Among the Flowers
Ganyu x gn! Reader
your girl pulled Ganyu last night and is so stoked--can't build her talents yet so I had to get it out my system somehow. Hope u enjoy!! <3
Ganyu's overslept...again...and who better to find her than the reliable Y/N?
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•
Ganyu had gone missing again.
The annoyed man–you think he was important--who had let you know shook his head bitterly, demanding that you set off to find her immediately.
“Tell her we need her report by tonight!” He spat, and you resisted the urge to sigh; your lunch break has just started. “It’s of the utmost importance it is in tonight.”
And so, a little begrudgingly, you set off to find the blue-haired girl with your weapon in hand, though you doubted you’d need it. The city had been quiet ever since the ordeal with the awakened sea monster thing…thank Archons you were off that day.
From the little you knew about the secretary, you knew she was prone to falling asleep in inconvenient places–as well as at inconvenient times. You start by peering into the alleys of Liyue and asking the passersby if she was around, but they all shook their heads.
You walk the perimeter of the harbor, making sure to peek in as many open crates as possible, only to turn up empty.
Sighing, you walk back up to the shops, checking around the legs of the citizens for the slight possibility she had chosen the ground as her napping spot.
You’re about to give up–Chef Mao didn’t seem pleased when you insisted on checking his stove–when you stumble upon a wheelbarrow-turned pot outside someone’s home.
It’s then that you spot a pair of red horns poking out from between the flowers.
You smile despite your missed lunch, watching as who was undoubtedly Ganyu snoozed peacefully in the cart, her quiet snores disturbing the petals closest to her.
As much as you hated to disturb her, you had a job to do.
And so you approach the wheelbarrow and give the wheel a swift kick.
Though it gives a violent shake under your powerful blow, it is to no avail–all she does is snore a little louder.
Well, your job was only to find her, not bring her back.
You shrug to yourself, turning to begin your walk back to your commissioner, considering it a job well done.
Only for a piercing shriek to ring out behind you.
You turn swiftly, your weapon out on instinct, only to see the cart Ganyu had previously been resting on topple to its side.
Rushing to where she lay in a heap, you bend down to help her out of the remnants of the disturbed flowers, her eyes wide and face red.
“Are you alright?” You ask her, helping her shakily to her feet, your body still on edge after the fright. Ganyu only nods her head slightly, still fighting off her sleep. “You’re not hurt, are you?”
“I’m alright,” she manages, growing quiet as she asks, “Were you sent to find me again, Y/N?”
You step away to give her room as she begins to shake the soil from her clothes, and you smile slightly.
“Always my favorite part of my lunch break.” You joke, before adding, “They said to have your report in by tonight, by the way. Didn’t specify.”
At this, she begins to shake her head, her eyes widening in panic.
“How did I forget?” She cries, her breathing quickening as she wrings her hands. “Oh, I shouldn’t have gone on my lunch break! There’s still a million things to do and I’ve only gotten through half. How could I be so–”
“Hey,” You place a gentle hand on her shaking shoulders, concerned by the paling of her face, the fatigue bruising the skin under her eyes. Her worried gaze cuts to yours, and you’re taken aback to see tears shining in the whites.
“Hey”, you repeat, quieter now as you offer her your arms. She watches you cautiously, before stepping close enough for you to wrap them around her. She nestles her head into your neck, her tears falling as you whisper into her hair, “It’s alright. There’s still enough time; you’ll be okay.”
You hold her for a while, long enough for your lunch to be forgotten, long enough for her breath to steady.
For as long as she needs, before she is ready.
She looks up at you, her face close enough to yours for you to feel her breath on your skin. You become aware of your proximity, and it sends your heart lurching into your throat.
Her eyes were so pretty…a thought that prompts you to sheepishly look away.
What were you doing, thinking things like that?
Even if they were true.
“Thank you,” she tells you, and you look back down to see the lovely smile she sends you. A smile that makes you feel warm all over.
You clear your throat, feeling the skin on your face particularly burn, before returning her smile, too.
“Like I said, it’s my favorite part.” You tell her, but she only scrunches her nose.
“You didn’t say that because you meant it, though, did you?” She asks playfully, narrowing her eyes slightly. “I’ve lived long enough to know.”
