While I can't find it anymore, I found a post on here (that I rebloged) talking about using red lights for street lights as they are 'safe' for bats.
I don't know if this was a joke that I ignorantly took seriously, or if people really do think this.
I'm here to say PLEASE DON'T. This Tumblr post lead me to use bat protection as my topic for a college paper. While I am no expert, through my research I have found that red lights are actually BAD for bats and attract the little ones, causing disorientation, improper migration, and collisions with lampposts. BAD! Do not add red lights for bat protection without first doing research on your local species! Because while I do believe they are safe for a few, the vast majority they ARE NOT!
Warm lighting however is usually safe! Or safer anyway. Yes Ik red is a warm color... Does not make it a warm light. You want specifically warm-white light I believe.
Thank you!

☁️Nothing to see here, just a cluster of Honduran white bats (Ectophylla alba)!
🦇This critter hides from foes by roosting beneath self-made tree tents that it builds by cutting a leaf along the midrib so that the sides fold down to create cover. When sunlight hits the foliage, it casts a green tinge on the bat’s white fur, allowing it to better blend in with its surroundings. Leaves with a waxy surface are preferred because they provide an added layer of waterproof protection.

Silver haired bats migrate in September and October, in very large numbers. often joined by other bat species such as red bats and hoary bats!
they are found throughout the united states (but not Florida) and up to southern Canada. They don’t usually go far enough north to reach Alaska. they are also found southward into Mexico!
Silver haired bats live up to 12 years, sometimes longer. They can be 8-12 grams in weight and 9-11.5 cm in length!
like most bats the silver-haired bat is insectivorous, but known to prefer small, soft-bodied species that swarm in groups, such as flies, moths, and mosquitoes.
if you happen to live in their areas of habitation, make sure to wave hello at dusk or dawn to our amazing flying friends!
