WHOOPSIE! Look at the gap between the draft creation and this update LMAO.

I didn’t expect it would take me this long tbh to edit chp 1-33 😳 it took me 3 weeks apparently.

I’m glad I did it though, cause I got to see my growth as a writer and I got to fix the earliest chapters!!! Also, it’s perfect to refresh my memory. I feel like I’m ready now to tackle the final few chapters of this fic 😎

I even added around 5k words in total HAHA. Now the total wordcounts for TFTAE is 294k words

After that, I decided to edit Blood and Potion (sorry, I was distracted). Fortunately it only took me 2 days

So FINALLY, after days of editing my published fics, I was able to work on chp 34!

I added 500+ words today :D

Because I had nothing better to do, I decided to recap all of the fics I wrote this year (and made a graphic of it because I was watching too many scrapbook videos) 😘

I'm super impressed that I was able to write 160k+ words this year. From what the internet said, the average length of a novel is around 70k-100k, so the amount I wrote this year is equal to around writing 2 novels 🥳

For extra comparison, Emma by Jane Austen is 150k+ words. So yeah, that's crazy! 😳

Cheers to a good year ahead and to more writing next year! 🥂✨

In short: Back in July, someone made a post about an AI website that had scraped some of their fanfictions. If you are curious, you can learn more about this issue from this tumblr post or this twitter post.

I was shocked and scared obviously, so in a mild panic, I checked this website and fortunately I did not find any of my works there. HOWEVER, I quickly regretted putting my name in the search bar 😭 I thought it would make the bot aware of my works, so I quickly locked all my fics.

Which, actually, was the right thing to do. It’s not foolproof, but by limiting your works to AO3 users only, gives your work an extra layer of protection from being scraped by AI.

Honestly, the topic about AI training on AO3 works is not new. I’ve seen several discourses or reports about it from fellow writers, but I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt. Why? Because I don’t want to “gatekeep” my works. I know some of my readers don’t have accounts, and I do like receiving kudos and comments from these guests.

But, as I have explained above, I was terrified by the idea of AI scraping my works. I’m not a professional writer I know, but these works are like my children. I created these with MY own hands and spent HOURS working on it. For fuck sake, I literally do this for free because I love writing and I love sharing my works with the fandom.

Therefore, the idea of someone scraping my writings and possibly profiting from them sickened me…

And I’m sure other writers share the same feelings as mine… That’s why several writers decided to lock their fics

The website, afaik, is no longer working. But still, just to be safe, I’m still going to lock my fics… 😔 So, my deepest apology for all of the guests who are probably disappointed by my decision…
