(Two images with striped backgrounds in the colors of the transgender and genderqueer pride flags, both images have identical text that says "Happy Transgender Day of Visibility" with the date "March 31st" below).
Happy TDOV! 💜
In these times visibility is more powerful and more dangerous than ever. Today is a day for showing up in the ways that feel most empowering to us, and for being visible for those who can't yet be. Trans lives are precious. There has never been a world without trans people and there never will be. Every day we survive is a win.
As we all know, this year the date of Easter falls on TDOV, so I'm sending an extra shout out to the trans Ex-Christian community today. Take care of yourselves today. Whether you still take part in the secular traditions of Easter or today will simply be another Sunday, know that you are a whole, complete, and beautiful person.

The biggest reason the war on "Happy Holidays" is dumb as fuck is that even in a strictly Christian context, the holidays in question are Christmas and New Year's.
Even the most carefully sheltered religious ignoramous who's never heard of Diwali or Chanukah HAS heard of New Year's Day. You know—that thing that happens a week after Christmas? That's often a government-mandated statutory holiday? Where all the calendars change? So close to Christmas that many businesses, schools, and other institutions often take the days between them off too?
It's so absolutely clear that the grown adults peddling this crap are making something up to get angry about, because Christians have been wishing each other Happy Holidays for centuries. (Twelve whole days of Christmas, and extra events like Epiphany or Feast of the Innocents, too! These days we even get Second Christmas, for the Julian calendar folks!)
They're not angry about "erasing Christmas". Christmas is indelible. They're angry at having to acknowledge literally any other religion as having a right to exist, more or less. They want to live in a theocracy, while simultaneously saying that religious oppression would be terrible if it happened... to them.
I'm so goddamn sick of it. Of people who ask "Which holidays?" as if it's some sort of sick burn, not something that can slide from moderate inanity through to actively bigoted malice.
Keep Christ in Christmas?
Great idea. You start. Love your neighbour and shut the fuck up.

[image description: a page of drawings of orel from moral orel. in the biggest drawing, orel is standing politely and looking at the viewer happily. in another drawing, he is reading the bible excitedly with a thought bubble over his head that has a heart with a cross in it inside. in the last drawing, orel is sitting on his knees and playing with some action figures. next to that drawing is a blurb that says "the specialest boy in the world" with a smiling emoticon below it. the entire page is surrounded by doodles of stars. end id]

Normal things to type with your hands huh
Anyway I'm hit so hard these days by how contemporary fascism shares like 90% DNA with Conservative Evangelicalism.
And that's really what frustrates and frightens me about contemporary Christianity, because there are people in it whose political beliefs uncertainly approach "liberal," who want to grapple with racism and sexism in the Church, but a lot of the writers and thinkers that were foundational to their worldview are now viewed by them as good-naturedly misguided, when their ideas were Very Much Fascism. Being a philosopher or theologian with a mild mannered affect doesn't make them not a fascist. Being well-intentioned in a twisted way doesn't make them not a fascist. Failing to realize that what they were supporting and proposing is fascism doesn't make them not a fascist.
There is just not a sufficient recognition of the horrible seriousness of the "culture war" and how the topics that were battlegrounds in the "culture war" were selected for monstrous political purposes.
There is a continued effort to "save" or "salvage" things like being pro-life and supporting abstinence until marriage, and this, to me, reflects a continued failure to seize the fascist abomination Evangelicalism has become and truly tear it up by the roots. Can you be personally uncomfortable with abortion or personally in favor of sex within a committed relationship? Of course. But these things would not be political issues without the influence of fascism in culture and politics. They would not occupy your head like this. They would not be the main subjects of your moral universe without the consuming sense of anxiety that your society is increasingly descending into moral degeneracy, partly to the increased visibility and dominance of groups that are culturally "other," posing an existential threat to the integrity and stability of your culture—which is an INTEGRAL CHARACTERISTIC OF FASCISM
It's at the point where exchanging ideas with conservative Christians, as a more progressive Christian, drags you down more than it could ever lift them up. It's like you're trying to carry a backpack attached to a chain and the other end of the chain is attached to a rabid wolf.
It doesn't matter how important the stuff in the backpack is to you. You cannot go back for it. And if your buddy insists on going no further unless the backpack can come with you, you'll have to make a decision, because that wolf's eyes are lit up with sightless sickly fire and his jaws are foaming and snapping.

