The Sharingan Son (2/?)
Ch. 2: Hiro Sarutobi is NOT my Rival!
NYR
Ch. 2: Hiro Sarutobi is NOT my Rival!
Kosuke Uchiha walked along the path leading through the front gates of Konoha’s ninja academy. The little girls in his class stood around in clusters outside the school, whispering and sneaking peeks at him when they thought he wasn’t looking. With his hands in his pockets and his bangs falling across those sensitive green eyes... gosh, Kosuke-kun was so cool!
Tch. Kosuke couldn’t care less about those annoying girls. He was too busy training to become an awesome shinobi and waiting for his Sharingan to awaken to think about girls...
Unless that girl was Ichika Shimura. She was on a completely different level than the other girls at the academy. Her dark hair was long and shiny and always smelled like strawberries. She had the best transformation jutsu in the entire class. Her eyes were the brightest, deepest shade of amber Kosuke had ever seen.
Kosuke’s appearance wasn’t the only thing he had in common with his mother. He might have inherited Sasuke’s sharp demeanor and strong sense of pride, but when it came to romance, he was a lot like Sakura. He loved deeply, completely, and easily. At school, his sensitive side was reserved for Ichika.
As Kosuke got closer to the school, he spotted Ichika reading on a bench. His heart fluttered as he started down the path that led to the school courtyard. Wow, he thought to himself, she looks so cute today. I wonder if she’s busy during lunch...?
“Kosuke-kun!”
No. Oh, god, no.
Kumiko Inuzuka. Also known as the most annoying girl ever. Kosuke couldn’t stand her shaggy pigtails, her predatory smile, or her pack of yapping puppies. He was really more of a cat person.
Kosuke grimaced as Kumiko grabbed onto his arm. “Wow. Kosuke. You look great today. Are those new forearm thingies? Those look like new forearm thingies.”
Kosuke could feel his annoyance festering inside of him. When his sister got angry, her frustration was practically explosive. Kosuke, on the other hand, had a much more subtle temper, like slow burning embers.
Cha...just who does this girl think she is?
“Hn. Kumiko, space? Please?”
“Oh. Aha, yeah, of course. Sorry.” Kumiko peeled herself away from Kosuke as if doing so caused her some sort of pain.
Kosuke turned to face Kumiko, fixing her with one of his most scornful glares. “Kumiko, I told you that you can’t keep doing that. It’s annoying, okay?”
“Oh, okay. Sorry.” An embarrassed blush crept onto Kumiko’s cheeks. Kosuke sighed, looking off to the side.
What he saw was about a million times worse than being cornered by Kumiko Inuzuka. Across the courtyard, leaning against Ichika’s bench, was the irritatingly cheeky and totally infuriating Hiro Sarutobi. He was saying something to Ichika— Kosuke’s Ichika! And Ichika was... laughing?
A rare occurance for Kosuke, and Uchihas in general, was becoming publicly flustered. However, Kosuke found himself completely overwhelmed as he turned back to face Kumiko. “Okayimgonnahavetogonow—pleasestoptouchingme—bye!”
Kosuke was at Ichika’s bench in an instant. Ichika, as pleasant as ever, fixed Kosuke with a sweet smile upon noticing his arrival.
“Oh, Kosuke-kun! Ohayo,” Ichika trilled. She couldn’t help but blush when Kosuke smiled back at her. The other girls were right. His eyes really were sensitive.
“Ahem.”
Ichika and Kosuke both turned their attention to the boy leaning against the bench behind them. Ugh, Hiro Sarutobi. He was a direct descendent of the Hyūga clan, the great grandson of the third Hokage, and the younger cousin of Boruto Niisan! He was especially proud of his relation to Boruto, since his older cousin was a hotshot shinobi and all that. He never failed to rub his familial ties—along with his ability to use his Byakugan— in Kosuke’s face.
Hiro grinned devilishly at Kosuke. “Well, well, well. If it isn’t my number-one rival!”
A dark cloud passed over Kosuke’s face. “Tch. You wish, loser. Even without my Sharingan, I’m on a totally different level than you. We are not rivals.”
Hiro rolled his eyes at Kosuke’s back as the pink-haired little boy turned away. “You think you’re so great, always acting so cool,” Hiro huffed, sulking as Kosuke turned his nose up at him for what felt like the millionth time.
Kosuke stalked back toward the school, but he made sure to glance back behind him, looking for Ichika. To his delight, she was right behind him, jogging to catch up.
“Hey, Kosuke-kun! Wait up!”
Cha, Kosuke thought, biting back a smile. True love conquers all!
***
“Goooo, Kosuke!”
