This cute, polite, sweet, respectful man with a southern accent (not typical in the PNW) approached me at my job and asked if I was single after talking to me a little and I turned him down because I still don’t feel ready to move on from my ex. And he respectfully let it go and said, “Until our paths cross again.” If I run into him again I think I have to give him my number because even though I keep praying to God for my person, I get so freaked out by the thought of dating anyone but my ex. If this man follows Christ and would come to church with me, I think I would have to give him a chance. Unless God is actually just showing me that my ex is the one I love and I should just wait. I don’t know. I just really don’t know.

Where do I find a group of friends for whom I can bake fancy cakes and enjoy them after a family style meal. Like, let me make you a seafood risotto with some white wine and a lemon Chantilly cake for dessert

There is a part in the Bible where Ahab seeks guidance from 400 prophets about whether he should go to war with Ramath-Gilead. The prophets say he should, all except one, Micaiah. He doesn't like what Michaiah has to say-- that if he goes to war he will fail, and so he proceeds anyway, preferring the prophesies of the majority. What I take from this, is that we should be discerning in who we listen to. Just because many people may tell us what we want to hear, we need to listen to the person who speaks the truth. Even when it sucks. If it makes sense, if it's realistic, and (if you love God) if it aligns with scripture. It might feel good for someone to tell you what you want to hear, but it's important to listen to what's true.

Ok, if you have any fear around doing something difficult or unpleasant but NEEDS to be done and you don't know where to start, just look at it. It might not be as bad as you thought, and you could be totally fine. Half the stress I feel at any given time is due to not knowing what something is going to entail. And sometimes when I do find out, it sucks. It's hard, it's dumb, it's expensive. But necessary. I like to have a plan.

I want to get better at painting and drawing so that when I go places I can sit and do a little painting or sketch. I think it’s even better than photos because you get not just the image, but your impressions. I also like to write little memories of things. I love those kinds of things. Like maybe one day someone will go through my old photo albums and see details I’ve written about what was happening that day. I want people to know why it mattered.
