Why Diabolik Lovers?

🐻like many, I watched the diabolik lovers ironically after being distraught with vampire knight .. oops well here we are

🐇found out about otome games and started playing HDB

🐻was shocked to say the least, HUGE difference from that shit show of an anime I was intrigued by the psychological horror aspect + hawt jerks who are we kidding

Yui's endurement living with Sakamaki's/Mukami's/Tsukinami's/Kino

To understand about Yui's situation, we have to take some criterias in consideration and that her fate couldn't be changed, no matter the outcome.

So in that analysis, I will take some factors around Yui and then to the topic.

Sacrificial Bride and having Cordelia's heart

The one factor that could had being avoided, but we all know that there was one problem: Cordelia's heart. That demonic heart that doesn't alow Yui's fate to be changed, no matter what she want to do with her life

We can easly blame on two specific vampires: Richter (the one responsable to put Cordelia's heart inside of Yui's body) and Karlheinz (the masterminder of Adam and Eve project).

Living with Seiji Komori, the priest

Another factor has to be on her adoptive father, Seiji. Yui might lived alone for the most of her life, which that expains why she acts like she didn't had any role model to look up to.

Might Yui thought that she will go to live by herself and leaving anything behind her when she will be 18. Yui never exepected to be sent to Sakamaki Mansion and leaving with them. Never expecting that vampires are actualy real.

The endurement

In the first game (Hunted Dark Bridal) and season 1 of anime, Yui was sent to live with Sakamaki brothers, not even knowing that they are Do-S vampires and could be cruel to her. Yui was forced to be live in this ever ending circle of constant punishments, blood drinking, harassment, insults etc.

Even in MORE, BLOOD amd season 2 shows the exact same thing happen, but is more like who is going to have Yui instead and some kidnapping stuff. If I had to say one thing that Sakamaki's and Mukami's hand in comon is that they want to became Adam, to make Yui their Eve. The second being to became more powerful and to rule Makai.

The same thing could be said even in Dark fate: another family add. In Tsukunami's case is to try to force Yui to carry many Founder children as soon as possible and even tortured her worst then other two families combinate.

Kino also shows a huge ego (similar with Ayato) and at first disrespected Yui, expecting that everyone to do for him (I'm sory but I'm not that familiar with Kino).

Yui was disrespected by those boys and yet, she treated them with kindness. The boys fall in love with her despite what they did to her makes me feel (some moments) unconfortable. If I had to chose which family could be considetate normal is imposible. Why? Because the way they treated Yui, but also they had their own trauma which let them intro that path.

Yui has her owns trauma and yet, she doesn't let that anger to comsume her and define her nature. The boys have their own trauma and pass those down to Yui, to make her suffer without an explanation is why they do this to her. Two sides in the the same coin.

The hate from fans

I feel that hate that Yui had from fans years ago is so wrong. Just because they say "Yui is annoying" or "Yui is a pick me girl". STFU and put yourself in her shoes and then regret later for your words!

I will protect Yui until my last breath because she deserved better then those boys!

Yui did nothing wrong. She is a girl that wants to be loved. She fate was sealed since from the beganing (her birth), was neglected by Seiji, sent to Sakamaki Mansion, she endured that pain from all fronts. All because of Karlheinz's stupid exepriment

Another interesting thing to consider about Shu is this moment between him and Yui from one of Ruki’s bad LE endings:

Instead of killing her after he killed the Mukami, Kino decided to spare her life but cruelly take away her voice (which is ironic bc she’s not voiced in the game). Anyways, in the end, Yui decided to watch over Eden as it slowly dies. 

Shu, as the Vampire King, approaches her. He tells her that he and the other vampires disposed of Kino. Then he asks her:

Shu: Well then, you didn’t change your mind about remaining here alone?  

Yui told the Sakamaki sometime prior that she wanted to stay by herself in Eden. And going by Shu’s line, it sounds as if he’s asking her if she reconsidered.

Yui: Uh………… (remember Kino took away her voice)

Shu: [smiles] You don’t have to force yourself to talk. I’ll regularly send you familiars so let us know if something happens.

He wants to keep regular correspondence, even though it is just Yui who is left in Eden. (Edited due to translation notes.)

This can be interpreted as familiar or business-like, but then Yui SMILES! She smiles after he told her he’ll keep in touch:

Shu, were you worried she would be lonesome

Shu: ……It’s really disconcerting to see you, who were always so loud, being quiet like this. Get well soon.

Even though this isn’t his route, Shu shows that he is observant enough to note how Yui usually behaves. And even though they are acquaintances, he still wishes her to get well soon.  

Yui: (……Thank you, Shu-san.)

Shu is so honorable because you know if it was Ayato or Laito they would have tried something >.>

RAHHHH I NEED TO TALK ABOUT AYATO RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!

