Ballora’s Romantic Orientation ;; 

As someone who was raised in an Anglican and Lutheran household, Aurora was naturally taught that marriage was between one man and one woman. She showed an interest in women, however, from an early age, forming crushes on dancers and movie princesses, but she buried her feelings because she knew they wouldn’t be welcome in her house. It wasn’t until she moved out to attend university that she began to experiment with her sexuality. (It was the ‘60s, after all!) 

This was also true regarding her romantic orientation. Aurora was a part of several open relationships in her college days, mainly female-oriented, before meeting William Afton. Due to her love for him, and the social expectations of the time, Aurora remained monogamous. She was afraid of embarrassing him or hindering his career, and she wasn’t sure how well her children would understand the way she viewed partnerships. Society wasn’t as progressive as she was. They would explain to her family that she was cheating instead of helping her family grow. 

However, as ‘Ballora’, they have learned to accept that they are indeed polyamorous. They’re an old soul with a large heart brimming with love. Why not share it with more than one person? They’re no longer married, after all, and they have an eternity to live with a body that will never age or tire. And as modernity is generally more accepting, Ballora is learning to be more open about their identity, as well. 

*Regarding how ships will work on this blog, they will still exist in separate verses unless the muns explicitly discuss otherwise. Ballora will still flirt with other muses when in a relationship, but they won’t be intimate or romantic with anyone else unless they communicate with their current partner!*

         something  wasn’t  right  and  it  was  obvious  now  that  the  growling  had  started.  it  didn’t  take  long  for  Montgomery  to  have  another  fit  it  seemed.. but  this  was  different.  …  he’s  raging,  everything  he  is  seeing  is  red  and  that  isn’t  good.  Monty’s  reaching  out  to  his  own  eyes  after  he  had  thrown  a  nearby  bench  in  Rockstar  Row. “ .  .  .  GET.  OUT..  OF  HERE. . !!  ”

        ballora’s first thought was that they weren’t paid enough to put up with this; their second thought was that they weren’t paid at all. adjusting to this new environment was bad enough. everything was so brightly lit here, and the vast labyrinthine halls of the pizzaplex were somehow worse than the claustrophobic confines of circus baby’s pizza world. what’s more, ballora didn’t know any of these new animatronics-- not really, as they’d only been briefly introduced-- and she was still getting the hang of her new upgrades, besides. 

so, when she came across monty having another... glitch, they were at a loss. should they call for parts and service? should they try to intervene? 

they glanced around helplessly before shuffling forward a step. “erm... montgomery, is it?” their soft british accent cut through the tense silence that followed. “i don’t know if you remember me. i’m ballora? from the fifth floor adult lounge? i... umm, was wondering if you needed any help. you seem-- you seem unwell.”

The panda slouches back, looking all too pleased with himself. 

✟ Ƒ Ƒ｡✟ -   ❝ It’s a pumpkin carving representation of how your head will look if I were to decapitate it and put it on a mantle. Very fetching, don’t you think? ❞ He rotates the pumpkin head to face the latter. He seemed more than conceited with his work. It helped that he had an inbuilt in his chest cavity. He worked it at the pumpkin skin with such precision. Funfred takes a lot of care in his craft and special interests after all. 

        rather than appear unnerved or disgusted by the other’s announcement, the dancer cradles a blue-grey chin in a spidery hand and leans downward to stare at the work appraisingly. 

“wow,” she eventually breathes, righting herself. “you even get my nose right! it’s PERFECT. more fetching than any funerary mask. you should start a business, you know? visitors to the pizzaplex in october would eat this up.”

        “it’s halloween, darlings! the most wonderful time of the year!” she twirls in place with arms outspread and throws her head back with a contagious laugh. “come one, come all. there’ll be a party in my lounge. there’ll be food and drink and ghosts!”

        she’s waddling up to her dressing room with at least eight bags on each arm, and assorted knick-knacks precariously balanced in between them. it seems that ballora snuck out of the pizzaplex to raid homegoods for early halloween decor.

