It’s payday, the sun is shining and we’ve just received a new batch of the @fraptools dual 16 band spectral editor, Fumana An all analog filter bank with various controls to dynamically access the bands. Each filter bank is composed of an array of 16 independent 48dB / Oct bandpass filters. Two identical filter arrays allows you to use one for spectral analysis and the other for spectral re-synthesis. Grouped into odd and even bands, it is possible to apply different signals to the odd and even bands, both for the main or modulator arrays. Using both generators at audio rate, and patching one’s EOF to the other’s trig/gate input, we can obtain a sort of flip sync, where an oscillator forces the other to its rising stage.⁠ ⁠ Oh, there’s more! You can use the same V/oct signal for both channels and put a slew limiter before the synced oscillator. The Morphagene random word generator This morning we have mostly been recording a paragraph of Nietzsche’s Thus Spoke Zarathustra into the @MakeNoiseMusic Morphagene and chopping up each word into it’s own splice Using the EDSG output to trigger a sample and hold sampling white noise and then using that to select the splice to create the random word selection. We also fed the output back into the Doepfer A-119 and used the envelope follower to alter the tape speed The backing track is taken from the EDSG triggering a clock divider which is controlling two sequencers at different rates. Both sequences are run through the Doepfer A-156 quantizer, transposed by Pressure Points.
