ah. uh also as a note (which was not initially included in the rules as i thought this would stay p much in my own circles which i already curate), zoophiles, bigots, etc are not welcome here and will be blocked the next time i get to a computer

are characters that were only foxes (or fox-like in appearance) temporarily allowed? like because of a curse or something

yep! for example, someone submitted Hua Cheng from TGCF due to him being associated with a fox in some promo, merch, and advertisement art, but he doesn't have a fox form in the actual TGCF novel or donghua. This is allowed ! (in HC's specific case, I'm choosing to specify Fox Hua Cheng though, as its technically a canon AU.

If the character is fox associated in some canon works but not others, or if they're from a game with multiple skins and only one is fox related, please specify either in the name or source section. for example: Canon AU Name Character Name from Source Name, Character from Source Name [Book Only], or Skin Name: Character Name from Example Game)

And what about zoroark, delightful zoroark? Which zoroark should be included if they make the bracket?

Someone suggested ninetales, which brings up this question! If ninetales makes the bracket, which version should do so? Should more than one?

2. i've been thinking about it, and although redwall is an iconic series in animal fiction, personally i am uncomfortable with the characterization and stereotypes applied to the foxes within it. they coincide heavily with antiromani caricatures such as the fortune teller, and although not every fox within the series may be characterized as such, the introduction of two of the fox characters as stealing from a monastery feels like an intentional reference to the centuries of monastic chattel slavery romani people experienced within romania; it is very specific in that regard. because of this and the way these portrayals are presented as genuine representation, i am deciding not to include redwall characters for my personal comfort; if i found out years later that a character i was unfamiliar with but included bought into somehow even more stereotype than those characters i did see, it would definitely taint this experience, which is intended to be a fun lighthearted poll tournament!

the usage of antiromani stereotype and caricature is also something that has been in consideration about disney's robin hood; however, there is more room for consideration here in my opinion due to robin hood's position as a hero within the story, that the scene is brief in comparison to the work, and that it does not come across as a genuine attempt at saying this is a reality for a group of people iirc, though dressing up as a caricature of a race of people is. not good, as a baseline. due to this and the scene's transmisogynistic themes in addition, i am going to ask for opinions on his potential inclusion. i'd ask that only tma people weigh in on that aspect of the scene, and only romani/travellers/those of romani descent weigh in on the antiromani aspects of the scene; i am going to be doing more research into it as i have time as well.

3. based on the rate of submissions, im tentatively going to say submissions will be closing monday, february 27th! so make sure to get your submissions in before then!!! ^^

Bear (the animal) Poll

Hi everyone! I was inspired by people being confused that @bearpoll wasn't about literal bears. So I made this blog for voting on your favorite bear characters! Also inspired by @best-fictional-cat and @rabbitswag-competition.

Guidelines

Just to get it out of the way, this isn't a "sexyman" contest, so you can submit kids too.

Fictional bears only. So don't nominate a bear from a real life zoo or reserve or something.

Bears you can submit include anthros, ferals that talk, ferals that don't talk, teddy bears, etc. as long as it's clearly a bear. So don't submit a human with bear ears or a human with a bear motif. They don't count. If the human can transform into a bear or has a bear form, that's fine though.

Creatures/hybrids based on a bear are fine but the bear traits need to be obvious. If I look up your character and think "Where is the bear?", the character is ineligible.

You can submit different characters, but don't spam me with the same character multiple times to skew the results.
