Back at it again, but not with what you might've expected!

Taking a break from my usual fandoms, let me present to you...

"Tales to Tell at Night" A series available in my AO3 featuring oneshots of my DnD Characters.

Ranging from Mystery, to suspense and comedy, you'll find a freash of breath air from our usual programming.

And, for you entretainment and enjoymen, the first story is up and ready for you!

"A la Conan Doyle" Starring my elf wizard, Seren, and featuring my Tiefling Bard, Yen!

Seren, The Exhiled Pristess, is known throughout the land as a skilled detective, so, when called to a buzzing region to solve a case, she thinks nothing of it.

Her leads take her to a Tiefling Cabaret, where their Invited Performer: Yen, the Tiefling Diva, hold the answers to decyphering the case.

But, as fate would have it, the asmodean tiefling won't be an easy subject to the elf's interrogation, and thus, certain...compromises have to be met.

So...Am I late for this?

Cause I had to get these out of my chest, there are some more left but I would love to hear you opinion on these.

Tried to keep them as recognizable as posible but giving them a nudge into a more...coherent direction. Basically I took them and fixed some issues I had with the original designs.

Who Strickler will have to deal with!

Lady Micté as Teca Institute's Principal and Catrina, otherwise known as La Muerte, as the Principal of San Angel High School!

Unaware the principal of Arcadia Oaks High School is a Changeling stuck in his troll form, both arrive there disguised as humans but not like other times, when they hid all traces of their original appearance. This time, they picked looks according to themselves, their relationship as sisters and as principals.

Obviously, Strickler will have the best day of his life. He is in front of two important figures of Mexican history: The glorious Catrina from Jose Posada, the immaculate satyric image of the spanish folk on Mexico. And Micte, Goddess of Death and Queen of the Underworld. He'll fanboy for hours once he's back at home with Barbara, that's for sure.

The sisters travel to Arcadia to dropoff and pick up students everytime the exchange takes place. They're there mostly to settle things and see eye to eye.

Both still retain their divine powers, so when they finally meet Strickler, after some confusion, both change to their original forms.

For Everyone reading my Cyberpunk AU and asking "Who's this Neala character?" well, here's your answer:

Neala, Gunmar's Hellhound, is my Tales of Arcadia Fan Character. Firstly created in 2018 as I watched Part 3 of Trollhunters and later developed further as Wizards was released.

Her first design was inspired by Draal and Nomura.

I didn't intent to make a FanChild by that combination, I purely liked Nomura's agile sillouhette and Draal's Spiky body. Of course, in the end, I put my own spin on it and so, Neala was created.

From the start, I knew I wanted them to be a warrior, obviously this fact would make her an outcast, or at least, not a part of Heartstone Trollmarket. For a moment, there was the idea of making them a Changeling, but the idea was scraped once I had a narrative of her role on "Eternal Night"

It started out as a "New Challenger enters the fight" situation, where she would arrive umpropted and ready to face Gunmar and the Gumm-Gumms, but the "Mary Sue" approach was changed for something much more altruistic.

Redemption.

Here, the exhiled Gumm-Gumm train got going.

She was "Gunmar's Champion", a loyal fighter adopted and raised by the Skull Crusher as a bloodhound, but once Morgana came into the picture, giving Gunmar the power to make anyone into a mindless slave, Neala fled.

Inspired by Argh! She abandoned Gunmar as well, but instead of refusing to fight, she just fought for centuries in the shadows, helping Troll-kind in places where the Trollhunter wasn't an option, akin to Angor Rot before becoming Morgana's Champion.

Once she knew of the Human Trollhunter, she moved to Arcadia Oaks. Her mission remained the same though, protecting her kin, while also being a hidden support for the newest Trollhunter.

As much as this concept seemed good, it felt a bit...Mary Sue-esque. But at the time, I had no chance or idea on how to fix it, nor the vision to see what could be better. So, I let her rest, while still using her as a guiding force on "Dashed Hopes" my Cyberpunk AU. Where she serves as Krel's messenger and spy.