The entire class was gathered in the training arena for sparring exercises. The kids huddled around the sparring circle, totally focused on the match at hand. All of the girls in the class were clustered on one side of the circle. At the moment, most of the girls were cheering on Kosuke Uchiha, except for Ichika Shimura. Instead, Ichika silently kept her eyes glued to the match, chewing nervously on her thumbnail.
Kosuke...Be careful!
In the middle of the circle, Kosuke was facing off against Hiro in a battle of taijutsu. Shino-sensei stood between the two boys, one hand up in the air.
3...2...1... Go!
Shino’s hand cut through the air, signaling the start of the match as he darted out of the boys’ way. Almost as soon as the teacher was out of the circle, Kosuke and Hiro charged at each other.
It wasn’t a long match. Only a few blows were exchanged before the winning hit landed. Kosuke ended the match by delivering a swift, gracefully executed kick to Hiro’s solar plexus. He smirked to himself as Hiro fell back onto the floor. Between Sasuke, Sakura, and Sarada, Kosuke had no shortage of amazing instructors to help him perfect his technique.
The class broke out in applause. Kosuke’s group of fangirls erupted in a fit of squealing. Ichika brought her hands to her mouth, biting back a smile.
“Yeah, Kosuke! What a guy! What a fight!” Kumiko jumped up and down, pumping her fist into the air. Next to her, Mameha Nameko crossed her arms and smiled smugly to herself.
“Well, what do you expect? Kosuke’s an Uchiha. Have you, like, even heard of his family? His mom, his dad, his sister... not to mention the Uchiha clan’s history. He was pretty much destined to be a prodigy.”
Hiro was practically steaming from his spot on the floor. Rage flashed in his pale lavender eyes. He shot his feet, face flushed with embarrassment.
“I’m so sick of this! Uchiha, Uchiha; all I ever hear is Uchiha! What’s so great about them, huh? Last time I checked pretty much any history book ever, all the Uchiha clan has ever done is cause this village trouble!”
There was a collective gasp amongst the class. Kosuke’s back was turned to Hiro; he had been in the middle of walking back into the crowd. Now, he simply stood in place, gazing stonily at the ground. The class could practically hear him catch his breath as they watched his chest rise and fall. Hiro stood looking completely shell-shocked, as if he could hardly believe he’d said those words out loud.
“Fine. You can have your way, Hiro. Starting today, the two of us are rivals.” Kosuke looked back at Hiro, his gaze piercing as he regarded the other boy with smoldering red eyes. Whispers broke out amongst the students. Kosuke’s.... could that be....the Sharingan?
“But mark my words, you’re going to regret ever dissing the Uchiha name!”

The Sharingan Son (1/?)
Ch. 1: Enter, Uchiha Kosuke!
NYR
Summary: The highly anticipated and widely imagined story of the second edition to the Uchiha clan. Kosuke Uchiha, the son of two of the most powerful shinobi in the Hidden Leaf, younger brother to the most promising young kunoichi of her generation, and the newest member of the infamously powerful Uchiha clan, was already destined to stand out. Adding bright pink hair, a plucky personality, popularity with girls, and prodigious skill with the Uchiha kekkei genkai? Kosuke might just become Konoha’s most legendary hero yet!
Authors Note: ahhh, my first fic!*also same old disclaimer none of these characters are mine, based on Naruto, etc.
1: Enter, Uchiha Kosuke!
A thirteen-year old Sarada Uchiha held her mother’s hand along with her breath as she awaited the first cry of her new little sibling. After hours and hours of pushing and bone crushing hand squeezes, they were both more than ready for the baby’s arrival. Sasuke stood opposite Sarada at Sakura’s bedside. In a silent gesture of comfort, he reached over to brush his wife’s hair out of her face.
Shizune, acting as Sakura’s midwife, called out one last encouraging instruction. “Almost done, Sakura! One more big push, okay?”
Sakura nodded, face flushed. Sarada and Sasuke both braced themselves as she grasped their hands, preparing to push. And after a few moments, the tension in the room evaporated as Sakura collapsed back against the pillows and the newest Uchiha began to cry for the first time.
Shizune beamed as she cut the umbilical cord and wrapped the baby in one of the nursery’s blankets. “A baby boy!”
Sarada watched in amazement as Shizune handed her brother over to her parents. As Sakura took the baby into her arms, she flushed, lips parting in surprise. Sarada took in her parents’ expressions, noticing that her father was smiling to himself.
“Hn.”
Sarada pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose. “Papa?”
Her parents exchanged a bemused glance before gesturing her over to take a closer look. Sarada leaned over her mother’s side to get a better look at her little brother, and immediately gasped with delight.
“His hair... is pink!”
***
Kosuke Uchiha was five years old when his big sister became a jonin. One of his earliest memories is of the morning she left for her first mission as a top level shinobi.
