The New Student

SUMMARY| Maria Rusalka finally arrives in the Melemele island of Alola region along with her Pokemons and is welcomed by her uncle and his students.

The cruise was sailing across the ocean towards the islands of Alola, there was Maria Rusalka accompanied by Zarude, Shiny Metagross, Lucario and Incineroar, the girl was moving to her uncle's house, who are her uncle? Well he is the Professor of the Pokemon School from the Melemele Island, Professor Kukui, after her parents' death which occurred while she was on one of her journeys, the court of law decided that she would move in with her godfather since she had no guardian and was still a minor.

" Is everything okay, Maria? You're a long way off since we got on the cruise "-Zarude spoke as he stopped beside the girl with Incineroar.

Zarude was a plant and dark type pokemon, he had been one of her first pokemons so he knew her very well and knew when there was something wrong.

" I'm fine, Zarude... just thinking about what awaits us in Melemele, I don't know if I'm ready for this new step in our life "-The girl replied and then sighed.

" In- incineroar! "-The fire and dark type pokemon spoke puffing out his chest as if to say 'No need to worry, we're here'

A small laugh left her lips-" Thanks Incineroar, well we better get back to the room, I need to pack my suitcase since we'll be arriving in a few hours "

The three pokemons agreed and then headed inside the cruise, going through the corridors and stores, they finally arrived in the elevator that took them to the floor where their room was located. Arriving at the bedroom floor, they went to room 345, using the card she unlocked the bedroom door and entered with Zarude, Lucario and Incineroar while Metagross he waited outside the cruise in the deck area.

Placing her suitcase on the bed, she started to pack her clothes and other items inside, she didn't have many belongings, only her clothes, notebooks, pen case and a polaroid camera. After zipping up her suitcase, she grabbed her utility belt and put it around her waist, taking her cell phone, she checked if there were any messages from her uncle but nothing.

A sigh left her lips-" It looks like he won't receive us at the port when we arrive "-She spoke to her pokemons.

Zarude rolled his eyes as Incineroar huffed, fuming from his snout.

That's when the captain's voice echoed through the cruise:

" Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your captain speaking, I am here to let you know that we are about to dock at the port, I recommend that you return to your rooms and pick up your belongings so that you can disembark "

" We better go, we don't want to be the last ones to disembark, right? "-She spoke smiling, the three pokemons agreed and with that she took her suitcase and thus left their room.

[ Earlier that day on Melemele Island... ]

Ash and his friends were at the pokemon school arguing about what they were going to do that day when Professor Kukui walked into the room, looking very excited.

" What happened Professor? You seem very excited "-Ash said to the man.

" My dear students, today we will receive my niece, she has moved to Melemele Island today and should arrive at the port this afternoon, so we will go to the port and I want you all to receive her very well as she will be a classmate of yours! "-Kukui said smiling.

" A new student! "-exclaimed Lana, clearly excited.

" How should she be? I bet she must be really cute! "-Mallow said at the blue haired girl.

" Oh Professor, what's her name? "-Lillie asked with curiosity as she held Snowy, her Alolan Vulpix.

" Her name is Maria Rusalka "-Kukui said.

" I can't wait to see her pokemons, does she like electric pokemons? "-Sophocles asked Ash who smiled.

" Me too, I bet she must be a strong trainer!- Oh professor, can you tell us a little about her? "- Ash asked the professor.

" Well, since she was twelve years old she soon became a Pokemon trainer and has traveled to several regions and also captured many pokemons that she takes along with her, she was also the Champion of the Hoenn region, she is one of the best trainers that I know- she is also a pokemon performer! "-The man spoke clearly proud of his niece.

Kiawe who was in the corner of the room with Turtonator, heard his classmates talking, he was curious to know who she was-" Professor, why is she moving to MeleMele? "-He asked curiously.

" Well... a few months ago she lost her parents, they were professors and worked with different types of pokemons but there was a mysterious accident where they ended up dying and leaving her orphaned, so the justice decided that she would be under my custody, for that she has to move to MeleMele. "-Kukui replied, clearly saddened as he remembered the loss of his sister and brother-in-law.

All students fell silent, seemed shaken by that information.

" This is so sad..."-Mallow spoke.

Lana nodded and then said-" I don't even know what it must be like to lose your parents...but it must probably be scary to feel so alone... "

" Let's put all this sadness aside! We need to go to the port to receive her! "-Professor Kukui said smiling and with that all the students followed behind him.

