You manage to squirm a little in his grasp, mumbling under your breath that it was okay. Strange how such a big guy could be such a scaredy-cat. You were starting to show some pluck now, most likely from your trepid nervesā¦and MBās clingy-ness kinda of helped. Even your cotton eyes were starting to adjust to the dim settings of the tunnel. A strong, sweet and cold scent filled the damp air. You knew the comforting smell well. Aniās flowers. You were struck with a wave of nastalgia. Much about the tunnels smell reminded you of your sister. It was certainly a lot different compared to the muscle bound fandom that clutched you.
Nui!: Animas⦠well theyāre kinda like spirits in a way. Or rather the embodiment of life and nature that animals carry.
You scrunch your face. Ani could explain this better than you can.
Nui!: They posses people in times of dire stress or need, usually kids. Itās much rarer for adults. Theyāre drawn to innocence, I think. But donāt worry, theyāre harmless on their own.
You squint ahead as best as you can, peering through the damp darkness as best you can. Aniās blue flowers were in much thicker clusters now, the vines had crawled over much of the walls and hung from the ceiling, the blue buds giving off a faint luminescent glow like stars. The cobble of the floor and bearings in the walls were warped by thick tree roots that wrapped the corridor. The lab should be close. You had to be almost directly under the tree now, were it all sprouted that day.
Nui!: Yeah I think so⦠Watch your step.
You mention, pointing to the arching roots in the stone floor.
Nui!: There should be a door just ahead.
As you mentioned it you could see an end to the hallway, a flat surfaces completely covered in foliage and flowers. Just under the gaps in the plantās rich green leaves you could see the planks of an old wooden door.
Nui!: There! Do you see that door? Do you think you can pry it loose?
"Oh... We're dealing with animal-ghosts that possess kids... That's uh... Alright." You grumble, not very reassured by what the kind doll says. Bless her heart, you can tell she's trying, but while you're already a little spooked, it certainly doesn't help. You shiver a little at the creepiness of this hallway, but just continue on. You've seen worse.
Right?
You try not tho think about worse things you've seen as you continue on, still sprinting, before your feet take off from the floor entirely and you're flying after the ghost. Your legs stop pumping after a few moments as you fly through the air, then simply drag behind you with the wind resistance they put up.
As your eyes adjust more to the darkness, you relax your grip on Nui just slightly to give her room to breath, and you exhale a relaxed breath out yourself as vision returns to you. At least you can see. And as you do see, you are relieved to not be in some demented hospital or basement or room made of of the inside of some crazy woman's uteral walls, but what looks like some pretty underground tree-room. It's much more comforting than you had expected.
"Legend of Zelda-ish," you think out loud. "I can handle this, I think. This is way more friendly than I thought it would be."
Upon hearing her speak again, you stare at the roots, then continue to the hall, floating peacefully and silently along the way, careful to keep your head from bumping the ceiling and your shoes from bumping the floor. As the door gets closer, too, you whistle a little, and as she makes her request, you grin wide.
"Open a door? Come on, you gotta give me a challenge, here!" You laugh warmly, your wardrobifier giving you your godtier outfit just to fit the moment. It can be almost as fussy as your roommate's. You extend your arm, floating in place, and brace yourself for the use of your magic. It's always just as exciting to use.
"You're talking to a bona-fide Mage of Breath! A manipulator of freedom! Opening doors is freedom 101!" You feel much better in your quite literal element as you allow your powers to kick in, and gusts of wind begin unfurling out of your sleeve. Finally, some real noise in this cavern. The air picks up around you and your friend in your arms as you float. Tightening your grip a little again to keep her in your arms, you let the wind blow faster.
"...Or this one might be stubborn," You frown as the door fails to give way immediately. You put on the gas, letting more and more wind blow, and you have to raise your voice as the wind in front of you tries to peek in through any crack in the door it can find, and using it's magical properties to allow you freedom to enter the room. You gotta think on your toes with how to abuse the system with a god tier. "Hold on, this one might take a little bit!"
You hear rustling among the vines as the wind picks up faster and faster, and even some of the roots on the wall begin to creak. You try to focus any and everything you can on making the door open, hoping it'll give in before you lose grip of your plushie friend.
[boi-SMB-fandomstuck] /You blink in surprise as you drop down from a portal, mistaking its color for another planet entirely, and crash rather loudly into the forest surrounding Ani's house. Ā A broken branch hung in the air with a faint creaking sound as part of the wood barely clung to itās tree. Leaves fluttered to the ground along with showers of previously untouched dust layers that were shook or stripped loose from the crash. The land seemed darker than itās normally inviting appearance. Or maybe thatās just your perception as you hang limply from a tree limb, cotton running out your cloth body. Someones there⦠or something anyways. Itās not like you had a lot of options considering you donāt think you can move. You were just lucky you were tossed up onto this branch when the stupid mutts were fighting over you.
You croak out faintly to the figure.

