billie’s lips curled into a slow, teasing smile. “the deputy… needing me to save the day? now that’s not something you see every day,” she mused, her fingers lightly tracing the rim of her cup, almost as if she were weighing the situation.
she leaned in just enough to get his attention, her voice dipping into something playful, laced with a bit of a challenge. "tell you what, i’ll step in and save the day tonight," she said, her eyes locking onto his for a brief moment. "i’ll even let you take all the credit, sir."
then, with a grin, she added, “but… i’ll be needing a favour in return. maybe one of those ‘get-out-of-jail-free cards’ you’ve got stashed away for a rainy day.” she lifted her cup, her smile mischievous, offering a playful wink. “so, what do you say? deal… or should i just leave you to wrestle with that disaster on your own?”
open to all. colony house party.
Adam was neither high nor drunk enough to process the conversation in his right ear, so he nodded politely, sipping on cheap booze and scooting away inch by inch trying not to be noticed. As. a last resort he turned to the person to his left, adamant not to lose his hard-earned seat at the couch (secured by arriving entirely too early) and pleased. "Please talk about something, anything at fucking all before I knock this dude out --"

PLOT DROP 02.
The darkness creeps in the air, a sensation of impeding doom following the massacre that rolled in with the storm. There is a growing need now amongst the residents of Oblitus, a need for hope, for ease, for laughter. And what better way to aspire for all, than to attend the annual Halloween party at Colony House. And while the party will, no doubt, be different this year, with more new faces, louder atmosphere to drown out the screeches from the outside, it is sure to bring on some much needed relief. So take out your finest garments, your tastiest treats and head over to Colony House before the night rolls in. Oh and do make sure not to open the door for any trick-or-treaters....for you might just end up a treat.
OOC: Welcome to our second plot drop and the most fun party Oblitus can get!
Note to all: Halloween Party is an old tradition dating back for as long as the residents can remember. Every year, the whole town gathers at the Colony House to enjoy the night of music, games and laughter. It is a tradition reserved to mock the town and its many horrors, while also ensuring everyone is safe and sound and most importantly -- not alone. During this night, the monsters that usually roam the town are unable to assume their human form, so they are seen around in their real form, and their powers of allure and persuasion are at an all-time-high. This is why, in preparation for the party, the windows are blacked out entirely, and residents are forbidden from peaking through.
Our Halloween event will be taking place from Friday, November 1st (6pm EST) through to following Tuesday, November 5th.
We encourage everyone to put their current threads on pause during the event!
Please tag the starters 'starter.oblitus' and post them in a designated discord server.
Give this post a like so we know you have seen it <33 happy roleplaying !!

billie cracked the door open, spotting daehyun and the papers in his hand. “hey,” she said, leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed. “what’s with the papers? if this is an intervention, i promise i’m fine… mostly.” she gave him a playful grin, raising an eyebrow. she nudged the door open a bit wider, just enough to leave the next move up to him.

making a house call to ensure someone was doing okay after all that had happened wasn't rare for daehyun. even though he was still feeling quite upset over everything that had happened, it didn't mean he couldn't ensure the newcomers he had housed during the storm were okay. with a light knock at the door, daehyun stepped back, clutching a couple of carefully rolled up papers in hand as he hoped at least one of the siblings were home.

