Hello there! Thank you for stumbling onto my page. I have no real expectation on how this blog will go but I’m excited to get started. But first things first, introductions are in order! My name is Krystal. I’m a 30 year old (young) who lives just outside of Boston, Massachusetts. I’m happily married to my husband and together we have two cats, Mia & Greggy. I currently work as a front desk receptionist at a local pediatricians office and in my spare time I love to watch movies, go for walks and write fanfiction. My biggest and first love however, has been the Walt Disney World company. It started at the age of eleven and has developed ever since including three tours of working as a Cast Member by doing the Disney College Program! I tend to go down to Orlando a few times a year to visit the parks (some may even say that I’m obsessed!)
In 2009, my life came to a screeching halt when I was diagnosed with PCOS, a hormonal condition that effects 1 in 10 women. It causes the hormones to be imbalanced which can lead to side effects such as: Rapid weight gain, insulin resistance, excessive body hair (face, chest ect), acne, and infertility. I was noticing that I was gaining weight quickly over the span of a year with no real reason. My diet hadn’t changed and I exercised normally. It was heart wrenching to say the least. I felt like something was horribly wrong. Unfortunately, there is no cure for PCOS, but there are many different ways to treat the symptoms. For instance, I was put on Metformin, which is typically  a diabetic medication but I will dedicate a separate post strictly on PCOS and how I’ve managed it and how others have as well.
The main focus I want this platform to be for is for weight loss surgery and the reasonings for considering it. I also want this to be an open forum for anyone who may have been thinking about it and are scared or people who have done it and may have a bit of buyers remorse. In February of 2020, I made the decision that I was tired of living with the way I was. I was at my highest weight of 350 pounds, I could barely walk, I had been asked a few times to get off a ride because I was deemed “too big” to fit. I needed a solution. Diet and exercise weren’t working much, it was time for something bigger. I had my gastric sleeve on July 20,2020 despite the COVID-19 pandemic and I will be sharing my journey with Tumblr. If you are still here and want to follow along, follow me!