You keep your eyes fixed on the ligt, but MBās grip was getting a little too tight for your liking. You look up for a moment, but there still isnāt any light to make out his features in the tunnel.Ā
Nui!: Hey, hey⦠easy on the stuffingā¦
You mumble lightheartedly.Ā
Nui!: Trust me, itās alright. Thatās not a ghost. Itās an Anima. Ani more specifically. Now donāt go so fast too fast or youāll trip in the dark.
You feel the roughness of his panic, but it doesnāt bother you as you fix your black eyes back on the form. It had started to move, keeping just ever so ahead of the two of you despite the pace.
It wasnāt long before your eyes could pick up the faintest glow and the form whisked away, slinking into a wall. As the two of you got closer the light was more easily distinguished. Little luminous mushrooms growing in the cold damp halls were showing the way now.
Nui: Look, those mushrooms are one of Aniās favorite, they mostly grow in the gate forest, this is one of the few other places on Lolat you can find them. Weāre getting close.
āS-sorry,ā you half-whimper, lightening your grip softly on the sassy stuffed animal as you follow the ghost through the dark cave. Or, uh, the not-ghost. Whatever anĀ āanimaā is, youāre following it now.
āS-so uh... Whatās an anima again?ā You ask weakly, your voice hardly a squeak in the dark and easily spoken over by the stuffed animal. As she points out the mushrooms, you slow down a little, sighing softly in relief as light of someĀ kind illuminate the way.Ā āOh thank God, light...ā
Your facial features come into view, and itās very clear that you are really rather stressed about this whole situation. Between the dark, this ghost-not-ghost, spooky tombs, and having recalled some dark memories of your siblings, this is a lot less heroic than you thought itād be.
...Which is probably good for you, being a godtier and all.
āWeāre almost there, then?ā

You grip his arm back as it tightens around you, Not out of fear but reassurance. Youāre a stuffed animal after all, guarding people from the dark was just one of your jobs.
Nui!: It getās lighter down the line, youāll see.
The deeper the two of you went, the less the light could crawl into the tunnel from above. Soon you were faced with a wall of inky blackness, but at the very least the ground had leveled out. You squint up ahead a little, there was a tiny white light forming deep in the hall. You could just barely make it out. It looked like a figure.Ā
You brighten, patting his arm encouragingly again.
Nui!: Ani! Look thatās Ani! Hurry! Sheāll show us the way.
āThat ghost thing? I-if ya say so!ā Youāre quick to make assumptions, squeezing the little doll again defensively. Never have you thought youād see a sentient stuffed toy, nor that youād be so comforted by it. Biting back a whimper, you trudge on at the same speed as before; your will to move faster towards the light is fighting against your will to run as far away as fast as you can from a ghost.
However, itās only so long before your eyes want the light more than your head wants to block out the fear or the supernatural (and you remember that the ghosts you actually know arenāt really bad people) before you begin to pick up the pace, near sprinting by the end of it towards the tiny light.