When Ayato thought that Yui was cheating on him (Yui was avoiding and hiding from him because she wanted to buy presents and make him a fun party surprise. But Laito caught her as she walked back and bit her, making Ayato question abt where she was, she didn't say anything cause of the birthday) So Ayato bit her extremely hard, making it hurt. BUT NOT ENOUGH TO PASS OUT OR KILL HER!!!!! THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!!

In the end, after that he just avoided her until he caught her AGAIN having her blood sucked and when Yui tried to apologize without explaining, he just started walking away, and when yui ran over to try to explain and did that by touching his arm, he pushed her, screaming not to touch him and when Yui fell, he FELT BAD but hid it by running off and just avoiding her

AND THEN. When Yui bit her own finger to prove that she forever belongs to Ayato he ran over, licked her finger, BECAUSE HE WAS WORRIED ABOUT HER!!!1!1!1!!

Shū Being Socially Awkward

🎻Shū may come off as nonchalant, but he’s actually quite socially awkward (even stated by Yui+ Reiji) Yuma tries to give him a fist bump but Shū genuinely doesn’t know what it is and stands there like “huh?🧍🏼”

This could be due to his lack of socializing during childhood and his self-isolation as he got older. (aww)

Yuma: There ya have it, so just leave this to me. Come on...

Shuu: ...What?

Yuma: Haah? Ya don't know 'bout this? Ya gotta bump your fist 'gainst mine! God, these rich kids, I swear.

Shuu: ...Shut up.

Ruki and Kou sat opposite each other with their microphones in front of their faces. Ruki had prepared and researched for this podcast session for weeks and now he was finally ready to make an insightful point about the true nature of men and women and their roles in society.

He had invited Kou to his podcast for support, not that he needed support. That kind of thing was for the emotionally weak, in other words women.

This was also part of Ruki's business strategy. Kou was a popular and famous idol and his presence would surely ensure that his podcast would become influential, successful and famous in a matter of days with the maximum amount of views. It would be an instant hit.

Everthing was planned strategically. Ruki was ready to finally reveal the truth.

"Heya! This is your beloved idol, Kou Mukami, here with my brother Ruki Mukami. This is the podcast that you have all waited for with bated breaths and it wil talk about gender roles in today's modern society and much more. So Ruki, what is your view on the modern society and the gender roles of men and women?"

"There is, of course, much that is needed to be said Kou, however I will start by reciting this insightful quote by a well respected philosopher, Aristotle, that pretty much sums up most of the matter. "..it is naturally with the male and the female; the one is superior, the other inferior; the one governs,the other is governed; and the same rule must necessarily hold good with respect to all mankind." I would also add something to this, women are naturally inferior to men, they are like livestock to us, we as the physically stronger and thus more dominant and superior sex have more power while women have none. This clearly shows us that the modern view that both genders deserve to be equal is illogical and does not take into account human nature. Women are born to be slaves to us and serve us as Livestock. As they are the inferior beings."

"FACTS," Kou replied enthusiastically. Then for good measure, said it again,"FACTS!"

As Kou says this, Kou's PR team stare with horror and facepalm themselves.

"Yes. It is indeed a fact. Women have proven themselves as more emotional and also logically and morally weak. They cannot be trusted to govern themselves and it is a dangerous notion to be giving them this choice in the first place. They are untrustworthy, deceitful and manipulative. That is their nature. Thus it is the responsibility of you as a man to be her master. To own and govern her."

"PERIOD."Kou said with determination.

"Yes, and to further solidify my point I would like to state that men are also much better off without women. Men do not need to waste their time chasing after these livestock. Livestock will come to us by themselves as they need us to survive and we do not need them at all. I, for one, have not chased a woman in over a decade and now every woman I see around me constantly tries to gain my attention. Whenever I go outside all I see are women that wear revealing clothing to get my attention however I have ignored them as I am far happier all alone by myself. It is, of course, a personal choice."

The author highly doubts that statement.

"So true, Ruki." Kou replies, nodding his head vigorously.

Kou's PR team facepalm themselves harder.

Kou and Ruki release the podcast which Ruki undoubtedly knows will be a hit and sell well. After all, who wouldn't want to know the truth.

A few days afterwards Ruki and Kou find out that the podcast sales have dropped to zero. Literally ZERO. Ruki feels shocked at the news. How?

And not only that but him and Kou had received extreme backlash for 'misogyny and sexism' as well as 'incel behaviour'. A popular comment on social media called Ruki 'b*tchless' and the podcast 'an insult to intelligence'.

Kou was having a mental breakdown because his public reputation had gotten a major hit with a lot of disappointed and angry fangirls. His PR team worked overtime for damage control.

Ruki felt extremely humiliated but he tried to hide it. He also couldn't believe that people had found out his secret. It is safe to say that he didn't try to reveal any of his 'controversial' opinions again.