After a while, some ideas started to pop-up in regards to them. How I wanted them to be, their motives, everything. And so, I had a new backstory for them.

Once Morgana comes, Neala doesn't fully trust her. She's a human after all, she might be tricking their king into a trap. A suspiscion half way confirmed by the Slaving Ability bestowed into his sword. They challenged the witch, demanding her the truth before Gunmar cut it off and sent Neala to rescue Argamon.

She was a Gumm-Gumm commander, pretty much as before, she was raised into a bloodhound by Gunmar.

Previously, her personality was pretty neutral. Having some level of consciousness regarding the world outside her home. My reimagining of their personality was making them rough, strongheaded and arrogant. A soldier who knows their value, their skills and their goals, which, of course, align to the ones of their king, who they see as a role model before everything falls.

On their way there, they thought of the implication of their king becoming a puppet to a witch. Then and there, they became a ghost, dissappearing into the night, no longer a Gumm-Gumm, but not a Pacifist either. A Renegade who would dismantle human kingdoms and tribes to return what was robbed from their kind.

For centuries, they did it. Becoming a guardian for troll kind when Angor Rot became another puppet for the Eldritch Queen. But as Humans became more abundant and poweful, Neala wasn't enough to fight against them. And so, they did the minimum to keep trolls out of human sight to avoid a purge, like Arthur did in their times.

As they knew about Jim, the new Trollhunter, they were ready to hunt him down until they saw him defeat Bular. There, they saw both were on the same team, and so, Neala became a hidden ally.

In regards to their design, I cut their hair down, as well as most of the spikes, since it made their design a bit noisy. Kept their clothes short and mostly form fitting so their sillouhette was agile no matter the version.

This version of their arc would keep their base personality while shifting their goals, their main one being the protection of Trollkind.

Even if it begins in a place of blind faith upon Gunmar and his methods, as Morgana disrupts and reveals the cracks, their beliefs remain but their faith is dropped. That same resolve keeps them moving foward as they become Angor's partner, as well as the outcast's guardian. When he looks for power by making the Deal with the Eldritch Queen, Neala remains as a vigilante, even capturing Angor when sent to hunt a Trollhunter down, trapping him in the mausoleum. As hurt and broken as they may be, the safety of their kind was first.

Like that, all their story revolves around that core belief and how it shifts around by different circunstances, still, their allingment would be Chaotic Neutral. Their arrogance and pride, as well as their lack of candor getting the better of them.

Satisfied with this rework, I rewrote and continued their story!

For those curious, my voice claim for them is Tilda Swinton.

For the Lunaverse AU.

As I said in the previous post of this AU. Teca would take Mexico City's Place in this AU's version of Earth. Given the city's structure in the show. (More details on that on my other Blog)

Long story short, how to adapt what happened in Maya And The Three into a modern setting? Well, politics.

LISTEN UP! Sounds weird but let me explain!

Basically, Mictlan is a God in human desguise, looking to reign over humanity by becoming president of the country and start a War. As part of his campaign, he uses Zatz as an Embassador of his values and goals, in the mean time, Camazotz is his hitman, who is slowly killing Mictlan's competition. All to keep his son out of the God of War's bad side, since he knows, as a demigod, Zatz could give Mictlan power, though not as much as Maya, the "daughter" of the last standing competitor for Mexico's Presidency.

Note: Yes, in this world, if you are mexican, you can Vote for Jorge for President. You're welcome.

Jorge, Maya's father, has hidden her divine heritage thinking it wasn't a fact she needed to know of. Of course, when she starts to notice little glimpses of her powers, things get out of hand and the truth is revealed. Luckily, Zatz, the local "bad boy" and top student is there to assist her in discovering her godly abilities.

Pichu, Chimi and Rico are Maya's best friends from school, so when Zatz reveals the whole situation to the group, they team up to stop Mictlan.

Her brothers are ALIVE AND WELL! HANGING OUT LIKE THE HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS, PLAYING SOCCER AND BEING THE BEST BOYS! NO HARM COMES TO THEM!

