Back at it again at krispy kreme

PORTAL 1 GLaDOS MODEL STUDY AND REFERENCES

Decided to boot up Garry's mod once again, but I wanted to play around with Portal 1's GLaDOS animations and realised that she doesn't get much love with this design. I know it's TECHNICALLY been retconned out at this point, but I still find this older interpretation of our favourite killer robot lady quite interesting. This version of GLaDOS holds more of that "upside-down woman" vibe that is seen in a few pieces of Portal 1 concept art more than Portal 2 does. I guess you can interpret that however you want, but something something she sheds more of her more "humanoid" façade now that she's completely free from the scientist's control.

Fun fact: They were going to lean into the "humanoid" details of GLaDOS as in old Portal 2 beta test animations, she's emotes a lot more with her body and the "arms" on the sides of her body. She's straight up sassing it. Serving as some may say. But it confirms that GLaDOS in this design is supposed to be a humanoid figure bending backwards(or upwards due to the angle she's held at) and being connected to the ceiling by the legs.

I haven't really drawn Portal 1 GLaDOS myself aside from a couple headshots when I'm bored, but being able to put her design into the restraints of a somewhat human body has made me a little more confident with learning.

A few extra notes before I close this up.

Portal 1's body is rigid and stiff. I suspect it to be due to the two supports that link the upper and lower body together. The arms also stabilises the two.

A lot of the tech details are pretty nonsensical compared to her Portal 2 appearance. I don't hold it against the devs though, as it was (most of the team's) first giant mainstream videogame.

Portal 1 has a completely different art style compared to Portal 2 as well. Can be summed up to sleek, white plastic shelling and very circular geometry. Again, a product of 2007 graphics.

Back at it again with another Garry's mod render because I finally have a new external harddrive! had to reinstall everything though... my older drive is beyond saving at this point. This is a remake of an older Gmod render of mine that's still on my steam account! Of course it's Wheatley what do you expect from me.

Anywho, With a little bit of colour and glow editing in post, I'm really proud of how this turned out! poster gmod console command I love you.

For the anniversary of Portal 2 this year, I wanted to redraw an old piece of art of mine (again), now being about 3 times i've drawn this moment in the span of 5 years. I've been thinking to redraw it for a good while, so this is the perfect excuse this time around <3

PS: My birthday is today as well. Can't believe I'm going to be one year older but with the same love of the games I like.

Don't know how many of you have heard, but this morning the composer and audio director for the game Cult of the Lamb passed away. It was a real shock to hear the news as COTL is one of my favourite games, even though I don't post much about it. I had the chance to ask him and some of the dev team a simple question back in 2023 during a orchestral concert of the soundtrack in ACMI, Melbourne. The question was about what his favourite boss theme was (Which his answer was Leshy).

I saw him again during PAX AUS 2024, one of the most fun an chaotic days I've had yet, and getting to be in the crowd out front the giant temple was amazing. I didn't get to directly speak to him again, but he managed to hyped up the whole audience with his impressive DJ set and remixes.

I haven't listened to much of his work outside of the game's universe, but I know for a fact he was a skilled artist. I hope his family, the dev team and the community have their time to mourn and celebrate his life, and we're so lucky to have gotten so much music from him during his time here.

Another thing I did for Darcy, and yes I am planning to eventually go through the whole album (not bonus tracks tho.)

I suppose I made myself a challenge with lore creation for this guy and related characters to entirely base it off the album. It's fun though!

And to note, The lore is WAY out of order with the order of the album. maybe you guys can figure it out yourselves for now, but once I'm done, I'll probably tally them up for you guys.

For now, have a funky anxious conspiracy theorist.

This art prompt's theme is "Art Class"! I thought it would be fun if Hat Kid and MU had fun not-official sister activities together. I imagine MU is more inclined to drawing/painting due to all the graffiti in Mafia Town, while Hat Kid does more crafty fabric stuff! How else are you supposed to get very specific plushies like an Alp Nomad or Science Owls?

Anyways, I hope you like this piece! It's simple, but it was fun to do <3
