Pinky & The Brain
I do not believe that any peacock envies another peacock his tail, because every peacock is persuaded that his own tail is the finest in the world. The consequence of this is that peacocks are peaceable birds. – Bertrand Russell
This is an image taken of a high functioning brain using a diffusion MRI machine, which can follow the neural pathways and connections of the brain. When I first saw…

Hibernation Mode
I do not believe that sheer suffering teaches. If suffering alone taught, all the world would be wise, since everyone suffers. To suffering must be added mourning, understanding, patience, love, openness and the willingness to remain vulnerable. – Joseph Addison
Over the past ten months of my life I’ve gone into serious hibernation mode – post traumatic growth disorder sounds about right…I think…

Ultimate Paradox
“The day will come when, after harnessing space, the winds, the tides of gravitation, We shall harness for God the energies of love. And on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, we shall have discovered fire.” – Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
Some of you know me personally, some of you know me through this blog and some of you are stuck with me. The people who do know me, would…

Hi Beauty’s,
I’m back on WordPress and I thought for the first post back why not talk about my favorite meal of the day and time of the day, Breakfast. Yep, it’s the goods. Breakfast is, if not, the most important meal of the day. It helps energize us and kickstart our bodies into go mode, giving us the fuel and nutrients we need to connect with the world.
This meal is especially important for…

4 ways to add some play to your day
When it comes to being healthy, happy, and whole there are a lot of moving parts to LIFT34's enlightened lifestyle plan. One of these moving parts is taking a step outside of your box, putting away the to-do list and playing! Yes, I said playing. Think photo shoots in the desert, rollerblading (because it's awesome), hoola hooping - because who doesn't love to hoola hoop? -- you get my drift.
I think we can all agree that we don't allow ourselves to fool around, have fun and play enough. In Brene Brown's book, The Gifts of Imperfection , she explains how play helps us foster empathy, navigate complex social groups, shape our brain, and is at the core of creativity and innovation. Dr. Stuart Brown, a psychiatrist who has spent years researching the importance of play in our lives writes, "The opposite of play is not work--the opposite of play is despression." Yikes -- let's all stop for a second, lift our noses away from the grindstone and allow yourself break away from that get er' done mentality and add some play to your day.
4 WAYS TO ADD SOME PLAY TO YOUR DAY
1. CREATE - whether it's beading a bracelet or trying to recreate one of your recent Pinterest finds - just get those creative juices flowing and play around with it.
2. ACTIVE - you know those moments where you leave your desk to practice yoga stands in the office? Or maybe that's just me. haha
3. SOCIAL - lets connect. Play helps us navigate through social groups - so grab some friends play some bingo, maybe hit up an ice skating rink, farmer's market or play a round of apples to apples.
4. HOBBIES - Golf, soccer, tennis, running, knitting, scrapbooking -- this list goes on and on. Maybe mix it up a little and invite some friends to play a round of laser tag (my inner child coming out) or just to kick the soccer ball around.
So, for pete's sake - get out there and play.