Nui!: Yep.
You say simply, not the least phased by the tomb like proceedings before you. But even you could feel the ominous presence looming up from the dark dwelling. A draft of cold stale air being stirred from itās loom. But Mb seemed nervous and you showed it too it wouldnāt do either of you any good. Ā Ani was down there. You stirr a little in his arms to get comfortable and tap him on his arm comfortingly.Ā
Nui!: Well come on then. We have a damsel to help. Donāt we?Ā
Plus, you didnāt exactly want to stick around for very long either. Not with the Anima as agitated as they are.
āI suppose...ā You speak cautiously. Dark places donāt do you so good after so many runs through that ugly, infected, haunted hospital. Too many falls into hypodermic needles in the dark... You shudder at the slightest memory before beginning the decent down the stairs. This is so unnerving.
ā...Weird as it sounds, I wasnāt expectinā the dark,ā you admit to your travel companion, moving your arms a little but gently squeezing the doll in concern. Subconsciously, youāre very thankful that your companion here is a stuffed animal. It does help you feel better in this dark, dank tomb. Youād have brought a flashlight if you were expecting darkness. Or Isaac.
You can power through it. Youāre a grown-ass man.
And youāre sure you didnāt hug Nui a little closer just now, too.Ā

Nui!: Oh.Ā
Nui!: Oh fuck. geezz man.Ā
You shutter a little, the imaginary of it causing you to shutter. Eugh, it was a good thing you didnāt currentāy have a stomach. You look up at the seemingly happy go-lucky fandom curious.Ā
Nui!: Well, fuck those guys then. Geha, jeeze I donāt think I could ever meant again if that happened to me either.Ā
You ultimately decide. You wouldnāt want to run into them dead or alive. You feel slightly uncomfortable now, just ever so. Like a heavy weight was just thrown down on the conversation. Okay wow. You look around awhile, silently for the opening as a sort of silence seeps in to the air. Luckily it isnāt long before you spot a speck of familiar blue.Ā
Nui!: Meat lug! Over there! See those little blue flowers spouting all over the place there? That should be the entrance.Ā
āYeah, but I guess itās all kinda relative. I mean, I donāt like eatinā meat still, but I grew up with a little more violence than the average bear. I donāt think it hit me as hard as it couldāve.ā
You still try to salvage the conversation, but you know full well that the atmosphere about the conversation is too heavy to keep up. Darn you and your traumatic childhood! You drop the topic and thank God when Nui breaks the silence and directs you to the pretty little flowers.
āThe blue flowers? Got it!āĀ
You arneāt sure you like the nameĀ āMeat Lugā, with how it sounds more like an object than a living, feeling thing, but youāre not salty enough about it to bring it up. Itās (probably) an affectionate nickname, and you can get behind that. As she directs, you take the two of you over to the flowers and stare down into the dark entrance.Ā
ā...So uh... down here?ā you offer, not super fond of darkness. Reminds you too much of the time you accidentally ended up in Isaacās basement. And that is something you do notĀ want to go through again.

Nui!: Iām not even going to pretend I can remember any of those names.
You tease with a chuckle. No sixteen was a lot for one family, fandom or not. It made you happy though, the thought of such bustle. You notice mbās pause however, realizing he hadnāt the faintest notion of where he was going. Right, directions.
Nui!: Hey, Try heading towards the base of the tree, we can circle round it.
However as you go on, one name strikes you. Isaac? You think Ani wrote something about a fandom with that name. She hadnāt met him. not personally. But something about that Dandom chick and her attitude or⦠beef with him? You canāt remember. You decide itās best not to mention anyways. Youāre literally jostled from your thoughts as MB steps over a fallen log, your ear and a half flouncing with the motion. Oh⦠most of them were dead. Thatās⦠reality you guess.
Nui!: Well, Itās good you can seeāem. Siblings are⦠nice. Most of the time anyways.
You wonder if you die, will Ani able to see you in a dream bubble?
Nui!: Whatāid Welting do?Ā You pipe up, curious now.
āI aināt expectinā ya ta remember moreānā two of those names. Aināt gonna be any quizzes on my family. I got way too many for my own good. Hell, even IĀ canāt remember shit about my whole family.ā You laugh again softly, recalling your family as the conversation continues. You follow her instructions, throwing a smallĀ ārightā to confirm that you got her directions.Ā
āYeah, siblings are pretty good. Someone to relate to in a world of fandoms and humans.ā This is getting a touch too philosophical for you. Youāre not even sure if there are any surviving humans after the Sburbian apocalypse. Youāre rather thankful she offers a change of subject.
You make sure to be careful as you carry the little plush, floating up and over roots and things in the air. Really, you prefer the feeling of ground under your feet, but you arenāt going to let yourself trip over these treebranches. Youāre a cityboy; you donāt think youāll ever be used to forests.
āEh? Weltling? Oh man⦠Youāre gonna need a little backstory, first,ā You chuckle, getting ready to tell your new little purple friend about your life.Ā āTo start with, ya gotta know I donāt go down easy. Like, dying and stuff. Even if I doĀ go down, I can respawn āer, come back to life again near immediately. In a burst āa blood, but near immediately. Hell, I got this killer photo album of places I died around the world ā sorry, gettinā off-track. Basically, if I die, I show up again no matter what ya do.
Anyways, Weltling is way olderānā I am. A couple years; thatās a longĀ while for vidya game fandoms. I was the youngest for awhile and got a lilā picked on for being the most popular kid in the house. At one point, Weltling was teaminā up with C-word to beat me up, cuzā I donāt die, and their games are real terrifyinā and violent, right?
Get thisā those assholes for some reasonā thought that itād be fun ta see what livinā organs looked like outside the body. As if they didnāt already know⦠And guess who was the tiniest fandom in the house? Oh yeah, this poor loser. Gettinā force-fed my own intestines was a⦠a funĀ experience.ā
You shudder, tensing up and holding the doll closer to your chest. Your heart beats a little faster as you recall the memory.
ā I think thatās why I kinda became a vegan. Or uh⦠kinda a vegan. I can have meat cooked certain ways but I canāt see it be uncooked. Freaks me out a little. Uh⦠Sorry if that was a little⦠uh⦠much. I kinda ramble sometimes. I do Ā have a lotāa nicer family, though.Ā
Like, if ya ever get a chance, ya gotta meet Tri-Achnid. Heās the most loving poor bastard youāll ever meet. He anā Host were the guys who got me away from Weltling and C-Word. If I were a different man, Iād give him a few good welts.ā

