Season 2 is my favorite season, period. I’m so glad they’re going back to the good seasons and adding that in season 5.

Also season 2 is THE byler season. Hand holding, hugs, hospital scenes, crazy together, yelling for Mike, actually being good together and not fighting?AND MORE?!?! Yeah… no other season is as byler as that.

Days without byler tumblr debating on gay vs bi Mike:

Constantly thinking about the:

“You never say it” + “I say it”

vs

“I didn’t say it” + “You didn’t have to”

It just gives me the vibe of how Mike wants to show love but it’s hard to say ily.

El: “I say it” meaning he does try to show his love, he just isn’t able to say it. She (without trying to) forces him to say it to her later— meaning it wasn’t really genuine since she asked him to. Maybe why she’s mad in the finale?

Will: “You didn’t have to” meaning that he doesn’t expect Will to say anything at all. Whether it’s about Mike being a jerk or not— he has such a bond with Will enough to know what he’s thinking without saying it.

ALSO, something that should be talked about more:

Mike noticed Will acting moody all day while barely looking at him.

vs

Mike not noticing El’s obvious lies and weird behavior while looking directly at her.

Yes, yes I know. Almost everyone has seen this comparison now but I wanted to expand on it a bit more.

Both Vickie and Mike are the first to notice Robin and Will. Both of them look happy at first (I didn’t take a good picture of Vickie, but I promise she is 💀)

Then both Vickie’s boyfriend and El notice next. Vickie and Mike look more apprehensive or scared.

But why? I’ll tell you: FRUITINESS.

They both fear that they (Robin + Will) will get wrong idea and possibly get upset. To which Robin does, but Will doesn’t bc he’s excited to see El.

We know that Vickie is into Robin— so then why else would Mike have the same look on his face? [Rhetorical]

ALSO I WOULD LIKE TO POINT THIS OUT:

When El is talking about if Mike is a good kisser or not, she replies by saying “well he’s my FIRST boyfriend”. Max corrects her by saying “EX-boyfriend”.

It reminds me of this scene with Vickie and Robin:

Where Vickie says something along the lines of “my boyfriend —well— WAS my boyfriend”.

LIKE— these scenes signify that Robin still has a chance with Vickie and that El has independence from Mike.

BONUS PARALLEL:

The fact that Steve was watching every time Vickie and Robin interacted and even told Robin to go for it.

JUST like how Jonathan was watching every time Will and Mike interacted and had the talk with Will as well.

(Side-note: just now realized that Vickie and Mike on the left are wearing blue while Robin and Will on the right are wearing brown.)

Also, regarding the scripts. People have been thinking of it as the final motion and that they strictly follow it.

When really, it’s more of an outline.

Sometimes scenes or lines or emotions are changed DURING a scene. Y’all saw how many improvised movements and lines there were, right? They weren’t written in the script or rewritten to add to the script.

Sometimes directors will regroup during a scene and be like “hey, maybe try doing or saying THIS” and it could change the whole tone of the scene. What’s written in the script isn’t always clean cut and final.

No but in all seriousness, the achillean flag is so underrated and even the sapphic flag (the wlw counterpart) is more prevalent. It actually makes me sad that it isn’t used more. And tbh, this fits Mike pretty well—
