Hurricane Sandy – Storm Restoration
Hurricane Sandy left more than 7.9 million customers in the dark. Matrix NAC worked around the clock to restore power in the aftermath of the storm. We have a long and proud history of providing outstanding service to the utility industry. Matrix NAC was awarded three projects:
No. 2 Coke Battery thru-wall replacement The project had 71,000 direct hire hours with 60 employees at peak manpower. The project was completed within six months, and Matrix NAC will have future opportunity for additional thru-wall repairs.
No. 6 Blast furnace repairs This project was successfully completed with more than 82,000 direct hire hours and 400 employees at peak manpower. The scope included a fixed fee/reimbursable commercial agreement.
No. 8 Blast furnace repairs This project was successfully completed with more than 230,000 direct hire hours and 450 employees at peak manpower. The scope included fixed fee/reimbursable commercial agreement and a first skip incline replacement.

Circuit Breaker Replacement
Matrix NAC successfully completed a 230 kV circuit breaker replacement project . Working together, a composite crew of linemen and inside wiremen finished the project on time, under budget and with zero safety incidents. The success of the project included management responsibility for all Matrix NAC subcontractors. Matrix NAC crew was awarded additional scope, including a similar 230kV circuit breaker replacement.

Natural Gas Power Plant BOP
Matrix NAC installed below-grade conduit, grounding, temporary power, 345kV GIS, GE steam and gas turbine electrical, and all other above-grade balance of plant electrical for a new combined-cycle power plant.
It has added over 500 megawatts of highly efficient generating capacity to power more than 500,000 homes and businesses with clean, sustainable energy. The plant will run primarily on natural gas, but also ultra-low sulfur fuel oil as a backup. It consists of a gas-fired turbine generator, a heat recovery steam generator, a steam turbine generator, and an air-cooled condenser, all combined a $550 million investment.