You shift a little to look up at him, ear and a half perked up and your eyes wide with disbelief and curiosity.Ā
Nui!: Sixteen?! Really?
Nui!: ā¦wow. Just⦠dang. Thatās a lot.
Nui!: Are any of them sisters?
You think a moment. Thatās a big family. Bigger than youāve ever really known. You mean, you and Ani had a little brother, but he died before you even entered the game with her⦠and even then it was just three and-You lightly kick your dangling little feet to and fro nervously now, looking back down to the damp forest floor. Nui!: Do you love them?
Nui!:Like would you risk your life or sacrifice something you cared about for any of them?
āHeh, yeah, sixteen. Sounds rediculous, huh? Sixteen and growinā, probably, with the rate dad keeps makinā games.ā You chuckle at the thought before listing them off.Ā āWe got, in no particular order:
Grey Matter, Spewer, Gish, Meatboy the First, Isaac, me, Host, Time Fcuk, Blaster Miner, Coil, C-Word, Triachnid, Cereous Peashy, MewGenics, Carious Weltling, and Aether.ā
You sigh a as you finish naming off your family, glancing down at Nui before returning your gaze to looking for the pedestal or whatever that should lead into the tree.
āHuh?Ā āCourse I loveĀ āem. Nasty and violent and liable to force-feed me my own intestines as one or two of āem are, most ofĀ āem are real sweet and Edmundās games really gotta stick together, anyway. I mean, some of us are lucky, like me, Isaac, anyone in the Basement Collection; they get reboots or are brought up elsewhere besides Newgrounds.Ā
Only one sister out of the bunch, but she isnāt quite... er, sheās in the works. Most of the family is kinda dead, though.ā
Before she can begin the wholeĀ āIām sorry for your lossā bit, you wave the thought away.Ā

