It's been a while since I put anything up because honestly I burnt out. The art class that I was taking turned out to be a real disappointment, and a waste of hard earned money... Which is the thing I hate the most in the world. I was really thinking that this was it, I would take this class and it is solidify what I wanted to do with the rest of my life... But now I am not so sure. I love art. I love being creative. But I fear doing it for a job, or wasting money on a degree that will get me no where. It crippled my ability to create anything. I had artists block. I finally got some inspiration to draw last night. As per usual it came on in a wave at about midnight. I finished two sketches, so here is one of them. Let's hope this is me coming out of this block. Magpie and phlox. Exausted. Long day, but we did portraits from a model. I had missed last class which was the teaching part of portrait so I just jumped right in not knowing what the technique was. One more post after this and I am done the #review of the January scrawlrbox. Sakura #Pigma Micron in 01 was a great fine liner pen, and right when mine was starting to loose pigment. Super fine, good pigment, good flow. 10/10 will use again. About $5 here in Canada. The paper was Canaletto 160gsm Liscia. It was a great weight, had a fine tooth and worked nicely for these supplies. I think I would enjoy drawing on this paper regularly. 10/10 would buy again for marker. It was hard to price this, as it is not a standard size. Part one of the January #scrawlrbox #artsupplies #review. I meant to do this a while ago, but I certainly want to do it before the next box is here in a few days. So I will post a few thoughts over the next few days. First up is the Faber-Castell 9000 Pencil. One of the smoothest pencils I have ever worked with. This one was 2H and normally I hate working with those pencils because they scratch the paper up, but this was a-ok. 10/10 would buy again. They seem to go for about $1.90, but I could only find them in a set of 12 or up. Sakura Pigma Black brush pen was a really good stiff brush compared to the brush pens I have been using. Pretty good pigment, but ink flow didn't like a fast pace. I must admit I like my Faber-Castell brush pen a tad more for flow and I just like the softer brush personally. 5/10 might buy again, needs more testing.