[ Back with Maria... ]

At the moment the boat docked in the harbor, Maria climbed over the huge Metagross along with the other three pokemons and with that the psychic and metal type pokemon flew and landed in the harbor well before the passengers disembarked.

Zarude took her suitcase and got off Metagross with Incineroar and Lucario, with that Lucario helped his trainer to get down from the huge pokemon so she wouldn't get hurt.

" Yeah, it looks like he didn't come at all "-Zarude said while using the vines around his wrists to fasten the suitcase on his back.

" Luca-lucario! "-The fighter and metal type pokemon spoke annoyed.

Incineroar simply growled as Metagross slammed a forepaw to the ground with a snap of gears.

" I think we'll have to do all the work to find his house on this island "-She sighed and with that they started to head towards the port exit.

It was clear that she drew the attention of many people present, especially because of the pokemons that accompanied her, however... what made people's eyes widen was the burn scars on both her arms.

When they got close to the gate, they soon came across Professor Kukui and his students, as soon as he saw them, shouted:

" ALOLA, WELCOME! "

The girl and her pokemons seemed slightly surprised-" Hah, I thought I'd have to do all the work alone to find your house "-She spoke, clearly sarcastically.

" You know i would never let that happen, Little star "-Kukui said smiling as he received her with a hug.

Maria shyly returned the hug and the moment they parted he asked, " How was your trip here? Without problem, I assume. "-He asked.

She agreed-" Everything was calm, I had a lot of fun with Zarude, Incineroar, Lucario and Metagross "-The girl spoke, pointing to the four pokemons behind her.

" Wow! Your Metagross is different and so big! "-Sophocles spoke while he and Togedemaru approached the huge pokemon behind her to try to examine it.

" H-huh, thank you? "-Maria spoke confused equally to her pokemon that seemed very confused.

" Guys, this is my niece, Maria Rusalka "-The man spoke introducing her and then continued-" Little Star these are my students "

" Hello I'm Ash and this is my friend Pikachu! "-The boy with Pikachu on his shoulder spoke. Ash wears a new outfit which is different than his previous outfits. He wears a white and blue striped short sleeved loose collared shirt, brown capris with red outlines with baggy pockets and red folded sleeves at the edge of his capris and shades of blue sneakers. His hat is red and black and the Poké Ball design is white. Ash wears a silver Z-Ring until it was later upgraded into a black Z-Power Ring.

" I'm Lillie and this is Snowy "-A blonde girl with green eyes with what looked like an ice variation Vulpix said, Lillie is a young girl with green eyes and platinum blond hair, with two braids at each side of her face. She wears a large white hat, with a blue ribbon around it. Lillie wears a white dress with transparent outlines, a pair of long socks and white shoes resembling ballet flats. She also carries a round bag with a Poké Ball design on both sides.

" I'm Sophocles and this is Togedemaru, nice to meet you! "-The boy examining her Metagross said, Sophocles is a short very fat boy, who has orange hair and green eyes. He wears a yellow scarf around his neck that resembles Pikachu's tail and a white T-shirt, with an orange design of a Game Boy Color painted on it. He also wears brown pants with a yellow outline and some green shoes with lightning design and blue soles. On his right side of the hips, Sophocles has a keychain with a miniature Electrode attached and a belt containing a badge around his waist. He also wears a yellow Z-Ring.

" I'm Mallow and this is Tsareena "-The green-haired girl spoke very excitedly, Mallow is a slender and slightly tall girl with tan skin, long green hair kept in two tree-shaped twintails, and light green eyes. Her most noticeable feature of her is the fake pink flower in her hair, which she holds in place with green vine-like straps. Clothing-wise, Mallow wears a pink tank top, light gray overalls with spiky white frills, a white clover-shaped mark on the waist, and a berry-storing pouch above the bust, and green and white shoes with small dark green bows. She also keeps a golden clover-shaped badge on her waist just above the white clover-shaped mark.

" I'm Lana and this is Popplio "-The blue haired girl greeted her Lana is a short and slender young girl with fair skin, blue eyes, and short blue hair, the latter in which she wears a yellow string headband that resembles a fishing net. She wears a short blue cape behind her back, a sleeveless white sailor shirt on top of a dark blue swimsuit with a blue fish decal in the middle of the chest, and long blue pants with a yellow string near the waist (from which hangs a badge shaped like her Trial Captain symbol) and blue Hawaiian wave patterns on the bottoms. On her feet, she wears darkly-colored rubber sandals that are too big for her. She is also often seen with a fishing rod.