Micte is the School's principal, obviously a Goddess in Human Desguise who took the role to be closer to Maya. Mictlan thinks is for the sake of spying on her for his benefit, since she's the seed of his glory or his destruction.

Obviously, they don't die fighting Mictlan, but still get their roles as the Moon and Sun. Once they fall, in battle or by time, they'll take their place, protecting for ever more the world from darkness as celestials.

I...might have rewritten the story, but given I changed the time period, I thought it was neccessary.

San Angel High School Exchange Group!

For the Lunaverse AU

I'm still figuring out how can I adapt the stories to a modern setting, since Maya and the Three and The Book of Life happen on two (mexican inspired) different ages: The Prehispanic Era (or something similar since we see dead Conquistador's on Mictlan's army) and the Post-Revolutionary Era (1920 - 1930). So here are some of my ideas:

San Angel would be in Puebla, which is a state close to the capital of Mexico. Even though the original San Angel is structured to be close to what Mexico City looked like once, Teca is a much more faithful portrait of such thing.

Given this info, they'll be atending San Angel High School as seniors. The three of them are 18 years old, so this year at Arcadia will be their last year before going to college.

Their story together doesn't change much. They're childhood friends, Maria then is sent to study aboard and they reunite at High School, where fantastical shenaenigans ensue, as well as some teenage romance drama.

By "Fantastical Shenaenigans" I mean: Chacal and the Bandits are a gang feared in San Angel because it is said they have (or had) a deal with the Divine Death (Santa Muerte) dus, giving them habilities and strength beyond any other gang. The School becomes the battleground for the final fight, instead of the church, and because of San Angel's victory, Xibalba and La Muerte allowed the spirits of everyone's loved ones to walk around town in the Day of the Dead. Obviously, this whole ordeal got documented on the news, reaching Uhl and, eventually, Strickler.

The truth about Chacal's gang is pretty much like the movie portrays it: Chacal once had a deal with Xibalba, who gave him the Medal of Everlasting Life. Chacal abused this power until he faced Captain Mondragon of the San Angel Revolutionary Front (Mexico's police rarely fights against Gangs) when he lost the Medal but took down most of the Front, only leaving some cowards and General Posada, the leader of the Front, alive. Of couse, the power of Chacal's army was too much to deny, so it instilled fear in the town, that's why nobody offered themselves to the Front.

Joaquin was taken under the wing of the Nuns of San Angel until General Posada adopts him. (Mind you, the nuns here in Mexico are known not only for their Eggnog, but depending on the region, they make cookies and other sweet treats, so I'm a 100% sure Joaquin knows how to cook and he's a traditional pastry chef in his free time. FIGHT ME! JIM AND HIM WOULD BE COOKING WHILE THE BOYS REHEARSE AND THE GIRLS SPARR!)

La Muerte and Xibalba are the principal and vice-principal of San Angel High School, and due to the magical situation the kids have experienced, they made a deal with Strickler at Arcadia Oaks for them both, as well as Teca Institute, to have a year long exchange each year. The purpose of this exchange is so the teens have more people to relate to when they speak of supernatural phemomenons, and given these three schools went through the ringer, sealing the deal was fairly easy.

Spiritual Successor of this piece: Jim finally gets his Troll Markings!

I firmly believe Jim was capable of deactivating the armour once he grew comfortable with his Troll form. The boy was two years with it before the shard afterall.

Also took it as an excuse to draw him with his back facing the camera, it isn't often when I make stuff like this, so the practice is due.

I KNOW WHAT I SAID ABOUT ZATZ BEING THE DRUMMER, BUT THE REMAKE OF "WE DIDN'T START THE FIRE" BY FALL OUT BOY HAS BEEN STUCK IN MY HEAD THE WHOLE WEEK!

So who would better to sing it than Zatz? He's got the vibe and certainly the motive.

I think, depending on the genre, the group may roll vocalists.

What do you think?

When it's something more melodic, like a balad, Manolo would sing. Something heavier, like rock? Zatz would take the spotlight. Electronic or Dubstep? It would be a job for Krel.