“Of course I meant it.” You tell her, and it’s true now. With a beautiful girl in your arms, how could it not be? Before you break away, you grow more serious. “Just take care of yourself tonight, alright? You’re just a person, not a machine.”
Her eyes seem to grow watery again at those words, and before you can comfort her, she buries her head in your neck. You blush furiously at the sudden contact but don’t hesitate to embrace her back.
“Thank you, Y/N,” she says, and you feel her smile against your skin even before she pulls away to show you. You reach down cautiously to wipe a stray tear, and she leans into your gentle touch.
“You don’t have to thank me, Ganyu.” You reply, watching her softly. “I’m just happy you’re okay.”
She smiles brightly, and it is then you see the green in her teeth. The small seeds glued to her gums.
You look down at your feet, where the disturbed flowers lay nestled among the soil. You see the bitten stems, see the torn petals…
And burst into laughter.
Her smile falters slightly at the suddenness of your laugh, her brows drawn together in curiosity.
"What is it?" She asks, looking over her shoulder for an explanation. When she sees nothing that would suffice as an explanation, she turns to you in confusion. "What's wrong?"
“Nothing.” You tell her, drawing her to your chest again.
If only you could stand there forever, holding her close.
Holding her until her stresses melted in the sun.
Your laugh dies down, replaced by a small, gentle smile.
And you tell her again,
“Nothing’s wrong at all.”

A small hike
March 7th x gn! reader
Love my baby girl March 7th, this ones for all the ppl with amazing taste ♡
You agree to accompany March 7th on her quest to photgraph the sunset
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•
“You are so slow! We’ll never get there at this rate.”
You look up from the ground to see March glaring at you playfully, her camera cupped between her hands and her vibrant pink hair flowing around her as a result of the slight breeze.
The trail you followed her through was surrounded by foliage, but you couldn’t seem to find what you were looking for. Noticing that your eyes were back on the floor, March sighed and stomped back towards you.
“We’re going to miss the sunset, Y/N. I thought you wanted to help me try out my new lens.”
She gently grabs your arm, dragging you further up the trail. Her hand is warm, and the way she holds you is so gentle it sends a fire across your skin. You stumble as she leads you up the rough path, but she only quickens her speed when you complain.
The sky shimmers gold, and it is then that the weakening sunlight lands on the petals of a small blue flower.
You gasp, causing March to stop long enough for you to break free of her grip. Before she can protest, you duck down and pluck the stem from the hardened soil. She looks at you curiously as you cradle the small flower carefully, before you hold it out towards her with a smile.
“For you, my lady.” You tease, your smile widening as her face blooms pink.
“You..!” She begins, before cutting herself off with a gasp. Your expression falters until she excitedly brings her camera up to her flushed face. Smiling, she aims the lens at your face, instructing you to hold the flower up. You do as she says, beginning to feel a little self-aware as she grins.
“You look so cute in this lighting! Hold still, will you?” Her compliment makes your eyes widen, your heart beating wildly as the camera clicks a few times. She lowers the camera, her face alight with a joy so pure it lights you aflame.
You clear your throat, dropping your eyes to a spot beside her head before asking, “Well…how did we look?”
March 7th giggles, and you meet her gaze. The waning sun at her back highlights the perimeter of her hair like a halo, and her eyes sparkle with such a gentle adoration, you feel yourself melting.
“You look perfect.” She whispers, holding her hand out for the flower at last.
You’re about to hand it to her before you decide something better.
She watches as you reach forward, and slip the stem behind her ear.
At this, she giggles, striking a pose for you after you adjust her hair around the new accessory.
“And how do I look?” She asks, her hands behind her head in an exaggeratedly confident way.
“Beautiful,” You tell her, smiling as she shyly looks away. Before she drops her hands, you gasp. “Freeze right there!”
“A bit insensitive, Y/N,” she says with amusement, but she complies as you extract your phone and raise it to her face. March sticks her tongue out, giving the camera a wink as you take her picture.
It wasn’t as flashy as her camera, but when you click on her picture, your heart soars.
She was wonderful in any medium.
And from the way she looks at you when you meet her eyes,
you think she’d say the same for you.