The two of you speed over the plush forest at a break spine breaking speed, well of you had a spine to break anyways, towards the towering tree in the distance. As you sped along the curvature of the semi-small planet more and more of itās massive trunk became visable in the distance. Almost there! You keep your eyes fixated on it with worry seaping through your cotton interior. You had almost made it to the clearing when something about it caught your attention. The little blue specks of flowers that had since crawled and woven themsleves all over the area. That was a good sign⦠you think. You tap Meat boy again to draw his attention.
Nui!: See those blue flowers? Head down there. Thereās a pedistool that leads down into this.. ruins kinda deal. Aniās in there.
You shift a little in his grip, feeling a touch axious and more energetic than you had in a while.
Nui!: Hey MB? Do you have any siblings?
āBy the blue flowers, right,ā you say out loud, partially to confirm with Nui that you heard her and partially to confirm with yourself your landing destination. You slow down significantly as you make your decent, enough so that you find yourself lightly touching down on the ground with no more powerful a slam than a butterfly in the patch of flowers.
At her little question, you canāt help a chuckle, holding back a laugh before you answer. Oh man, did you have siblings.
āWell, Iām a hell of a guy to ask that one! Yeah, I got siblings. Iām a middle kid in a set of sixteen kids. Why dāya ask?ā You grin down at the plushie in your arms as you look around for the pedestal she talked about. This is an interesting day, it is.

Thereās hardly a moments pause before the speedy fandom is already springing into action like the word go was a green light on a racetrack. The next thing you know youāre whisked off of the table into the crook of his arms and heās thundering out of the door. His take up step is met with a loud snapping sound as he launches himself into the air.Ā
*CRUNCH*
You look down around his arm to see what the noise was. Oh. Itās just that thing. You grimace. After what he did, you wish heād leave your sister alone. She didnāt even have a Cd player. Also how was that anyway to contact her? How exactly do you sayĀ āOh, sorry I tried to strangle you to deathā amongst many other things. You give a dismisive hmphf, patting meatboy if he even noticed.
Nui!: Itās not important.
Nui!: Do you see the giant tree? We need to head to the side closest to us.Ā
āA-aw, shit,ā you curse softly as you recognize the all-too-familiar feeling and sound of a disc being crushed beneath your foot. You've stepped on plenty of CDs and games before in your mess of a room, but it doesn't ever stop being painful for you to hear. Boy, are you glad for digital releases... Ack, now isnāt the time for your mind to wander.
Before you can even ask if you've destroyed something valuable (or ask why thereās a CD on the ground in front of this girlās house in the first place), Nui waves away the thought and you canāt help a sigh of relief. Good, good, it didnāt seem important. You try to push the thought of the broken disc out of your mind as you look around, spotting the giant tree quickly after Nui describes it.
āGiant Tree in the distance, got it,ā you confirm before speeding off towards it not unlike a Dragon Ball Z character. A gentle giant Dragon Ball Z character with a fondness of and a gentle touch when it comes to plush toys.

Nui!: Like I said, I shouldnāt be in this game. Iām not a player.
Ā Youāre too busy focusing on not toppling over to notice any discomfort with youāre new⦠friend? You guess you could call him that. Ugh, you felt so drained before. You hold up your tiny plush arms, flexing your claws to see if you could, then tentatively shift your weight from one foot to the other. With most of your tail and part of one ear gone you felt horribly unbalanced. You needed to get fixed properly when you had the chance.
When MB manages to pull out a small looking glass from the basket, you manage a quarter turn, leaning cautiously to one side, trying to get a look. You canāt hide your initial disappointment. Youāre poor ear.
Nui!: You did a good job, this should hold.
You look yourself over, twisting to see the patches and your nubby tail. Well, could be worse. Tears can be fixed. At least you hadnāt been burned or anything.
Nui!: Well then⦠can we get going? Iām afraid Ani might wake up without me.
āWhether or not yer a player, itās important ta help one another out.ā With a shrug, you watch her in the mirror, stopping yourself from trying to frown with her. The poor thing looks so disappointed and sad. Man, you gotta find a way to alchemize the right fabric for the poor thing. She looks real messy without the right patterns.
When she mentions that the two of you should probably get moving, you nod a little and put the mirror away.Ā āYeah, we should get moving. Do you know where weāre going?ā
You donāt wait for an answer, scooping the plushie into your arms as you already tromp right out the door, kicking off the ground to get into the air and ready to fly in any given direction.
[boi-SMB-fandomstuck] /You blink in surprise as you drop down from a portal, mistaking its color for another planet entirely, and crash rather loudly into the forest surrounding Ani's house. You yelp in concern and confusion as you hit a good number of branches on the way down, though after only a few seconds of being on the ground, you take in some air and get back to your feet while dusting your sweatpants and t-shirt off./ ,,,Whelp, where'd I end up this time?

