Hello from 2018!! This is my first post of 2018 obviously. It’s just over ten minutes of my poor heart working hard after a long, stressful day. No skips, a little on the fast side, but here it is, my hardworking, beating heart. See if you can spot my lung sounds! Enjoy and if you have any comments, feel free to let me know. Thank you to all 328 of my wonderful followers, my heart beats for you (and me of course)!

10-and-a-half minutes of my healthy but stressed heart working hard for me. My heart gets faster towards the end as I get more excited feeling it beat inside of me. As always, let me know what you think. Enjoy!

So I noticed that despite not having posted in months, I’ve been steadily gaining followers. I thought that in light of this development, I would post a new recording. Here are just over six minutes of my heart beating at rest as I lay in bed after a long day where I only had three hours’ sleep the night before and had done a half hour of vigorous cardio at the gym about 6 hours before the recording was made. My heart is relatively steady, save for a couple skips I felt while making the recording. You may need headphones for this one. As always, I welcome your comments about my heartbeat.

OMG yes! It's amazing how hard the heart works for so long.
Do you ever just sit there and listen to your heartbeat and then marvel at the fact that it’s been beating like that for an x amount of years while simultaneously expecting it to stop out of exhaustion at any moment?

This is 90% of why I am a cardiophile. My little muscle is the best.
I think the most soothing thing is laying down and listening to your heart beat. It’s a reminder that no matter how bad your day was, no matter how badly you feel about yourself, there is a little muscle inside you that is 100% dedicated to keeping you alive. That, and the billions of cells, as well. Their soul purpose is to make as good of a “you” as they can, and they literally are interested in no one else. You. I’d call that love. ❤️

Definitely! No one besides myself and my followers can know about this.
Reblog if your Tumblr page is your little secret!
Omg - definitely!! No-one in my ‘real’ life knows anything about any of this…. if anyone ever found out I’d literally have to emigrate to somewhere very far away, lol …. :D

Here are 10+ minutes of my heart just beating. No skips or premature ventricular contractions, my heart just beats and beats and beats with a steady rhythm, changing speed only with my breathing. I just let my heart do its thing inside of me. You may notice that my heart begins to beat faster the longer the recording goes on--it’s because my heart was so excited to have this much attention lavished on it that it wanted to show off. I’ll make another recording after I’ve been exercising regularly again for a few more weeks and also after my meds have worn off, so you guys can hear some slower beats of mine. But for now, followers, enjoy all these heartbeats of mine. As always, feel free to comment on my heart sounds, telling me what you think about my heartbeat. After all, I’m here to share my heart with you guys. FYI, I had to compress this file for it to fit on this post, which I hope doesn’t compromise the quality. If it does, let me know and I’ll do my best to fix it.

My poor heart hard at work thanks to my ADHD meds. There are a few skips in there...see if you can hear them. Headphones are most definitely recommended to get the full experience. I plan to post another recording of my heart soon when my ADHD meds have worn off. In the meantime, enjoy three minutes and seven seconds of my heart doing its thing. As always, I welcome any comments you have about my heart--comments make my heart happy and feel appreciated and loved.

Blood pressure check!! Thought you all would appreciate something different while I’m here. My blood pressure is excellent even if my heart rate is a little high.

Hey fellow cardiophiles, here’s a brand-new recording of my heart doing what it does best: simply beating and keeping me alive in the process. It’s a little fast due to a combination of allergy meds (non-drowsy 24-hour Claritin-D aka the kind you can make meth with), ADHD meds (30 mg Adderall XR taken with a cup of coffee), and mild dehydration. You’ll definitely need headphones, and if you listen closely, you can hear me breathing, and my heart speeding up and slowing down in response to the pressure change in my chest each time my lungs expand and contract. This was just a recording to test a new rig, but once I listened to it I felt it could be posted (plus it’s been ages since I’ve posted a new recording of my beat). Anyway, enjoy, let me know what you think, and look forward to a longer recording to come.

A love letter to my body
I know this is a cardiophile blog, but I want to make this post about my entire body for a change. Here goes.
So, I started working out almost two years ago in order to focus after transferring to a more intensive college. In my efforts to improve my mind, I legitimately didn’t expect to experience any positive changes in my body, but lo and behold, I have. Similarly, I didn’t expect to develop the love and affection for my heart muscle that I have but making and feeling my heart work so hard did just that.
Over the past 5 or so months, I’ve experienced considerable increases in my cardiovascular fitness and my muscle strength, definition, and tone, as a result of my drastically increasing the length and intensity of my workouts. I can move faster for longer periods of time without tiring, my legs are bigger and stronger, and my arms, chest, and back all feel more powerful than before. My shoulders, biceps, and triceps are all more defined, and the veins in my forearms are slowly revealing themselves. My lungs are healthier and stronger, so I’ve needed my inhaler a lot less lately, and I can breathe better. I’m also eating better; I choose salad over fries more frequently, I focus more on the nutrients in food, I’ve dramatically cut back on junk food and soda, and I drink so much more water than I did three years ago.
I’ve also taken off about 14 pounds from my 5′6″ frame, going from 141 lbs (at my last doctor’s visit in August 2015) to about 127 lbs. Obviously, I didn’t need to lose any weight whatsoever, but I’m convinced having lost that weight (which I assume was dangerous, visceral fat) has made my organs (my heart and lungs, in addition to my digestive and endocrine organs) work and feel better. Literally, my insides feel better than before.
The upshot of all this? I am more in love and connected with my body than ever before. I gave my body the gift of exercise, and it responded by growing healthier and stronger, just to support me, my health, and my activity levels. I am in love with this one and only body of mine, this body that permits me to interact with the world. My body loves me, cares for me, changes and improves itself for me. I can abuse it, and it will bounce back with minimal complaints. I’ve even been considering getting a massage for the first time ever, as a treat to my hard-working, healthy, strong, and resilient body.
And the thing is, I’m lucky my body can do this -- there are many other bodies that can’t (and those bodies deserve love, too). Working out to improve my health and strength is the best way I’ve found so far for me to show my body how much I value and appreciate its resilience and devotion to me. I’m still frustrated with my human need to eat, sleep, drink water, etcetera, but I am deeply in love with my body. To be sure, I’ve never hated my body or wanted to harm it, but now that I’ve felt how truly amazing my body is through exercise, I’ve fallen completely in love with it. I know this was long, but I’ve been feeling escalating amounts of love, affection, and empathy towards my body, and I finally needed to get it out in writing.
To anyone reading this: I’ve heard health defined as the relationship between you and your body, while I’ve also heard the relationship between you and your body described as the most intimate one you will ever have. I wanted to leave you with those two thoughts to consider your relationship with your own body since you read the five paragraph essay I wrote about mine.

I’ve been ramping up my workouts over the past few weeks (both cardio and weightlifting) and I can feel that my body’s gotten stronger. My heart and lungs are better at working together to deliver oxygen to my tissues, and my muscles are more defined and can handle heavier weights/more reps. I’ve always heard that exercise can transform your body, but it’s really amazing seeing results in my body. Even my cynical self feels awe at feeling my vessel grow, change, and get healthier and stronger. Even though I might hate being human, I do love my body and want to give it the best care I can.
