oh no i forgot to post my last few drabbles on my tumblr! i've got 6 i haven't posted! i'll post them here soon and try to space them out by at least a few hours each so i don't feel like i'm spamming.

also i'm obviously not gonna finish within may. i will finish, though. i'd like to try to get them done by june 7th so they get reblogged, but even if i don't that's ok!

But then they found out.

Now, when Himemiya belongs to Surya, he orders her something expensive. It’s curious that a diner like this even has foods like champagne scones or mushroom risotto, but he always manages to find them on the menu. She’s more important than he imagined.

Now, when Himemiya belongs to Rise, Rise chooses something appropriate for a girl. An egg white omelette with spinach. Some cucumbers and pita with hummus. The house salad. The last thing she needs is more indulgence.

Now, when Himemiya belongs to Shishio, he says “party of three” before anyone can stop him.

For their regular meetings, the three of them went to the local diner to meet up.

Four of them. Surya, Rise, Shishio, and Himemiya went too. Their first few times, she didn’t even get a seat at their table, though she smiled placidly as she stood at her groom’s side. So they started coming in and saying “party of four.” But then, when their server took their order, curiously Anthy was ignored. So they made a tradition of always ordering four of the same thing.

They wanted her to eat.

Surya would always pay with his credit card. Rich asshole.

Sasha moved her fingers over the frets, trying to build up muscle memory for this song.

Her wolf ears flattened in disdain each time a note was not quite right. She knew Solalumen would be ecstatic to hear anything she sang, regardless of any slight imperfections, but that wasn’t good enough. She’d been howling at the moon all her life, and switching her attention to the sun, trying to serenade something so self-sufficient, of course she needed to be better.

She breathed and tried playing again, singing quietly.

“Every time that I think of you, I smile for a while…”

When Surya wins a duel, sends sky blue or salmon or now mustard petals flying, Anthy’s first step is always to retrieve a pair of sunglasses and put them on.

It’s a necessity. Surya’s bright smile and eyes and chest when he goes shirtless (as he often finds excuses to do) are all too much to handle on a daily basis without some protection.

(Once, after explaining his Punjabi lineage, he asked her where in India she hailed from. Her mouth was dry as she smiled blankly, silently.)

Is it such a crime to enjoy her lot when she can?

Loop’s eyes went darkless (like before).

“Could you help me get my back?” Amanda asked, pulling up her hair to reveal her bare back that was exposed by her navy blue bikini. It was the only part of her that she hadn’t slathered with the suntan lotion.

Sasha rolled her eyes. Kaylamanda just loved their incessant PDA, didn’t they? She was sure the ‘help’ would involve phrases like ‘really get in there’ and ‘that feels nice’ and…

Why wasn’t Kayla jumping to it already?

Oh. Kayla was already far away in the water, and Sol was taking photos of seagulls.

Amanda was looking right at…

In that case, this would qualify. Yet somehow, as he watched the procession, Hamlet couldn’t make himself laugh.

All of his nightmares were coming true. First, his uncle stole his (dear, precious) mother, and now, not satisfied, he’d taken Ophelia too?

Ophelia, who had always been so good, so quiet, so respectful, so�� un-womanly in how she didn’t ask the impossible of him, she had proven her sex by stupidly choosing that evil man.

Why did the world seem to want him to suffer more than anyone?

Anise left the Winter Kingdom with a rare grin. They had… a quest! The past few times they came to the Winter Kingdom, they were sent away with nothing, but this time, The King had an important mission for them.

It was an incredible feeling. Whenever they talked to The King, they felt something cold in their chest growing so tight it could squeeze them. Pride. That feeling was pride, surely. This quest would not be easy, but they could do it!

They swore on their sword they would do as Winter King had asked and slay the dangerous snipes.

Rise-Sama’s sword pierces the golden rose on Surya’s chest, as it has many times before. Surya’s beam barely falters as he takes his leave, saying he’ll see Rise-Sama at the diner tonight.

Anthy turns to Rise-Sama and explains that she belongs to her now. Rise-Sama does not interrupt her, even though she has heard this spiel countless times. She likes the repetitive nature, the reminder that Anthy is just a doll instead of a real girl.

“I have this adorable aqua dress I’ve been wanting you to try on, Himemiya,” Rise says.

Fine. Anthy has certainly done worse for quarter.

Solalumen brought a rock home. It was just a normal rock, lumpy and gray and the same as any other, but she picked this one out very intentionally. The instant she got home, she had already gathered her watercolor set and started to paint it with patterns of orange and green and purple, abstract bursts of color. And, to Sasha’s wonder, the shapes really did perfectly fit onto that lopsided surface like this project was what the rock was meant for.

She hoped the painter’s inspiration would find Sasha’s soul next, and she wondered what colors would fit its lumps.

Rise has a face, a body, a third dimension now. More than that, she has a ring, a letter, a sword.

Does she remember what she was, who what she left behind? Does she know? Does she know? Does she really know?

How is one shadow supposed to tell the future, the present, the past?

How is one girl, one ascended extra, supposed to justify a role in a narrative with no room for anything short of a prince?

Sure as the Earth’s revolution, this hatching will end in nothing.

Ourselves - And Immortality

It was a long night of pain and its remedy. Guilda, bless her, took Ophelia’s cue and drank herself stupid too.

And so, when morning came, and they were due to leave this town, Rosie kicked at both of her flowers lying in the grass and scowled in irritation. They were certainly not fit to walk, and staying past dawning was not a good idea unless they wanted trouble.

She sweet-talked a carriage driver into letting them sit in back with his hay as he left town. The three napped in back, free of any thought besides the carriage’s jostle.

I wanna get back to writing and drabbles seem pretty approachable as a way to do that! Not sure how long I'll keep it up, but Day 1 already has my mind buzzing with an idea, so... I will commit to writing at least one drabble for May!
