A great piece from Derivative on the work of Dublin-based sound/media artist Pauric Freeman, who’s been exploring the intersection of modular synthesis, visuals (via TouchDesigner), and sensory manipulation.

His setups may be generative and coded — but the core ideas resonate deeply with us here at Process Zine:

systems that glitch and overlap

interfaces that distort perception

the idea that “input” ≠ meaning

and how our devices mediate what we hear, see, and feel

The mention of Never Before Heard Sounds — a now-closed AI sound project — also struck a chord. There’s something fitting about that: how some signals only exist briefly, then vanish, like a detuned frequency or a decaying loop. A symbol of impermanence. ✧

🌀 Freeman’s work reminds us: the signal is never just the signal. It’s how we receive it. Or don’t.

Bandcamp新作リリースのお知らせ

今月のBandcamp Fridayに合わせて新作を2つリリースしました！ ひとつめは「自身の心身の断絶を補完する」をテーマとした作品群『Fragmentary Passage』シリーズの最新作です！ 昨年11月から今年の3月にかけて制作された3曲からなっています。モジュラーシンセのライブから得たフィードバックも反映しつつ、「音楽を作ることそれ自体が癒しである」というセルフ・メディケーション的な側面も持った作品となっています。

ふたつめはライブレコーディングアルバムシリーズ「Extra-Oridinary」シリーズの第15弾『Ephemeral』です！今年の3/31に東京・Oriental Forceにて開催された「大聖堂」というイベントに出演した際のライブ音源です。この時のライブは明確にコンセプトを設定しており、音色のレイヤーをなるべく減らし、音色と音色がリレーしていくような関係性を持たせています。