the sound of the lock sliding into place barely cut through the thud of her heartbeat in her ears. it took a few moments for his question to sink in.
" are we okay? " billie repeated, as if she couldn’t quite grasp the answer herself. her eyes locked on the figure hovering by the door and her body instinctively moved back, crawling away from the fragile barrier of wood. the absurdity of relying on something so breakable to keep them alive wasn’t lost on her. her gaze flickered between the frightened child and the man, the words she wanted to say and the questions she wanted to ask tangled up in her throat. she swallowed her own fear, forcing a smile for the kid.
" we’re okay, “ she said, trying to sound reassuring even though she wasn’t sure she believed it herself. her own fear, for a moment, tucked itself away as she focused on offering comfort to the small figure in front of her.
“ we’re safe in here, yeah? your daddy’s gonna keep us safe, right? ” billie said softly, her voice gentle as she met the child's eyes. her gaze flickered up to the man, seeking his confirmation, hoping for something in his expression to reassure not just his child but herself too.
" i’m billie, ” she added, her gaze shifting between the girl and the man. “ what’s your name? ” the question was directed at the little one, but in reality, it was her way of also introducing herself to the man.
a formal introduction didn't quite fit the tension of the moment.
with the two newcomers safely inside, daehyun kept a hand pressed against the door. what was going on? he didn't have the answer. this place didn't enjoy giving much for answers at any moment. and now, with the abnormal onslaught of rain and the appearance of those damned creatures during the day? daehyun was baffled as he held his now crying toddler on his hip. " i--i don't know, " he stammered, swallowing the lump in his throat as he forced himself to pull it together--for both his family and the new kids in town. stepping away from the door, daehyun moved quickly, rushing to pull the curtains and blinds down. " they've never come out during the day like this. " the words were quiet as he moved around the living room, ensuring everything was closed and sealed off before he finally stopped. " you two okay? " he questioned, looking between his two guests and whispering comforting words in the ear of his very confused and upset child.

“ funeral? ” she repeated, a little unsure, like maybe she’d misheard. her mind scrambled to piece together who cherry was talking about. truth was, billie didn't even know any of their names. “ i didn’t know any of them, ” she admitted, glancing around the diner, feeling the weight of the town’s curse pressing down on her shoulders.
“ but… you knew that. ” billie’s eyes flicked back, softening a bit as she asked, “ is it normal here? to go to a funeral for someone you’ve never met? ” she wasn’t trying to be dismissive—she was genuinely confused by the way things worked in this cursed town.
where she came from, funerals were personal, private.
here, from cherry's question, it felt more like an unspoken duty to show up, no matter how distant.
STATUS : closed for @billiejene ! LOCATION : outside of benny's diner !
" YOU GOIN' TO THE FUNERAL ?" the question is almost conversationally murmured around a cigarette as cherry lights it . she looks to billie with an arch of her brow as she inhales long and deep, her cheeks hollowing with it . cherry blows out smoke before adding, " tryna take a headcount and see how many people are actually plannin' on goin' ... " the only one who cherry kinda knew in the count of bodies was kina, and to be frank, she didn't even know her all that well . she taps ash off the cigarette . " so you can be honest if you're gonna skip ." her brows arch . " i won't tell ."

“ stop! ” she barked, her hand shooting out to grab her brother's arm. her grip was tight as if she could pull him back with sheer force alone. his steps faltered, but the defiance in his eyes remained, frustration mingling with disbelief as he yanked against her hold.
“ let go, billie! there’s nothing out there— ” he started, but his words were cut off by a sound, distant but unmistakable. billie's heart pounded in her chest as she turned, her breath catching. there, standing just beyond the road, a figure appeared—a grin stretched unnaturally wide, splitting the figure's face from ear to ear. it's voice was soft as though it was trying to calm them. but it wasn’t calming. her blood turned cold, a shiver running down her spine. she didn’t know how she knew, but she knew. this wasn’t human.
“ i thought they could only come out at night? ” she whispered, he panic in his eyes matched her own. he knew too. there wasn’t time to think, only to act. billie’s instincts kicked in, adrenaline flooding her system as she tugged her brother harder, pulling him away from the road, away from whatever that thing was. “ come on! ” she urged, her voice low but firm, every muscle in her body screaming to move, to get away.
she yanked him toward the nearest house, nearly knocking him off-balance as she shoved him inside. her eyes darted back to the street just in time to see someone—vulnerable, surrounded. her breath hitched. the figure before them contorted, twisting grotesquely into something inhuman, and before she could even scream, it lunged. billie’s stomach twisted violently, her heart sinking—another life lost, another name added to the list of people she couldn’t save.
with her legs shaky, she stumbled into the house after her brother, nearly collapsing against the door as she slammed it shut behind her. " what is going on ? "
location: kang household open: 0/3
it all happened so quickly. one moment, daehyun and his daughter were simply enjoying time out on the porch before the rain began to pour. it wasn't unusual to get rain every so often, but this storm in particular was very unnerving. the dark clouds that had rolled in had daehyun rising to his feet--and then he saw t h e m in the tree line. with color drained from his face and the lunch he had eaten only a short while ago churning in his stomach, the teacher snatched three-year old bella up in his arms without a second thought. " get inside! " he yelled out, directed mostly at the person passing by on the worn sidewalk. " come on! " he called again as he carried the toddler inside, looking back out from the open door to ensure the other was close behind. if they didn't get up on the front porch in a few moments, daehyun already knew he'd be locking the door without them inside. thankfully, it was but a second or two later that he was able to shut the door securely behind the other, latching the lock and ensuring the amulet was securely attached to the wall beside the doorframe.

