holy shit
I have so many disconnected thoughts about dandadan and gender- it’s just so chock full of brilliant allegory. Haven’t read the manga and don’t want spoilers but the anime has been so good
Aliens and ghosts as the ways that patriarchy hurts men and women respectively. Once Okarun and Momo experience this first hand, they understand eachother better.
Okarun essentially being emasculated by the representation of rage stemming from older women who want to protect women who are victims of assault. Through understanding this rage, he finds a power that he uses to protect Momo. Through all of this emasculation he finds stronger connections and a sturdier sense of self.
His want for masculinity isn’t inherently in opposition to understanding the women around him, but he must first work closely with women to find it.
The way Momo is made to feel ashamed of her grandmother’s supernatural practices. The complicated feelings of being embarrassed but also pissed that people were insulting her grandmother. Something something the way that society encourages women of different age groups to be alienated from one another.
The way that Momo finds her power in accepting and understanding her grandmother. The way she chooses to use it so protect and uplift herself and those around her.
The fact that Momo and her friends are all Gyaru. So unapologetically confident, loud and themselves, despite the way that it can cause issues for them socially.
Idk I just have a lot of feelings rn

"Autism traits that are actually advantages-" Hey guys did you know that the problem with eugenics and ableism is the act of assigning different degrees of worth and moral value to different people and abilities and not that we were simply attacking the "wrong" group?

Guys I love the substack writer industrial complex. I do in fact want to hear every girls musings or observations on society or cannibalism or girlhood. I dont care that girlwriter is an oversaturated field of interest and identity. I DONT CARE BECAUSE ITS SO TRUE. And because every 20-30 years when women as a collective find a field of interest to harbor community in. Some column or person on twitter tells them that the thing that brings them together and keeps them sane in this society is "overused" and is contributing to the "loss of individualism in this country". People just hate to see women do anything. Keep writing your poems thirteen year old girl. Drop your substack @!!! I will follow you and love every post. They could NEVER make me hate you.

my friends dad asked me if I was driving yet, I told him I didnt even get my learners permit. He made a dig about how this generation has no independence or desire for it.
The truth is I have all the independence I desire. I take the bus, its free. Its better for the environment. Also the rides my dad gives me when I miss the bus or its raining are some of the only one-on-one time we spend together anymore. I live in my own building on our property and I work. I have plenty of independence. Sometimes relying on other people isnt out of necessity sometimes its about keeping beautiful things. I am growing up very fast. So I am gonna take those car rides with my dad when I can. :)
no hate to my friends dad either he was mostly joking lmfao
