I never delved deep into Prince’s music but I’ve always been fond of his style/and when doves cry is just such a good record. RIP Prince

Great use of data. I like the interactivity present in the article, as I was curious how NYC was divided by voting for Hilary/ or Bernie

Great Op-Ed piece on the bill that was passed in 1994 to curve the crime rate, unfortunately it also had a negative impact on black lives. Elizabeth Hinton spoke about the demand that was needed in the early 90s to put a hold on crime but the need for employment, and better education did not come into fruition. Bill Clinton got into a verbal sparring match with Black Lives Matter protesters a week prior.

Panamá Papers have been a hot topic lately. Vladimir Putin’s name came up in the controversy but unlike the Iceland Prime Minister Sigmunder David who stepped down. The article explains how Putin and Russia will probably walk away from the controversy; worry free.

Helping Hands #Flash Draft

Randolph Jr., 34 (left) and Carl Mullen, 37 (right), standing in front of the bread they give away to the poor, and those in need in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
On a cold spring morning in April, Randolph Jr and Carl Mullen begin to unload their van with fresh bread, and produce. A long line stretches around the Knickerbocker Ave train station; and Helping Hands Ministries start their day with coffee and generosity.
“Helping others on a daily basis, not just Thanksgiving and Christmas. We want to come here and change peoples lives and Bushwick has always been receptive.” Randolph Jr explains. Despite the frigid temperature, the ambience was joyful. “I don’t speak Spanish but they understand the language of love”. An older Hispanic man approaches Randolph Jr and hands him a crisp dollar bill, the man tells Randolph Jr to treat himself to a coffee and he humbly declines the dollar.

Bushwick has seen a dramatic shift in business, and renovations as young professionals move into the neighborhood. It’s being deemed the “New” Williamsburg. Helping Hands Ministries have been working with the poor, and homeless according to Randolph Jr for 25 years.
“Growing up in Bushwick, I know it for being genuine and a certain kind of crowd, shopping and culture. Gentrification is bringing in another league of people, thats taking away from it” Randolph Jr said.
“It’s a rich culture that’s why they want a piece of it but they want to change the face, and the name of it.” Randolph Jr said. The cold temperature continued to affect the city, and Randolph Jr and Carl Mullen assure me that they will be back next week.
