Is it just me, or was Max’s first escape from Vecna ten thousand percent more moving than Mike’s monologue to Eleven about how much he loves her?

Hi! I am currently writing a Blitzen and Hearthstone prequel novel called The Journey to Find Mimir. I found your account under the Blitzstone hashtag so I thought you might be interested. Yes! Exactly! Max’s escape from Vecna in Volume 1 was so powerful because it was from within herself. She relied on love she felt for her friends, and love she received from her friends (and Lucas too!) El’s escape from Vecna was forced. There was no internal love. It was external love from Mike who, by the way, did not deliver a speech as powerful and as heartfelt as it should have been. Defeating Vecna is going to have to rely on amplifying love from within and facing inner fears. El only did one of these things (facing her inner fears by realizing she is not a monster). Now she has to dig deep and truly look at what she loves in this world if she is going to defeat Vecna. She can’t rely on anyone but herself. 

actually instead of a boys love making eleven stronger it should have been her love for max and desperation to save her. a flashback of max playing you dont own me for eleven, and as the song plays in the background cut in between mikes speech is flashbacks of brenner and 001 and owens using her for her powers, then max telling eleven that she’s her own person and her strength belongs to her, then flashbacks of brenner and 001 (and hopper and mike! let’s be real) trying to control her, then eleven having fun with max!!!, and then to the climax of the song eleven breaks free and beats vecnas ass

The Big Question(s): Did the writers make a mistake? Or did they make the scene fall flat on purpose?