“Neechan!” Kosuke exclaimed, jumping into his older sister’s arms.
Sarada giggled, giving her little brother a quick squeeze. “Ohayo, Kosuke-kun.”
Kosuke positioned himself next to Sarada in the entryway of the Uchiha household. He watched in awe as she pulled on her high heeled shinobi boots, slipping a kunai into each shoe. Kosuke held his breath as his sister casually pulled out her forehead protector, brushing aside her long black hair to tie it at the nape of her neck. The hidden leaf symbol on his sister’s forehead seemed to wink at Kosuke as it caught the morning light. He couldn’t wait to grow up to be a great ninja like Sarada and their parents.
Kosuke jumped to his feet. “Berightback!” He blurted to his sister as he dashed toward the kitchen.
Sakura glanced up from the bento she was preparing as Kosuke, her spitting image, skittered to a halt in front of her.
“Kosuke-kun,” she cooed, reaching over to smooth down his hair. Usually, she’d have combed and tied back his shoulder-length hair into a neat ponytail by now. Kosuke resisted his mother’s coddling, reeling back and puffing out his cheeks in exasperation
“Mom!”
Sakura smiled to herself. “Okay, I know. Silly boy.” She reached over and handed Kosuke the bento she’d been working on. “Hurry up and bring this to your sister. And don’t forget to wish her good luck!”
Kosuke grapped Sarada’s lunch and ran back to the entryway. “Neechan,” Kosuke said, offering Sarada the bento. “On your mission today... do your best!”
Sarada couldn’t help but beam at her adorable baby brother. “Arigato, Kosuke-kun.”
The siblings were interrupted by a loud knock at the door. Sarada practically snapped to attention as she reached to answer the door.
“Cha! Time to do this thing!”
Kosuke’s little-boy excitement escalated as his sister opened the door. He quickly pushed past Sarada to greet their guest. Nothing got Kosuke more pumped up than a visit from his father’s top student, the son of his number-one favorite uncle.
“Boruto Niisan!”
“Hey, Kosuke,” Boruto chuckled, reaching over to rustle the little Uchiha’s mop of pink hair. It might have been lame when his mom patted his head, but it was totally cool when his big bro Boruto did the exact same thing. Kosuke gazed up at Boruto. With his awesome tattoos and the forehead protector passed down to him from Kosuke’s father, Boruto might have been just as much of a hero as Kosuke’s big sister.
“Tch. Stop flexing on my little brother, loser. He’s still impressionable.”
Kosuke looked between his sister and his honorary big brother. In that moment, he knew he wanted to become an even greater shinobi than his father’s pupil, and as impressive an Uchiha as his older sister. In the instant that marked the beginning of his journey as a ninja, he looked up at two of the Hidden Leaf’s newest jonin and grinned.
“Loser!”

Sasusaku Month Day 2 Prompt: Side by side.
Summary: Sasuke and Sakura fight side by side against the 10 tail clones, moments after Sakura attains her yin seal and finally reached Naruto and Sasuke’s level a they formed a new three way deadlock (Kishi and Sakura said it so ;P)
Notes: It’s basically me inserting my own filler scene in chapter 633. This takes place while the rest of the rookie nine are pulling out their new moves and before Sai falls and they summon their slug/snake/toad. For the sake of the prompt and SS month I am not dwelling on team 7 or the NS BROTP as much. I tried to focus on SS in this scene. Also there is no actually issue or story here, it’s more so, musings and small interactions between SS
Lady Tsunade, it looks like I’ve finally caught up to them!
Sakura has always thought of herself as a full fledged shinobi but despite that she always found herself being protected by Naruto and Sasuke. Sakura hated that and during the chunnin exams she vowed to become stronger and let the boys stare at her backs for once. Alas as time went by, her teammates continued to grow stronger and for a time she thought that reaching her goal was impossible. They were just too incredible. However Sakura pressed on and after three years of constantly focusing chakra in one spot on her forehead she had finally unleashed her byakugo no in and armed with her herculean strength, passed down from Lady Tsunade, the cherry blossom kunoichi was finally able to stand at the front lines with Naruto and Sasuke, she was finally able to match their backs. Now, backs faced to one another, team seven braced themselves for what was to come.
As much as Sasuke didn’t want to dwell on it, his heart and mind couldn’t fight his chains to the past, his chains to team seven. Reuniting with his former team and seeing Sakura finally live up to her full potential as a kunoichi, sent an undesired spark of pride and excitement surging through his being. Hmm. Monster strength and medical ninjutsu… ah. Sakura’s chakra control was always superb… and Naruto… so this is how the nine tail’s chakra looks under control? I guess these two really did some training in these three years. As much as he denied it, Sasuke indeed felt a distinct comfort and warmth being beside these two. Naruto was always his rival but Sakura… he still couldn’t completely get over it. She was no longer the same Sakura he knew. She was stronger, more courageous and more powerful. Sakura had blossomed into a fine kunoichi and she is holding her own side by side Sasuke himself. No. He can’t give in to these feelings. He was no longer a part of team seven and he was going to be hokage. Sasuke could not afford to dwell on past rivalries, friendships… a cast away love. Sakura is able to fight with us now. Why do I care so much? I severed these ties so long ago. Sakura doesn’t mean anything to me now.

Fairytale of London 1/?
I decided a while ago to pen a little tale of Will and Tessa’s wedding and wedding night. It wound up being a riff on Sleeping Beauty, and taking me quite a while (since I’m writing…four…books at the same time) but I thought I’d share the beginning and post the rest in installments. Warnings for romancey business and not knowing how often I’ll update.
Part One:
Today will be the happiest day the two of you will ever have together.
Will Herondale sat in the window of his new bedroom and looked out at a London frozen under a chilly winter sky. Snow dusted the tops of houses reaching away toward the pale ribbon of the Thames, giving the view the feeling of a fairytale.
Though at the moment, Will was not feeling very friendly toward fairytales.
He ought to be happy, he knew that much — after all, it was his wedding day. And he had been happy, since the moment he’d woken up, even through having Henry, Gabriel and Gideon troop into his room and bother him with advice and jokes while he was getting dressed, all the way up to the end of the ceremony. That was when it had happened. That was why he was sitting on a window seat staring at winter-bitten London instead of downstairs by the fire kissing his wife. His brand new wife.
Tessa.
Everything had started out perfectly well. It wasn’t strictly a Shadowhunter wedding, because Tessa wasn’t strictly a Shadowhunter. But Will had decided to wear wedding gear anyway, because he was going to be the head of the London Institute, and his children would be Shadowhunters, and Tessa would run the Institute by his side and be part of all of his Shadowhunter life and they should begin as they meant to go on, in his opinion.
Henry, wielding a stele from his Bath chair, helped Will with the runes of love and luck he’d decorated his hands and arms with before he put his shirt and gear jacket on. Gideon and Gabriel joked about what a terrible bargain Tessa was getting in Will, and how they would happily take his place, though the Lightwood brothers were both engaged, and Henry was delightedly married with a small and loudly screaming son, Charles Buford, currently taking up much of his parents’ time and attention.
And Will smiled and laughed, and looked in the mirror to make sure his hair didn’t look disgraceful and he thought of Jem, and his heart ached.
It was tradition for Shadowhunters to have a suggenes, someone who walked alongside them up the aisle to the marriage ceremony. Usually a sibling or a close friend — and if you had a parabatai, the choice for suggenes was made for you. But Will’s parabatai was a Silent Brother now, and Silent Brothers could not be suggenes. So that place beside Will would remain empty as he walked the floor of the cathedral.
Or at least it would look empty to everyone else. To Will, it would be filled with the memory of Jem: Jem’s smile, Jem’s hand on his arm, Jem’s unwavering loyalty.
In the mirror, he saw a Will Herondale, nineteen years old, who looked composed and calm: inside his soul breathed grief and love. Until this last year, he had never thought that the heart could hold a full measure of sorrow and happiness at the same time, and yet as he grieved Jem and loved Tessa he felt both in equal parts. He knew she did, too, and it was a comfort to the two of them to be together and share what few others had ever felt, for though Will believed profound grief and profound joy could happen at the same time, as equal love did, he could not believe it was common.
“Don’t forget the cane, Will,” said Henry, snapping Will out of his reverie, and he handed Will the dragon-headed cane that had been Jem’s. Will carried it, the jade head smooth under his fingers, as they made their way downstairs and into the heart of the church.
Will came in through the back and moved swiftly to the altar, decorated with heaps of white flowers that had come from Idris. They filled the room with a scent that reminded him of Herondale Manor in the Idris countryside, a great pile of golden stone where he and Tessa would now spend summer months. His heart lifted at the thought.
It lifted further as he leaned Jem’s cane against the altar and turned to face the room: he had been afraid that the Enclave of London, in their prejudice and bigotry, would avoid the wedding: feelings about the fact that Tessa was half-warlock ranged from indifference to outright coldness. But the pews were filled, and he saw beaming faces throughout: Henry beside Charlotte, who had left baby Charles in the care of Bridget, her hat trembling with a mass of flowers; the recently married Baybrooks, the Highsmiths and Bridgestocks, Sophie moving to make room for Gideon and Gabriel, and even Tatiana Blackthorn, holding the blanket-wrapped bundle of her son, Jesse, and wearing an oddly familiar pink dress.
Will glanced toward the back of the church …
