After my schooling I was in search for a college that supports innovation, new technologies and idea rather than just academics and text books. My search started from Guwahati, my home toy and ended at RCET College, one of the best engineering colleges in nagercoil, southernmost location in India.

The college had a very jovial ambience. It was not like the usual Colleges where academics and labs were given importance. Rather they had a separate department for seminars and projects. They welcomed all the ideas from students and supported them to the limit. This was the main attraction for me. They never let down an idea saying that it is impossible. They had a motto that innovation comes from madness.

The college faculties were very polite. They used real life examples to teach us. It was not just teaching, they wanted to make us understand such that we never forget it. Every possible topic was connected to real life examples. This method was so impressive. I had seen my professor taking huge effort in preparing for each class.

The management view on innovation and technology was also worth mentioning. During the main project our managing director played a key role in discussing and helping us find new ideas. He is a man of great vision. This makes RCET grow to one of the best engineering colleges in nagercoil.

Me Hima Sanker from Cochin sharing my experience with Rohini College of engineering and technology

Sometimes life throws opportunities to us and it's very difficult to make a choice from it. But in other cases life gives us just one path. And you have no other choice but to follow that path. This was my case with Rohini College of engineering and technology. During that time I do not know much about the college and it was not a times where the Internet was so popular. So I couldn’t get to know much about the college. I have practically zero knowledge about the college when I went there. But it all changed as I saw the campus and as the days went on my opinion about the college was changing.

As I went there the first view of the college and the infrastructure really grabbed my attention. It has infrastructure of the top colleges in Cochin, which is my home town. Later, as days went on, I came to know that it’s not about the infrastructure I should be proud of, but about the facilities. RCET College recruits experienced and knowledgeable staffs they are polite and ready to provide a helping hand to the students. RCET - PROJECT EXPO 2020-A State Level Project Exhibition

A State Level Project Exhibition was organized by Rohini College of Engineering and Technology. Project Expo 2020 was organized with an objective of ‘encouraging the spirit of research and innovations in students.

The technical event was inaugurated by Honorable Chairman, Managing Director, Chief Financial Officer, Principal, Event Coordinator Prof.Jeyakumar, Head of the Dept- EEE and Programme Coordinator of Expo 2020. The presence of Head of the Departments, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff made the event bright. To give a traditional touch, Lamp Lighting session was done which added a spark to the event.

Respected Principal Dr.R.Rajesh delivered the presidential address. In his speech, he stated the importance of learning new technologies and tools for the students, shared his valuable knowledge among the students highlighting the importance of project making.”

The displayed were much innovative. Colleges like Govt.Polytechnic, Sree Krishna, Sree Vaigundar, Hi-Tech, Morning Star, Vivekananda, NMS Kamaraj,Kamaraj Polytechnics from Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari district participated the event. Such events provide an opportunity for the students to demonstrate their learning experience. It perfects sets as a best example for Project Based Learning.

All the displayed projects were evaluated by the subject expertise and the best three projects were chosen based on Demo, Presentation, Application, Theme. Dr. V.S Mathu Suresh, HOD, Science and Humanities gave a brief talk about the activities of SAHAR. Nearly 30 first year students presented papers on topics like Industries 5.0, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Sustainability. Prof M. Abima proposed vote of thanks.

More than 300 participants attended these sessions from all over India

           The following day Department of Physics conducted a webinar on the topic “Testing and Characterization of Materials” by Mr. G. Swaminathan, Research Scholar, IIT Madras.

On fifth June, Department of Chemistry celebrated “World Environment Day” along with the celebration of SAHAR. Environment Awareness Quiz was conducted through online, more than 500 participants answered these questions and got the E-Certificate. A special webinar was organized to celebrate Environment Day on the topic “Global Warming and Its Impact on the Society”. Chemistry faculty members also organized a webinar on “Biotransformation of Organic Compounds” by Dr. S. Nagarajan, Dean, Students’ Welfare, Central University of Tamil Nadu.

On the fourth day, English department faculty members organized a webinar on “The Pedagogical Innovations of 21st Century” by Dr. S. Sivasubramanian, former Vice Chancellor, Bharathiyar University. There was a great response from the faculty members, research scholars and students from various colleges and universities all over India and foreign countries .

S&H department also conducted E-Quiz on all the basic Science subjects, English and General Knowledge. There was an overwhelming response from our college students and from various colleges all over India and abroad. E-certificate was also given for the winners. Selfie Contest was also conducted under the theme “Home Garden” in the view to encourage the student to spend their quarantine fruitfully. This programme was excellently coordinated and organized by the faculty members of Science and Humanities