stop recommending alternative medicine to chronically ill people I am going to fight someone. No I don't need more ozone no my spine isn't misaligned no colloidal silver will not fix me or anyone else I have a real condition that can't be treated with bullshit and recommending me bullshit is insulting and dangerous. Saying that chronically ill people would be fixed if we "just" did something is reductive of the complexity of chronic illness, it's ableism.
btw faith healing absolutely counts as alternative medicine and, despite being christian myself, if you come up to me and try to pray for me without my permission I'm running over your toes.

Why I cuss (affectionately) at my deities, sometimes, and why it's important to me
I'm having some feelings tonight, so here have another "Frog is rambling again" post. This one's about Loki, because they seem intent on speedrunning teaching me shit. Seriously it's been like three weeks.
I wasn't prepared for what working with Loki actually looks like. /pos
Because what that actually looks like, apparently, is sitting watching a comedy anime and getting the distinct vibe that it has a sense of humor that Loki enjoys. And then realizing that's because Loki is actively hanging around... watching fuckin' anime with me. Why the hell would Loki want to watch a dumb comedy anime with the funny little guy he works with?
Seeing a post about watching comedy as a devotional act to Loki later felt intentional, so I ended up deciding to do just that.
Thing is, I grew up exposed to the idea that God is an all-powerful being who deserves nothing less than the best and humans are the scum of the earth. I'm only now seeing that it's been damaging my relationship with my deities. I'm afraid to just chat with them 'too casually.' I apologize if I feel like I said something that's too disrespectful. I've apologized to Loki multiple times because he pulled some shit and my response was "god damnit Loki" or "you motherfucker."
And then they remind me that I call my mom the same thing, and she laughs. It's the same with my friends. All because it's not insulting, or disrespectful, it's a sign of affection. I would never say that and mean it; they know that, so it's funny. It's playful.
Amongst many other things, Loki is teaching me that joy is to be valued. This world tells us that it's dumb, childish, or any other assortment of negative descriptors- and that it has no place in spirituality. Certainly no place in the presence of a god- and that's fucking sad. I think Loki is sad about it too. I think Loki's fucking pissed, actually. How dare we be made to feel shame for what makes us happy. The gods deserve to partake in our joy and our fun just as much as they deserve to be part of our sorrow and fear.
Maybe it's just me, but I'm starting to think that hanging out with some fucker who's scrolling through memes and blasting music might just be a nice change of pace for them.

(on the bed with my partner, in various states of undress)
me: so in catholic dogma original sin comes from the fact that we were conceived through sex, which is why they believe the virgin mary was also born from immaculate conception
my partner: oh cool. once murderbot sneaked onto a ship and then learned that the ship is sentient and also a lot smarter than it

if JUDAS wasn’t FORGIVEN for his BETRAYAL when JESUS died for all humanity’s SINS then WHAT is even the POINT of Christianity.
Textbook case of someone who committed a SIN and felt SO REGRETFUL he KILLED himself about it, but the way Christian’s talk about him you’d think the WHOLE POINT wasn’t forgiveness at all !!

most people just call her fran
[image description: a reference image for an original character named francis. francis is a yellow anthro axolotl with short blunt bangs, tired purple eyes, and a long dark purple dress that has a white collar with a golden crucifix pendant on it. next to her is text stating that she is around 200 years old, that her pronouns are she/he, and that she is a genderfluid lesbian. there is also a blurb that says the following: "studying under gabby to become an angel. incredibly shy and reserved, it nigh on impossible to get a word out of him when gabby isn't around. secretly loves writing sapphic romance in her spare time." beneath the text is a small drawing of him blushing with an embarrassed look on his face. end id]