| HAN SOHEE, SHE/HER | Welcome to the crossroads, KANG BITNA (BILLIE). Another lost soul that stumbled across a fallen tree in their path. They appear to be THIRTY years old, but it’s hard to tell. The town bares no resemblance to NEW YORK CITY, are you sure we can trust them? Seeing as they ended up here because, SHE REALLY NEEDED TO USE THE BATHROOM ON THE WAY TO CINCINNATI, OHIO. They definitely weren’t looking to end up here. Now they’ll have to rely on being COURAGEOUS to survive. Hopefully their STUBBORNNESS doesn’t get in the way of that. I guess if we’re going to pass the time tonight, might as well request GIRLS LIKE ME DON'T CRY by THỦY. Oh, and one more thing, your new role here will be WAITRESS. We’ll be sending out welcoming party over to the RESIDENTIAL. Welcome to Oblitus, the only thing you have to remember, when the sun sets– don’t open the door.

she is chaos disguised as calm, though her touch more like rainfall after a california drought than an actual storm. a paradox of hard stares and soft smiles—a saviour that hurts herself before she’ll hurt anyone else. she looks like something out of a faded photograph—muted colours and worn edges, like the world has tried to erase her but couldn’t quite manage. her makeup is minimal, just enough to accentuate the intensity of her gaze, her lips stained with muted reds like dried blood. tattoos snake along her skin like secrets she’s never going to share—inked reminders of who she was before the world started to break her.

brother (close family/protective bond)
billie's brother (younger or twin) is her rock within the chaos of the town. their relationship is one of love and playfulness, they tease each other relentlessly to the point where their parents always thought that they were fighting. she's got an overbearing need to protect him and he's starting to push back-- wanting to assert his independence even though he is a little bit helpless. billie has a tendency to overstep sometimes which results in heated arguments.
ghost from the past (old acquantaince/unfinished business)
someone billie knew from her life in nyc -- an old friend, coworker, or even someone she saved. their presence reminds her of who she was before stumbling into this town. i would like this person to be like a mirror for billie. dynamics: are they grateful that billie saved their life? or are they bitter and resentful that they survived and are forced to live in this town instead?
the one who dislikes her brother (town rivalry/hidden conflict)
someone who has a problem with billie's brother (either because of a misunderstanding or an actual incident) and is holding a grudge against him. billie is on alert whenever they're around. potentially, this person could try to provoke billie into putting herself and her brother at risk.
the medic (colleague/professional bond)
another medical professional in town who shares a similar background. there is respect between them but an unspoken competition over who's truly in control. they could become allies or rivals.
nsfw: a one-night stand (resentment or regret)
a steamy encounter that neither of them expected maybe during one of billie's weaker moments to feel something. or an impulsive decision after a heated argument.
nsfw: the toxic ex (love-hate relationship)
they dated before the town and now they're finding each other here once again. they're bad for each other but the connection is too strong to ignore.
nsfw: the fwb (no strings attached)
they made a deal to keep things casual, just an arrangement to blow off steam. maybe one of them might be catching feelings? or maybe they are both fighting jealousy when someone else comes into the picture.
nsfw: 'i shouldn't want you' (forbidden lust)
think, stolen touches, constant fighting, undeniable attraction.
nsfw: dangerous obsession
someone that is obsessed with billie; she seems unbreakable and maybe they want her to break. maybe billie saved them once and they are fascinated by her fire.

