do you have any advice for boarding school? Things that you should bring that aren't on the list? This is going to be my first year and I'm entering 9th grade
BRING COFFEE. LISTEN TO ME: BRING COFFEE.

Another story about Boarding school babies. The questions were submitted by incoming freshmen and I guess several of them had went to public school before because they were super uninformed about how to dress and I swear I got asked 7 different times if yoga pants were business casual attire or if the would be allowed on casual fridays. (Hint: No and No.)

Today I had to help with a google hang out for new students and this girl kept asking about how many 'poor people' went to the school. (It costs almost 54k a year but some kids are sponsored by alumni and shit.)

So that last anon's story reminded me of something: In freshman year a girl asked me if I had a pad (we were at the dining hall) and I gave one to her--of course, I tried to be as discreet as I could, which means I slipped it inside her blazer pocket. A teacher saw us and she thought I was giving her drugs. And we ended in the headmaster's office. All because of pad solidarity.

While on the weekly supermarket trip, my house mistress was trying to mime to one of the other staff that I had asked her to pick up some tampons for me but her actions were so bad and so exaggerated that I ended up being given a box of condoms

Today I discovered a boarding school forum and realised how luck I really am. Some people have school on Saturdays and have to share a dorm with like 4 people and have to be up at 7 for roll call and have their free time completely mapped out for them and have like a 9pm curfew... That's so bad. We have none of that at my school and I thought we had it tough

Do those boarding schools with castle-like buildings really exsist? If so, what are the names? I wish I went to a boarding school like that, but I'm a senior in public high school in America. It sucks.
Hey! I'm pretty sure there are some in Europe. I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly which ones look like castles, tho. Mine was in the middle of the woods. And, just remember that high school is high school no matter what. Trust me, the only big difference is that you get to sleep at school. Homework and stress/social stress remains.
Have an amazing senior year : )! Good luck!

I had to hand in a paper to one of the dorm parents. He lives in the boys' dorm. Usually, that dorm is filled with guys screaming over sports or playing stupid pranks at each other: today was naked dancing day.

I am a prefect at my boarding school. Trust me that there is nothing more entertaining that senior prank week. I have a consequences/judicial meeting with two seniors that tried to initiate a massive Harlem Shake during lunch.

Is there such a thing as a really really strict boarding school that parents send their kids they hate? like disciplinary chools but not military?
I know they exist. There are reformation schools, usually for people who do drugs, have depression, or general addictions. But I think you have to prove that they are really problematic or troubled. Also, please. I don’t like to think that parents will hate their kids enough to send them away. That’s awful. Never ever do that. It’s hard to leave home, and I know that deep inside, it is hard for the parents to let go too.

To answer your question about schools in the south of England: Oakham is an incredible school, a lot of my friends went there, although I suppose that's technically the midlands. Uppingham is another good school, though very very expensive and for elites only really (:
