Hands down the most fun course I’ve ever run. And a contender for the most difficult. So worth it. I ran the last couple of #miles in memory of my dearly departed #dog Molly. Which means I tried to leave nothing on the trail. Doing so helped me feel like she was with me running, tongue out, ears alert, and nose sniffing the mountain air. It was just a fleeting moment, but she was there by my side. I’ve come to call these Molly Miles — pushing myself to not give in to doubt or fatigue but keep pushing. After all, that’s how she lived right up to her final moments. My first race after her passing was a confirming closure. And a personal high point as a pet parent and runner — amazing how a little perspective during a race can help you feel and perform better.
