About a month ago I submitted a design to a statewide design competition judged by none other than Shepard Fairey of @obeygiant. He selected my entry for first prize of the competition. This is a tremendous honor as Shepard Fairey is a huge stylistic inspiration of mine and a tremendous example of the power of art. I am a senior studying graphic design in Providence RI. I am hoping to gain admission to the RISD graduate school in graphic design. Hopefully the results of this competition will aid me in my entry process as Shepard Fairey is one of their most famous graduates. It is an amazing feeling to have been chosen by someone I look up to so much. I plan on writing him a letter of appreciation for his decision.