“If we’re speaking purely in terms of romance, then that would, of course, be my husband, William Afton. We were married for, oh, 18 years before my untimely death? I was so young. So naïve.” She titters out a small laugh, brushing locks of indigo hair behind her shoulder. “But what can you do?” 

21. Does your muse fall for someone quickly, or does it take a bit to win their heart? 

“Dancers often have a reputation for falling hard and fast, but I’m the opposite. Certainly, I can form... infatuations, easily. But to know me? To have my love? That takes time and effort. I suppose that’s what made William so dangerous. He made me love him-- his brilliant mind, his gift for design and creation, his eagerness to take me along for the ride... After his betrayal, it has been even more difficult for me to be vulnerable around others.” 

24. Does your muse tend to get jealous when in a relationship? Do they like it when their partner gets jealous over them? 

“Hardly. Love is love is love. So long as healthy communication is practiced, I don’t mind sharing. I’m a rather free spirit myself. As for my opinions on potential partners’ jealousy... It can be cute, in small doses, but I never want to feel controlled. I’m a dancer who sometimes delves in the burlesque. I will get stared at and catcalled. It just comes with the job. Any partner of mine will need to understand that, and the fact that I never intend to stop dancing for anyone.”

She’s smiling. Has he given too much away? No. Aurora can read between the lines easily enough, of course she can, but that doesn’t mean she has access to the actual text. William should be more careful regardless. No one can know.

She of all people is…unlikely to use that knowledge against him. So why is he still terrified to admit to past vulnerability? It isn’t just about the danger, he realizes. It’s the shame.

Aurora’s proposal to perform the procedure by her own hand solves the Remnant issue, but not the more glaring one: Nobody is getting that close to him for that long. Even if William were conscious through the procedure, he would still be helpless. That isn’t going to happen.

But none of that matters because he doesn’t want to look so weak human again anyway. He still ought to explain himself.

“Right, of course. I just…I don’t believe I would let anyone do that to me. Regardless, I would prefer to work with what I have than undergo any drastic physical changes.” Any further drastic physical changes. The more time William has to get used to this body, the more he’ll be able to tolerate it. Perhaps he’ll even stop hating it eventually.

Failing that, a full set of casing would at least stop him from having to look at it all the time. “I would like that, yes.”

        aurora tilts her head and takes a moment to study him, and this time when she smiles, it isn’t one of secret acknowledgement. it’s of 𝕒𝕔𝕔𝕖𝕡𝕥𝕒𝕟𝕔𝕖. “i can’t say that i fully 𝓊𝓃𝒹𝑒𝓇𝓈𝓉𝒶𝓃𝒹 your reasoning. there is something you aren’t willing to say-- but that’s all right. i am still accepting, and i am willing to aid you in whatever way i can.” 

and if what assistance he is willing to accept only consists of blankets, company, and a new set of casing, then so be it. 

as she hums to herself, one can almost espy the metaphysical gears turning in her head. although a stalwart patron of the arts, she is also a creature with a scientist’s curiosity. she is already contemplating the materials, means of construction, and dimensions of... 𝓽𝓱𝓮𝓲𝓻 new project--

how oddly heart-warming it is to think about. not hers alone. not anymore. 𝓽𝓱𝓮𝓲𝓻𝓼. 

“i’ll see what i can do about your casing, but it may take a bit of time to gather the necessary materials. i want it to be durable and ergonomic. it wouldn’t do to have it irritate your--” she finds herself at a loss for what to call it. she twirls her wrist, gesticulating to the still air between them, and finally decides on-- “skin.” 

aurora pauses, glancing at william searchingly. “i can... leave to prepare alone, if you would like. leave you to your reading, as i said. or... i can keep you company until my next show in an hour. whichever makes you more comfortable.”
