Title: Pieces of Me
Material: photograph, water color on panel
Size: 8 inches
I took the self portraits at Geoje Island in Korea. The rocks reminded me of Pfeiffer Beach, California. I loved the view and was inspired by the nature.
I used photos as a medium to create my nature drawings. I tore them as naturally as I could to try to use them like flower petals.
Recently, I created many circles as a way to find relief. Circles give me comfort, satisfaction, and zen.
I am participating in NCWCA's The 6000 Circle Project. It will be presented with woman artists to honor feminine energy. The exhibition will be at the Arc Project Gallery from February 24 through April 6, 2024.

International Juried Photography Exhibition
THE ARTIST INTERVENES
Opening Night Reception: Feb 18TH 6-8PM
Exhibition Dates: Feb 18TH - Mar 4TH
Guest Curated by: Aline Smithson
Photographic artists are reconsidering the potential of a photograph with a shift to making rather than taking photographs. By using vintage and contemporary photographs as a starting point, artists create physically layered works of art that result in an object, often in reaction to the flood of ubiquitous imagery that digital and cell phone photography has afforded.
Praxis Gallery presents photographic art or lens-based artwork that utilizes physical interventions and investigations of photographic surfaces that can include sewing, cutting, drawing, painting, tearing, bending, and weaving, all ways of interrogating the material qualities of a physical photograph to create new realities.

Have you ever really missed a friend? Have you met them in your dreams? How about both of you dreaming about each other at the same time? Yes, we did.
I clearly remember meeting her in my dream. I could see her on the second floor of an old country-style home. A candle was lit. She was sitting by the window. It was a vivid dream.
The next day, I let her know she was in my dream. Surprisingly, she said she saw me in her dream too. We needed to connect so we started a project to stay closer with each other.
Art Collaboration with Marilla Palmer

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SILVERMAN and the Majestic Theatre Condominium Association present: PIECES OF ME Featuring works by: Preksha Kapadia, Blond Jenny and Theda Sandiford curated by Kristin J. DeAngelis. Kristin J. DeAngelis has been the Curator for SILVERMAN Buildings for over two and half years.
“Pieces of Me” features works by: Preksha Kapadia, Blond Jenny and Theda Sandiford.
The exhibition will spotlight female artists who use various unexpected materials to describe their life’s journey. “Artists give themselves in every creation. They agonize over every line, every brush stroke, every piece of material placement. Their work is an extension of themselves and sometimes others.” states Curator Kristin J. DeAngelis.
“They can give those who may be afraid to use their voice a vehicle to articulate their feelings by connecting to - even participating in the creation of the art. “Pieces of Me” is about these artists, but it is also about their community they have built in their process.” Preksha Kapadia was born in Ahmedabad in Western India. As a child, the importance of self exploration, experimentation and creating something new was instilled into her by her father - her first art teacher. Her mother had a sewing machine and she managed to absorb the entire process in her psyche, and the daily life of that time period molded my artistic temperament. “Fabrics and threads have been a rich part of my identity in the society. My relationship with the fabric of cotton has been lifelong. From the very seed of cotton, threads are processed transformed into fabrics and dying and stitching and then recycling. It is the very process of nature, the metamorphosis that I have reconstructed in my art work. Material always plays a crucial role in developing art in accordance with the nature of the artist, the creator. I am very sensitive and transparent by nature. Expression comes naturally to me which I communicate through the usage of cotton. It is a direct reflection of my emotions.
“ Blond Jenny moved to the United States from South Korea in 2012 where she has been working as an artist in New York and New Jersey. Her work is a mix of storytelling through her alter ego, cartoon character Blond Jenny, her self-portraits, found objects from nature, 360-degree photos and videos. Blond Jenny set out to find the connection between flowers, Korean language, women, and nature from the past and present. “I express my womanhood through Korean calligraphy and dried flower petals. I am focused on oriental style mixed media inspired by the nostalgia of missing my family back home in Seoul. My comfort with flowers and my mother tongue made me the woman I am. I didn’t realize the beauty of the Korean alphabet which is based on hieroglyphs, the shape of the tongue and mouth while speaking, and nature, “ Said Blond Jenny, “The meaning of these shapes shows how humans are happy to live with nature, a common Oriental view. I go back to the time before man-made technology when we were humble to nature. I am paying homage to our environment in hopes that others will too. My work is a compilation of self-identified Korean words and sounds used to describe my femininity.”
Theda Sandiford, is a self-taught mixed media artist based in Jersey City, NJ. Though art is engrained in her psyche, Theda’s first creative endeavors were in the music business as a sales and digital marketing executive. After years of ground breaking digital work for musicians, she began applying digital and analog art processes to develop her own artistic self-expression as a means of art therapy. “My hair is my identity. Natural, braided, crocheted or straight there is mystery hidden in my hair. My kinks hold secrets. Pain and joy; that is mine to reveal. An extension of my body and my SELF. On my dime and in the style that I choose. With this work, I have created a bridge on which to meet you. Created during open studio yarn wrapping sessions, I invited the community to wrap and hitch knot thousands of yards of yarn, recycled sari thread, plastic cord, trim, ribbon, sequins, trim and pom poms onto 100’ of cotton ropes. Hundreds of participants have imbued their essence, becoming a part of each rope, as we discussed the trials and tribulations of our gray hair, teal hair, thinning hair, hats, wigs, weaves, braids and locs. Despite these differences, we found a common denominator amongst us all, HAIR.” For additional information on the curator, please visit: www.deangelisart.com
