Hi! I was hoping you would be willing to share some resources/advice for someone just starting their paganism/witchcraft journey. Much thanks

This isn't going to sound as helpful as you'd like at first. But firstly you need to figure out what your journey is, like what kinds of things speak to you. You're more likely to feel passionate about it then, and I think there's a reason something might call to you.

Like I recently I discovered that I was interested in Ogham, and learning to do divination with them. And that there was a whole branch of magic based on using coffee. These feel really right for me to explore.

I recommend trying out books from your library, or 2nd hand to get a feel for what you are into, and which authors your vibe with. I hope you can find your path.

I agree, and for me when I hear people use the term "white magic" I think of the "New Age" stuff that has a lot of racism, ablism, stolen practises in there, and more. Which morally is fucked up.

People also have positive and negative connotations with the words black, and white magic. Like assuming if its labelled black magic that it's "bad or evil" etc. when often they are just things like Voodoo, Hoodoo, and Rootwork. When they are not evil on their own, they're just cultural to PoC. Which sounds really racist to assume it's bad or evil. When really it is a tool.

And white magic being "morally good" when actually it can be some messed up stuff in there that causes real harm. Stuff that New Age people that like, and think is "not evil" they will just steal, even if it's closed practice.

Visiting Washington for the weekend and saw a wonderful amount of mushrooms!!!!!!

Maybe read about different types of craft to see what inspires you. If something pops out as something you might be interested in, or enjoy. Go for it. Finding the motivation is the harder bit, so don't try to push too hard at something that isn't doing it for you right now.

what are some good tips to get back into your spiritual/witchy self? ive been in such a slump and i need to get out of it

It might feel a little different for you, and that's okay. And for sensing energy from plants, I'd practice on a bigger plant like a tree, because it feels stronger, so might be a bit easier to sense.

So when I touch something with energy and focus on it. I get a "warm" but not really, and faint tingling feeling that starts on my hands and moves upwards depending on how strong it is. Most of the time it feels nice, happy, and calming. But can change depending what's going on.

Also I'd try with things like crystals too, just in case your gifts are else where.

And I'd also focus on a question, trying to push that thought out "louder" see how that works. Like a basic "how are you?" is okay. Just in case the way you receive the energy is different. I also find asking questions gives a stronger pluse as I'm getting a response.

But keep practicing and trying different things, getting different perspectives is not so bad, because we can easily work differently.

Ok tumblr witches help me out, cuz what does energy feel like??? Like what am I supposed to be feeling when detecting energy?

I’m trying to sense and feel energy but I can’t seem to actually identify energy. I can feel my own skin being cold when I try to ground or Center but nothing more than that. I’ve tried sensing the energy of plants but I’m not too great at that Iether. Help a baby witch out please 😭
