Hello! I was wondering how long the research for your big Gravity Falls video took? Even with all the resources it must have taken ages…

Just the research part? Roughly a month. The cryptograms in the show are pretty well documented in places like the fan wiki. It was all the other side stuff that took the most time.

The hardest part was the flash games. Trying to verify that all the codes I’d heard about were 1) real and 2) accurate by playing them on a buggy flash emulator was a nightmare. You can see editor-me having a mini tantrum in that part of the video as I was trying to get the right clips.
