excuse me for stating the obvious but like. james gunn outright calling superman an immigrant and doubling down on it when he got backlash (because he IS an immigrant, that's the point of superman) + the in-movie dialogue of "aren't you going to read me my rights?" "you're an extraterrestrial, son. you haven't got any rights to read." + the violence of his arrest and how they torture and mistreat him unapologetically, all under the guise of "protecting america", in a film releasing during the onslaught of violent ICE kidnappings and abuse... yeah it's really no wonder right-wing knobheads are crying about this being woke. they're being forced to look directly at the reasons one of the most notorious heroes of all time would not be on their side. and that's only ONE of the reasons this movie covers

Watching Eliot fight in Leverage has ruined 80% of all other fight scenes for me, both in Leverage and in other shows. Something about the choreography, or the speed, or just the way all the hits sound like bricks on concrete. I can only think of a few shows that have choreography as realistic to a character’s training, with combat moves that HEY—are actually REAL and will cause actual DAMAGE, but even then the blows don’t seem as frickin raw, and even rarer is a fight where it actually looks like they’re moving fast enough to spell an intent to get past their opponents defences.

Claudia had a small grudge against Eddie, not because of any of the satanism or murder allegations, God no she knows those are all false, baseless lies the grudge she holds he from when he came over to pick something up/ drop something off/ hang out with Dustin and Steve had been over helping with the yard work and the first words out of his mouth were
"what the hell are you doing here Harrington?"
She watched years of attempting to get steve to accept he was her son, of getting him to accept check ins and food to coming over to dinner to even staying over some gone in an instant

keep thinking about those screenshots of buck's house after bobby died. no flowers. no one sent him flowers because it wasn't his dad who died, not really. just like chris leaving wasn't his son leaving, not really. eddie going to texas wasn't his partner leaving, not really. buck occupies all of these spaces unofficially and he knows who he is to them but when they leave he's always, always left with nothing. again. most important relationships of his life and he's empty-handed and wondering if he'd imagined it all in the first place.

final TOG 2 thoughts: there is a much better movie in there somewhere that strips the first immortal / last immortal concept out entirely and allows Quynh to be the big bad. Quynh wanting her immortality to end after centuries of repeated awful dying contrasting w/ Booker (who she's kidnapped and does not immediately release) slowly coming to the realization that he *does* have family to live for and that there's good shit out there in the world if he's willing to look for it. Quynh being convinced that Nile has the power to end her immortality bc she thinks Nile took away Andy's. Quynh trying to box Nile into a corner to do what Quynh wants by threatening Nile's mortal family. Nile having to face her mortal family after letting them believe she's dead, having to let the life & family she's left behind and the life & family she's chosen come together.
and then on the final showdown, Nile and Andy facing off against Quynh together. Quynh deals Andy a mortal wound; Nile deals Quynh one. Quynh still heals. it turns out her obsession with Nile was always wrong; Andy lost her immortality because she stopped *believing* in the life she was living. Quynh in angry hateful tears begging a dying Andy to come back, it's Quynh who's supposed to be dying. Andy quipping, "I always go first" and then dying
and then if you want a happy ending: Andy coming back after. Andy regaining her immortality *because* she cherishes her life and believes in what she does and isn't ready to end yet. Andy and Nile bringing Quynh back into the fold. Andy and Nile and Quynh and Booker and Nicky and Joe *healing* together
do you see my vision

Joe and Nicky, a love spanning a millennium:
"It's like destiny."
"He's the moon when I'm lost in darkness and warmth when I shiver in cold."
"I know your heart, and that is immortal."
