finding a song that fits a scene or character really well

writing a description or piece of dialogue that just. fits.

hitting your next big milestone

the feeling of writing the first words on a document for a new draft

finishing a draft and writing “THE END” at the bottom of the page

editing and realizing how far you’ve come as a writer

Welcome to the first ever Ballum Week!

Ballum week is a time dedicated to celebrating Ben x Callum with a variety of fanworks. It will run over the course of the seven days from the beginning 01/06/20.

With each day of the week comes a new theme, the themes vary for the writers and artists (except for day 3 -so if you want to collaborate use this day!) All you need to do is write a story or create a piece of art based on the theme given for the day! The prompts are all open to interpretation, but please stick to the basic theme! (You don’t have to do all 7 days, just as many as you wish).

Please post your gift on your own blog, on the corresponding day for each theme, with the tags #bw2020 & #ballumweek2020 (in the first five tags). We will then reblog all works of fanart made on this blog!

Happy Ballum Fandom Appreciation Day!

First of all I wanted to apologize for not being on here much today of all days. I feel like I should have gotten involved a lot more but with uni starting again this week Ive been a little overwhelmed with all the work.

So I just want to give a general shoutout to every single content creator in this fandom. Whether you write fic, create art or share your thoughts, whether I follow you or not - you all make this place what it is and were so lucky for every single one of you to be part of our fandom!

Another shoutout to everyone who has ever left comments, kudos or likes, everyone who has reblogged any of those works. Because without you this content wouldnt exist either. You keep content creators motivated to keep creating, you bring smiles to their faces as much as they did to you with their works. You are just as much appreciated and important to this fandom and we are just as lucky to have you!

A special shoutout to everyone who has ever spread kindness and love, who has listened when someone felt down, to the people standing up for each other. Thank you for making our fandom the amazing community that it is!

And lastely one massive shoutout to all the lovely people I met through this fandom - I hope you know who you are and how much I appreciate all of you!

many fic writers are working extra hard to provide a constant stream of content for their fandom(s) at the moment. but with ao3 now not counting hits from non-logged/non-account holder readers during the pandemic, it means a lot of authors will see a sudden, and most-likely steep drop in hits. it’s very likely this will leave writers feeling very downbeat/discouraged/upset.

so please let this encourage you to leave more kudos and comments on fics!!!!!! i know leaving comments can be daunting for some people, and maybe it’s something you’ve never done before, but trust me when i say you will make someone’s day with just a few words! so....

go back to the last fic you read, that one that made you cry, and tell the writer so

just reread your favourite fic? cool, now tell the author you’re back again, why you’re back again. it will make their day

that fic that made your heart burst with love? pick out some favourite lines, tell the author what it was that gave you that feeling, maybe you’ll make their heart burst too

missing a particular writers fics? it may be that they’re feeling insecure about their writing currently, hense not posting much. one single comment could be the confidence boost they need to post again

that wip fic you’re desperately waiting for a update on? god back and comment on the last chapter, hell comment in every chapter, tell them that you’re looking forward to an update. give the writer the boost they need to write the next chapter of your favourite fic

give a writer a compliment on an old fic, let them know you’ve loved their writing then and you love their writing now

a kudos/comment can go such a long way for a writer. you never know, your comment, however long or short, may well be the reason someone updates/posts their next fic!!!!! show the writers in your fandom(s) how grateful you are for their talent and dedication in this time.

Hello! I'm new to the fandom as well, but I hope my prompt is good enough to get written: Ben and Callum are newly married, and throughout the first week of getting back to their normal lives, they both realize how different everything is now that they both have someone to call a husband. With a lot of moments where they do a double take every time they look at their rings, like it still hasn't fully sunken in they're actually married.

In later April 2020, Ben finally got the go ahead to have operation for his cochlear implants. 4 months later, on a surprisingly warm August evening, Ben and Callum go to a gay bar, but they’re stopped by two police officers because they fit the description for two other men. Callum accidentally lashes out at one of the police officers. Ben starts mouthing off and they both get arrested. Callum has a panic attack in the back of the police van. Ben has to calm Callum down by making him copy his breathing. Callum wets himself. At the same time, Ben isn’t sure why this is happening to Callum.

At the police station, Ben tries to explain to the police office that Callum was in an accident at a warehouse in February. The office asks if Callum suffers with claustrophobia, but when Ben goes on to say that Callum was in the army, the officer makes a suggested that Callum could be suffering from PTSD. The officer explains that he’s going to charge Callum for hitting the other officer. Ben’s ears start to ring and his head starts to pounded. He rips out his hearing aids. Unbeknown to Ben, DI Jack Branning has seen Ben and Callum’s names before leaving for the night and goes and gets Kathy and Stuart. Kathy arrives at the police station as Ben is being let go.

Meanwhile, Callum is still in his cell. Kathy goes to touch ben. But, Ben isn’t himself and he collapses and goes limp in Kathy’s arms. While they wait for an ambulance, Jack manages to get Callum out of his cell and Stuart tells Callum about Ben. They get to the hospital and Kathy explains that Ben had a seizure in the ambulance and that he’s gone for some scans. Callum sits himself down on a chair and tries to control his breathing but it’s no good. Stuart helps him Callum calm again and then asks why he got arrested. Callum confesses, he’s not actually 100%, he’s been pretending he’s fine when he’s not really because Ben has needed him. He’s been having nightmares about the warehouse and his old army injury has been causing his issues.

Ben takes his hearing aids out at night, so he can’t hear Callum having his nightmares.
