The neutral Chao that grew up into Sonic was a very quiet child, literally hiding himself in a shell. He is clingy to the Shadow Chao, but he acts more like a quiet outsider and it fits terribly well with the classic Sonic... please canon quiet outsider Sonic kid/hj

He is the only one without a tool so he just lies there contentedly, he does not sit with all the chao in one pile, but is on the other side of the tree. Even his interactions with the shadow chao are just a quiet repetition, while the rest of the Chao don't understand their behavior at all... It is he who eventually becomes Sonic, which is so important to me.

I like that Sonic is actually the kingSlayer and not the 1 king Arthur coz the first thing he did he destroyed the lake dragon.

I find it so meaningful that among all of them, Sonic is the only one who doesn't talk about his dream...he never names it...

He just asks when everyone else says "My dream" with an ellipsis and then answers what their dream is, but Sonic never says his after asking :p

Mahō Shōjo Sonic AU info

Note: The main focus is on Sonadow (Sonic/Shadow). This text is not yet complete and is only a preliminary draft to explain the details. It also contains a lot of cliche.

Nikki's family is having some financial troubles, so they have to move in with their Uncle Chuck at the start of the new school year.

Nikki is a rather clumsy teenager. They often get various injuries simply due to their own carelessness or by tripping over nothing.

Although assigned female at birth (yes, this is a wlw Sonadow AU), you can use any pronouns for them or interpret them in any way, as they are agender.

Before the first day of school, Uncle Chuck decides to show Nikki the contents of his closet. Seeing a prop sword, the blue hedgehog isn't very impressed. But that lasts right up until the moment the weapon starts talking.

Uncle Chuck, together with Excalibur, tells stories about King Arthur. Long ago, he was a great monarch who ruled with complete justice. Unfortunately, everything changed when Lancelot betrayed King Arthur and, together with creatures from another world, tried to kill him.

Arthur managed to defeat Lancelot, but the latter, dying, promised that he would be reborn again and again to finally let the creatures from the dark world into the human world.

Hearing this, Arthur poured all his power into a sword named Excalibur. From that moment on, Arthur's descendants, one after another, have protected the world from the reincarnations of Lancelot and the creatures of the underworld.

No matter how skeptical Nikki is about Uncle Chuck's words, he is already too old to perform the duties of Arthur's heir, so the sword passes into Nikki's hands.

So, Nikki has to lug a huge bag around school and everywhere else to carry their sword.

Nikki and Caliburn get along very poorly and constantly bicker with each other. When Nikki activates Excalibur's powers and transforms into his Sonic form, he essentially merges with the sword, so Excalibur doesn't talk during battle.

Sonic is everything that Nikki suppresses in themself. He is a confident and combative personality with a clear philosophy and fierce instincts.

Shadow. (Still any pronouns, he is genderfluid).

Terios was homeschooled due to the need to care for his younger sister. She died quite recently, and Terios doesn't know what to do with himself. He is in an terribly depressed state and wants to destroy literally the entire world without even leaving his room.

The worst part is that this is the first year Terios actually needs to go out, because he no longer has Maria as an excuse. Gerald also insists that he finally start attending classes in person.

Terios doesn't listen to him at first and just skips school.

At the moment when Terios was literally trying to end his own life, Doom Eye appears. He tells Shadow the same story, but from Lancelot's perspective—as a liberator who wanted to take revenge for the world's cruelty.

Terios, himself too consumed by grief over Maria's death, takes Doom's side and accepts his power. He doesn't really know the plan for his attacks or battles and simply follows Dūmuzu Ai's orders, seeing himself as merely a weapon.

He calls his form Shadow because he sees himself only as a shadow of Maria's and Black Doom's desires, having trouble seeing himself as a full-fledged person.

After he started fighting with Sonic, surprisingly, it helped him feel whole. Despite the fights, the blue hedgehog is terribly cute to him, and they have cute dialogues more and more often. To some extent, he sees something in Sonic reminiscent of his sister, even if it's very distant... all those mottos of the blue hero and his open support...

In the end, although he fights Sonic quite coldly, Terios himself is a huge fan of the blue hedgehog, and this crush only intensifies when they start releasing merch and other stuff featuring Sonic.

Honestly, this might also be part of the curse—to be a reincarnation of Lancelot. Obviously, Arthur and Lancelot were in love from the very beginning, or at least one of them certainly was—it's just a part of the story that no one knows except Arthur and Lancelot themselves... and perhaps Excalibur.

Thanks to the battles and Sonic's words, Terios gradually comes out of his depression and starts attending school. Unfortunately, Nikki and Terios are in different classes. They cross paths quite briefly and not enough to discover each other's secret identities. Of course, they will eventually meet, but I don't want to approach that part of the AU yet.

Amy, Cream

Amy is a continuation of the Gawain line. Her weapon is the huge Paladin hammer. She is Knuckles' older sister, and yes, they are siblings here. Precisely because Amy is the older sister, she inherits Gawain's weapon, although they are both strong enough for it. She uses Knight of the Heart as her alias, but Sonic knows her original identity. (Yes, this is the Forces Speed Battle skin).

As in the original manga, Nikki has a crush on Amy, but this version is much more emotionally rough than in the games and feels no affection for Sonic. She tries to protect him as a descendant of King Arthur, but feels nothing for Nikki or Sonic... and Amy actually has serious anger issues here.

Cream, aka Bedivere. Honestly, she's just a character that Amy and Nikki babysit in their daily life (mostly Nikki, because they love fussing with kids). The Chao are the source of her power.

That's all my brain has come up with for now. I'm thinking about Percival and Lady Margrane in the role of Rouge. And both of them are on Shadow's side to even the odds, I just don't know how to write them best yet. Tails is also in the AU, but he still lives with Nikki's parents and only gets letters where Nikki is hesitant to talk about the magical girl part. Eventually, Tails sneaks over to his sibling, finds out about it, and helps Sonic with attack planning.

The general goal of Shadow and the other antagonists is to obtain the Holy Grail and finally release the Black Arms. I think Shadow will eventually succeed, but after some crap from a Sonic monologue and flashbacks with the true history of Arthur and Lancelot, Shadow will end up sacrificing themself, just like in SA2. This is pretty messy because my head is a jumble.