It was when she noticed a dark skinned boy approaching her and he was accompanied by a pokemon that looked like a big orange turtle that she quickly realized it was a fire type pokemon, he then offered his hand to her-" I'm Kiawe and this is the Turtonator "-Kiawe is a muscular, dark-skinned young man. He has red and brown hair, in a style resembling fire. He wears red shorts with a black outline and sandals with the same color scheme. He wears on the shirt, though he does have some black cloth strips on his shoulders bound to his necklace, which has a small badge and feather decorations. In addition, he wears a red Z-Ring.

Maria shook his hand-' His hand is warm... '-She thought.

Turtonator out of pure curiosity seeing the burn scars on her arms approached her, but the panicked girl flinched and made Lucario get in front of her and growl at the other pokemon.

" Hey, hey, hey what's going on? "-Professor Kukui said.

" Sorry Kiawe, Uncle Kui... Lucario just thought Turtonator would do something "-She spoke while crossing her arms, running her fingers over her scars.

Professor Kukui quickly noticed that gesture-' Oh... the accident '

With that he put his hand on her shoulder and said-" It's alright Little Star, you can go ahead with Rotom, we're on our way "

Maria hesitantly followed behind the Rotom who started talking about the islands and her guardians as they walked, her pokemons then followed right behind her.

The moment she was far enough away, Professor Kukui spoke-" Kiawe please don't take this personally, it's just that Maria had an accident when she was younger, a fire-type pokemon attacked her inside her parents' lab and she generated a kind of trauma from that accident so that's why she got scared with Turtonator, actually she's scared of fire type pokemons in general "-He sighed.

" But she has an Incineroar "-The dark-skinned boy spoke as he had his arms crossed over his chest.

" He was a gift from me, Incineroar was just a Litten at the time, she has Incineroar since she was just a little girl, they literally grew up together so she's not afraid of him "-He explained.

" Oh, she's like Lillie when she was afraid to touch the pokemons "-Lana said.

Kukui nodded.

" So I ask you to be patient with her, she is not used to so much agitation and she may take some time for her to socialize with you, but I guarantee you will not regret it "-He said smiling.

With that the group went to where Maria was with Roton and her pokemons, the group had decided that the next day they would make a welcome party for her and that they would try to help her with the fear of fire-type pokemons.

As they walked back to school and were a good distance away from the girl and Roton, Mallow said:

" Professor, did she ever have any friends here in Alola? "

The man nodded and replied-" Yes she did, when she was younger she and her parents lived here in MeleMele, the two were inseparable, the girl's name was Inari, they were always seen together but like her, Inari moved to another region and they never saw each other again "

" She seems to be someone who doesn't like to socialize "- Lillie commented.

" Well... from what I know and from what she told me, she never had any companions during her journeys besides her pokemons so we can consider that she is someone who doesn't like to socialize "-Kukui said.

" But that will change! We will be the best friends she will have here in Alola! "-Sophocles spoke excitedly.

Kiawe remained silent, just watching the girl from afar, she appeared to be a serious and stoic figure, like a true warrior. He couldn't read her, especially given that melancholy aura around her.

" She hides, you see? Not because she wants to, but simply because that is what she has learned is the safest thing to do when she doesn't feel safe. Few people realize the trust and faith she must feel for her to show herself at all, so shy and fragile are her hopes and dreams, and too many times has she been ignored and abandoned. When emotions start rolling in her mind and fear allows the darkness to consume her, the little girl hides away and the strong, stoic woman protects her with reality and logic. Fiercely she will protect the little girl, for it the light of her very soul.... "

Maria Rusalka is a short girl with brown eyes and auburn hair, she has scars on her arms from an old accident with a fire type pokemon in her parents' laboratory.

Her hair is straight and most of the time it's down but every now and then it can be in a ponytail or a bun. Her uniform usually consisted of a black jumpsuit with a brown belt around the waist, black military boots and attached to her belt on the left and right side were two balls with the pokeballs and other pokemon items.

She is an INFJ someone with the Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Judging personality traits. They tend to approach life with deep thoughtfulness and imagination. Their inner vision, personal values, and a quiet, principled version of humanism guide them in all things.

Her parents died in an accident in the laboratory which left her orphaned so she had to go live with her uncle in Alola.

She has a trauma of fire-type Pokemons due to the incident in the lab, the only fire-type pokemon she has is Incineroar, he was a Litten who had been given by her uncle (he was actually an egg) so she is not afraid from him, he also serves as an emotional help pokemon.

She had to keep all the pokemons from her parents lab since they were the only ones they trusted so she has a lot of pokemons with her and takes turns so everyone can stay with her and stay out of the pokeball