+AF: Heyā¦. over hereā¦

Nui!: Huh?
You blink. For real, thought you were still staring at the table. You, but, you hadnāt asked him yet. He had already decided to volunteer?
Nui!: Wait, you mean, Ā youāre going to help us? Just like that?
What was with this guy? It was like the people you kept meeting had a serious streak of Ani in them⦠besides the cursing that is. It was rediculous. You could swear youād be blushing if you werenāt made aā cloth right now. Stupid nice⦠block heads being nice for no reason.Ā
You coud feel him closing up the final temp-patch and tying it off, a feeling of completion filling you, not as before, but good enough. You try wriggling again for the first time, tapping his hand to be let go.Ā
Nui!: Alright, then we gotta go, right?
Nui!: Lemme see the damage
āāCourse Iām gonna help ya. Dunno why I wouldn't. You said there was an emergency, so I figured you needed all the help you could get. This is Sburb after all. Iām pretty sure weāre supposed to be working together.ā You shrug, not having expected her to think you werenāt going to help. You let her out of your hands when she taps yours (giving a surprised noise when she actually proved herself to be mobile).
As she speaks again, you respond after staring for a second or two.
āHuh? Oh, uh, yeah, I think I saw a mirror in here.ā You assume she wanted to look at herself in the mirror. In a matter of moments, you busy yourself with finding the mirror you thought you saw in the basket, and try not to stare as the doll is standing upright. You didnāt think thatād weird you out as much as it does; youāve seen some shit.

You giggle, something having struck a cord with you. He really hadnāt realized. He could have sealed you up with out your stuffing you hadnāt said anything. Ā Meathead. Either way now, there was more cotton he had collected that belonged to your tail and ear. It should match or at least be close enough to the cotton you should have. Nui!: Should be good enough. You mutter. You feel awkward as he rearranges the cotton in of you, but it canāt be helped, so you tolerate it. Eugh, it was like having your guts arranged. Ā Nui!: Alright alright. Itās good enough. The cottons settled.Ā You were beginning to get impatient again as he did the last couple of stitches across you back. Guh, you didnāt even want to think of what it looked like. But⦠ah⦠before heās stitched the final thread up you pipe up. You could still use him⦠Nui!: Say⦠MB? Can I ask you one more favor?
āA favor? Uh, sure. Before or after the emergency?ā You respond. You donāt have anything else to do, anyway. Why not humor the cute little doll? Youāll have an extra friend in the end if you do, probably. You offer a little chuckle and sit her upright against the basket for support again.
āBecause if you had that emergency thing with the lady here and she needs help, itās best we get movinā as soon as possible. Iām a quick son of a bitch and can get ya there if you need it as soon as possible. No offense, but whatever it is, I donāt know if an injured stuffed animal could do a whole lot by themselves.ā

Thereās a rhythm to heās sewing, no quite sloppy, not quiet neat, but efficient. Stitch stick stitch. First your head, then the leg. His hands work steadily, rolling up the ends of your tattered cloth. He apparently decided to seal off the end of your ear and tail for now, folding and sewing them down like a hem line. Soon all that remained was your back to cover. You can feel a little of your energy coming back.Ā
Nui!: I hope you donāt plan on opening a new hole to place the cotton back into⦠Youāre going to have to stuff it through the tear just before you close that patch you know. Ā Ā You werenāt about to have another seem loosened. Ā
ā...Oh! Uh, right, right. Sure, yeah, hold on,ā You chuckle. You would have missed that entirely had she not reminded you. You were in just such a nice rhythm with the sewing that it hardly occured to you for a few minutes there you had anything else to do with patching her up. After a nervous chuckle, you pull open the hole just wide enough to start pushing in the stuffing you managed to catch on the way here and when you dropped her the first time.
āJust a fistfulār two,ā you promise, pushing in the cottony stuffing and squishing her body just a little bit every so often to make sure the stuffing all filled out her purple plushie body evenly. After a moment or two, you feel awkward about it. āUh... Sorry fer gropinā ya a little. Itās to make sure yer all even.ā
Once you decide thatās all well and good (if sheās too thin still, you add a few pieces of soft fabric in with the stuffing, just to fill her out a little bit more), you begin your last job on the final patch; a happy blue star right on her back shoulder-blade.
