Matilda Mundy!! One of my OCs from my apprenticeship AU!

- Was abandoned as an infant a few miles out from Teufort

- Found and raised by Sniper

- She is very very very gay. Girl liker confirmed. Her dad doesn’t understand because he kisses men but he’s supportive.

- Matilda loves bugs. One of her favorite hobbies when she isn’t training is going outside, finding as many as she can, catching them in jars and sketching them before releasing them.

- She’s also somewhat skilled at the guitar. Learned from her uncle Dell.

- Matilda picked up several languages growing up in the base and can get by in a good few of them. She refuses to learn French out of spite.

- Overall she’s pretty smart but refuses to do any work she deems “unnecessary”. She can be difficult to work with on a group project. It doesn’t help that she’s stubborn as a mule.

I so desperately want to be able to convince Trump supporters with facts and logic and empathy, but it’s so important to remember that their ignorance is INTENTIONAL. my mom didn’t let us watch Sleeping Beauty growing up. I asked her why recently and she said, “it was evil.” when I pointed out other movies had similar themes and depictions of evil, and asked what the difference was, she couldn’t. I pressed one more time and she just said, “it felt evil to me. I didn’t like it”. same thing with dune 2: she said it was “dark”, and I was, “literally, like the movie’s lighting? Or the themes?” and she said “I don’t know” and didn’t want to talk about it more. many conservatives genuinely cannot tell the difference between “I don’t like it” and “this is evil” and they do not care to learn despite many chances

Did somebody say lore drop?? (Me)

- Dell Conagher and Nancy Jean Graves’ relationship was mostly one of convenience. Dell was deep, deep in the closet, Nancy was one of his closest friends.

- They both decided early on that despite the lack of any real romance, they both wanted to have kids. Though time and time again, nothing.

- Failure after failure was starting to get to them. That, combined with an already loveless marriage, started to wear on both. Their friendship started to deteriorate more and more.

- Eventually, they mutually decided to separate. The divorce wasn’t easy, but they agreed it was for the best.

- Dell still saw his relationship with Nancy as neutral, no hard feelings, but Nancy started to resent him. He wasted her time. He wasted four years of her life.

- And then there was Molly.

- Molly was entirely unexpected. Nancy only found out that she was pregnant once she and Dell were already divorced for three weeks. She didn’t tell him at first, thinking she’d just have the kid and raise it alone. Besides, he had that new job. He’d be too busy to be in the kid’s life.

- Didn’t really work out.

- So Engineer found out that he had a daughter about two months before she was actually due to show up. Negotiating time off with the administrator was absolute hell, but he did what he had to.

- When Molly Ann Conagher was born, her Pa was right there. He held her for the first time and his heart broke into a million pieces. As many sentries and dispensers as he’s built, she’s still the best thing he’s ever made.

- Nancy didn’t really share the sentiment.

- Postpartum depression is very real. She tried to wait it out, but it didn’t really go away. Well. It did, but she still couldn’t bring herself to really care about her daughter. She kept her alive, but that was it.

- Molly showed signs of prodigal levels of giftedness very early on. She shared her father’s love of building things, and often brought little contraptions back every time she visited the base. Nancy was not fond of this. Molly reminded her of Dell. Everything she did was just echoes of a man that Nancy couldn’t love if she tried.

- The final straw was when Molly was in her freshman year of high school at age 11. An incident with the cafeteria’s vending machines got Molly suspended, and Nancy gave up. Molly was Dell’s problem now.

- Molly Ann Conagher had visited her father’s workplace several times over her formative years, so she settled in pretty quick. Dell fixed up a spare room for her, and let Molly modify her own loft bed.

- Molly’s very fond of her “uncles”, and they’ve got a soft spot for her, too. She’s a good kid. Even if she has caused a few (several) power outages.

- She only really started to get self-conscious of her esotropia when she turned 8, and after that point she took to wearing goggles like her dad’s.
