The technical event was inaugurated by Honorable Chairman, Managing Director, Chief Financial Officer, Principal, Event Coordinator Prof.Jeyakumar, Head of the Dept- EEE and Programme Coordinator of Expo 2020. The presence of Head of the Departments, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff made the event bright. To give a traditional touch, Lamp Lighting session was done which added a spark to the event.

Respected Principal Dr.R.Rajesh delivered the presidential address. In his speech, he stated the importance of learning new technologies and tools for the students, shared his valuable knowledge among the students highlighting the importance of project making.”

The displayed were much innovative. Colleges like Govt.Polytechnic, Sree Krishna, Sree Vaigundar, Hi-Tech, Morning Star, Vivekananda, NMS Kamaraj,Kamaraj Polytechnics from Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari district participated the event. Such events provide an opportunity for the students to demonstrate their learning experience. It perfects sets as a best example for Project Based Learning.

All the displayed projects were evaluated by the subject expertise and the best three projects were chosen based on Demo, Presentation, Application, Theme. The students were felicitated for their exemplary exhibits. Cash Prize of Rs.4000 was awarded with Certificates for the best project. After the feedback session, the event ended with vote of thanks and National Anthem

Department of   Science and Humanities celebrated its association day SAHAR 2020 from 3rd June `20 to 6th `20 through Zoom Cloud App.

With the blessings of the founder chairman Shri. K.  Neela Marthandan, Managing Director Dr. N.Neela Vishnu and Chief Financial Officer Dr Blessy Geo of RCET inaugurated this function. SAHAR convener Prof T.S Varatharajan delivered the welcome address, Our Principal Dr. R. Rajesh gave a presidential address. Dr. V.S Mathu Suresh, HOD, Science and Humanities gave a brief talk about the activities of SAHAR. Nearly 30 first year students presented papers on topics like Industries 5.0, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Sustainability. Prof M. Abima proposed vote of thanks.

           On the first day, Department of Mathematics organized two webinar sessions on the topics “Mathematical Models in Bio-Medical Applications” by the Resource Person Dr. D. Nagarajan, Prof /Head , Hindustan Institute of Technology and Technology and “Hands on Training session How to Generate E-Certificate” by Dr. N. Senthil Velmurugan, Asso. Prof/ RCET. More than 300 participants attended these sessions from all over India

           The following day Department of Physics conducted a webinar on the topic “Testing and Characterization of Materials” by Mr. G. Swaminathan, Research Scholar, IIT Madras.

On fifth June, Department of Chemistry celebrated “World Environment Day” along with the celebration of SAHAR. Environment Awareness Quiz was conducted through online, more than 500 participants answered these questions and got the E-Certificate. A special webinar was organized to celebrate Environment Day on the topic “Global Warming and Its Impact on the Society”. Chemistry faculty members also organized a webinar on “Biotransformation of Organic Compounds” by Dr. S. Nagarajan, Dean, Students’ Welfare, Central University of Tamil Nadu.

On the fourth day, English department faculty members organized a webinar on “The Pedagogical Innovations of 21st Century” by Dr. S. Sivasubramanian, former Vice Chancellor, Bharathiyar University. There was a great response from the faculty members, research scholars and students from various colleges and universities all over India and foreign countries .

S&H department also conducted E-Quiz on all the basic Science subjects, English and General Knowledge. There was an overwhelming response from our college students and from various colleges all over India and abroad. E-certificate was also given for the winners. Selfie Contest was also conducted under the theme “Home Garden” in the view to encourage the student to spend their quarantine fruitfully. This programme was excellently coordinated and organized by the faculty members of Science and Humanities

Department of Science and Humanities with the guidance from the management celebrated the National Science Day. National Science Day is celebrated in India each year to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian physicist Sir Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman on 28th February 1928. For his discovery, Sir C.V. Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930.

In our college the National Science day was celebrated in two sessions with the theme “Science for the People and People for Science”. In the first session, Quiz programme, Essay Competition, Speech Competition & Debates was conducted for the students to realize where they stood in the knowledge of Science and Technology and the second session began with the Tamilthai vazhthu. College Chairman Shri. K. Neela Marthandam, Vice Chairman Dr. N. Mohan Neela Judith, Managing Director Dr. N. Neela Vishnu, Pricipal Dr. R Rajesh, Heads of Various Departments and Chief Guest Prof. R. Selva Nathan, Head, Department of Physics, Vivekanada College, Kanyakumari graced the occasion.

To mark the divine presence the traditional lamp was lit by the dignitaries. Prof. Vetrivel gave an introduction about National Science Day and led the programme and welcomed the gathering. Our Principal Dr. R Rajesh delivered the presidential address. He inspired the students with his informative talk, which included the India’s achievements in Science. Then the chief guest Prof. R.Selva Nathan, Head, Department of Physics, Vivekanada College, Kanyakumari addressed the gathering. He enriched the students in various factors. He motivated them to work hard until their signature becomes as an autograph and to become a successful person in life just like the scientist of Indian Nation. He also emphasized the importance of Science in Human Life and gracefully insisted the students to apply the science in our daily life to lead a happy life. The guest was honred for his thought provoking speech and words.

Moreover, The prizes were distributed by the Principal and Chief Guest, The Management, Principal, the Head of the departments appreciated the event coordinator and congratulated the winners and the effort taken to urge the students to contribute to nation building through innovations in Science. Vote of thanks was delivered and the celebration ended with the National Anthem.