WHERE WAS YOUR CHARACTER WHEN THEY SAW THE TREE AND THE MURDER OF CROWS? WHERE WERE THEY GOING? WERE THEY TRAVELLING ALONE? HOW DID THEY FEEL?
billie was on a mission to relocate her younger brother from new york city to ohio in a u-haul truck when they stumbled upon the town. her brother, a fully functional adult (questionable), could not drive-- hence, billie was stuck behind the wheel. to be honest, she'd spent most of her trip teasing him about his bad driving. they stumbled upon the tree when she took a quick detour to find a restroom.. and now there was no escape. it was when their first night ended that billie realized she might have to hear for the rest of her life how they got trapped here because she just couldn't hold it in for a few miles.
DESCRIBE YOUR CHARACTERS FIRST DAY/NIGHT IN TOWN. DID THEY ARRIVE IN THE DAYTIME? WERE THEY WARNED BY THE RESIDENTS? DID THEY HAVE TO BE RESTRAINED?
billie's first day/night in town would start out like a chaotic blur of confusion, frustration and lots of bickering with her little brother. the detour was meant to be quick but instead of a bathroom, they would stumble upon the tree. the endless loop of the roads returning them to the same point along with her brother's comments would test billie's patience. the tension building so much that she would believe racing through the town, trying to outrun whatever strange force kept pulling them back to the start would help. but of course, there was no escape. finally, in desperation and anger, she would stop the truck. the air around them tense as they had no choice now but to leave the car and interact with the people that glanced at them with.. pity? or a similar emotion to that. billie had spent years as a paramedic in new york city. she knew how to assess chaos and manage an emergency. but as the townspeople crowded around them, eyes wary, trying to be helpful-- pulling her and her brother apart to feed them warnings of what lurked about at night, her confidence would falter. every bit of this situation felt wrong.. it wasn't a crisis that she could bandage, treat and send on it's way. these people.. they were traumatized by whatever thing they were speaking of and even though she didn't believe a single word.. something in their eyes told her to listen them. she convinced her brother that just for tonight, they would listen. they would follow instructions and tomorrow morning they would try to leave again. when darkness swallowed the town, as promised, billie and her brother listened. every door and window was locked shut. this wasn't a situation that she could assess rationally but that didn't stop her from trying. she tried her best to calm her brother, tried to convince him and herself that they would figure this out together. but the scratching at the window, the temptation to open the blinds-- the voices calling out to them to open the door and let them in.. made every logical thought slip through her fingers. for the first time, billie feared that her skills as a trained paramedic might not even be enough to keep them alive..
WHAT DID THEY LEAVE BEHIND? WHAT WAS THEIR LIFE LIKE ON THE OUTSIDE?
billie lived a fast-paced demanding life in new york city as a paramedic. her days were chaotic but purposeful. despite thriving in her career, the emotional weight of saving lives—and sometimes losing them—took its toll on her mental health. her family never understood why she chose such a grueling career path and always urged her to consider a safer and more stable profession but billie was nothing if she wasn't stubborn. she is determined to prove she can handle it all. the one person she always prioritizes in her life is her life is her little brother. billie has never had a long-lasting relationship and new york was partly to blame for that. it seemed like no matter who she let into her life, there was always a hidden agenda. her relationships were passionate but brief, burning out as quickly as they started. her last relationship ended just before her stumbling into town. she had discovered her boyfriend cheating on her with her best friend of seven years. the betrayal cut deeper than she expected, she was used to her love interests betraying her but her best friend? it was a little too much. her brother's move became the perfect excuse to leave everyone behind. the drive wasn't just about helping him, it was about escaping the people that had shattered her trust. now, trapped in the town, she's left dealing with more than just the memories she tried to outrun.
