesson that max is trying to learn but failing because he’s too young to even see the difference between the two #then alec says that those two runes look nothing alike #meaning that what alec has to do and what he wants to do are two absolutely different things #hmmmmm? #and then we actually see the nourishment rune in the cookbook that robert gives izzy #but if nourishment is duty and responsibility then isn’t it the same as how robert’s the one who trusts that izzy can handle more responsibilities while maryse doesn’t? #izzy accepts the book and therefore accepts her duty #and then when she sends the fire message to meliorn using the heat rune we see her giving up on what she actually wants #meanwhile alec makes the opposite choice (at least for the time being) #ok i’m done here #tell me if i’m insane or just stating the obvious
